To be fair, although you can say "it's Timburtonism", that's mostly close to how things in the book works. Tim Burton is just crazy enough to correctly translate such madness from Roal Dahl vision. The only thing that's not from the book is Wonka's relationship with his father but its still a nice touch to explain why he's detached from people
@vixxcelacea2778 Жыл бұрын
It's interesting how the titles are kind of inverted. In the other version from the 70's it's called "Willy Wonka--", but is far more about Charlie. In this it's called "Charlie--" and it's much more about Wonka. And yes, it's spot on for Roald Dahl's writing. It was also in the original. They go into a tiny door that actually is bigger than it looks.

A quick note, this isn't just a case of it being a Tim Burton movie, this movie is basically the book zapped onto the screen by Wonka's teleporter, with a backstory added Turns out, the original Willy Wonka movie, the book author just had all his decisions overturned and the book basically got turned into an hour long commercial for Quaker as they were a co-producer and selling Wonka branded chocolate at the time Yet somehow the Quaker commercial gets into the Library of Congress and not the book's TV incarnate?

@mercenarydelta7351 Жыл бұрын
@Lord Shennington The second book was a direct sequel to the first. Instead of ending off with Charlie and his family in the factory, the first book ended off with them and Wonka still flying towards it. It was also dramatically different because the book: - Had Charlie, Willy Wonka, Grandpa Joe and all of his family on the elevator. (Yes, they put the bed in it. - Had the elevator shoot out into orbit when they were trying to get back into the elevator. - Featured an empty space hotel that was about to open and was formally placed there by the US President. - Had alien creatures encounters. - Finally featured two very unorthodox candies where one makes you young by 20 years while the other ages you by a lot depending on how much you've taken. You should read it. It certainly fits the style of the movie, though I wonder how they're gonna tie it in as a sequel.

10:25, that is the entire point of these side characters. they contribute pretty much nothing to the story at all, they just get wiped and the parents being stupid is by design, it shows since the beggining that they are awful parents. This is just to contrast the healthy relationship charlie has with his family. The german woman lets her child be obese just as herself is (that's not fat shaming, that's just a movie fact). The blonde competitor makes her child be over competitive to the point where she feels no empathy for other people. The rich girl is spoiled by her spineless father even though he spoils her out of apparent love. The smart kid is pretty much the same thing as the blonde girl, he doesn't have empathy due to the fact he's so brainy and his parents are also spineless like the rich guy, but out of fear their own child because he's so smart.

and Charlie took it out of the tv aka took it out of the past is that not more powerful tech? being able to grab shit and move shit with your bare hands into the past?
@rashidwilliams874311 ай бұрын
Problem with that idea is that if it was time travel, then wouldn’t that mean anyone who was recording this program notice a chocolate bar appearing and replacing a prop? I think it’s a form of materialization where he changes a program after recording to send his candy bars so they can grab it from the screen.

U know , this movie kid scared the shit out of me as a child, i mean it's Roald Dahl, most of his novel do contain these kind of stuff, but it's still scary, like when the kid got sucked into the pipe, the other one swelled up, the other one fell into an incinerator, and one got minimized I could only calm down, when I saw them alive again at the last scene, except for the kid who got strechted too much
