Fun fact: a few scenes, usually wide shots, the Polar Express has over 12 carts. In the beginning the train was suppose to have double the amount of carts, but they changed it during production. At this point, multiple scenes had already been worked on for months. They decided not to redo it as it would cost too much money. You could argue that they lost some kids on the way to the North Pole.

But that is flawed logic. How can he not perceive Santa, when he perceives all of Santa's trappings: elves, gift sack, giant magic sled, harnessed to a bunch of reindeer, inside a magical industrial toy factory on the north pole. But seeing Santa is apparently a step too far, even though he's aware that literally everyone around him sees Santa. It's dumb and deserves all of HB's mockery.

For those wondering, the reason that 9:50 happens is because blue shirt kid says “Are you sure”. This is important because every time someone asks the girl that, she freezes up. It’s meant to be a big character development moment but yeah, that’s why her ticket says “lead” Edit: Another cool fact about this movie is that 10:33 is the only time a character is expressly (pun intended) named. Only other time I can think of is when all the kids are lining up outside the train to meet Santa. The conductor calls out a kid named Liam or something similar.

This holds a special place in my heart 'cause my school did a popcorn sale thing that my class won by a landslide. Basically we got the day off, got to watch Polar Express and at the start of the movie we had an all access snackbar of hotdogs, corndogs, nachos and popcorn. The school even got us that super salty liquid butter stuff and best of all - a hot chocolate machine. We drank hot chocolate and ate theater food while watching Polar Express so naturally I have super fond memories. Sitting there with a hotdog, corndog, a buttery small bucket of popcorn I drenched in that butter stuff and a big cup of hot cocoa.

1:23 that kid is wrong on several points. he says that the train was build by Baldwin Works in 1931, but it was actually built by Lima Works for the Pere Marquette Railway in 1941, and Pere Marquette was purchased by Chespeake and Ohio whih became the Chessie System. Since steam got replaced by diesel in the 1950s, the train was put in a yard and was restored in the 1970s and is today used for heritage service. 9:55 - When I was far younger, yes, I thought the dramatic pause was unwarranted. But after watching it again, it's actually supposed to showcase her growth. Earlier when Blue Coat was thrown into the coal by the hobo bro he discovers the girl was temporarily placed in charge of the train. Soon after, the real locomotive drivers call for them to stop the train. This scene showcases the girl's hesitance by covering her face in fear after blue robe asks her "Are you sure?" when she tells him which one is the break, showcasing her lack of confidence, or leadership as the movie so kindly points out on her ticket at the end. Now, the two plus Billy Bob Boi are in an alley with the girl in front leading the way. Of course, blue coat once again asks "Are you sure?" To which we see her improved leadership in action by having her reply "Absolutely." TL;DR, Character Growth between two scenes showcasing the girl. Though I do admit the pause should not have been that long.

Fun fact for High Boi: the locomotive was inspired by the Pere Marquette No.1225, which is now used for excursions around Christmas time in Michigan.
@overpoweredsteamproduction513 Жыл бұрын
To add on to this, the main reason for the inspiration was that the writer used to play on this locomotive as a boy when it was on display in a park! And since the number was 1225 the date of Christmas obviously you nob he wrote a story about it. This sold well, and since people recognized the locomotive, it allowed for a group of college students and train enthusiasts the chance to restore the locomotive to operation for tourist trains, which you can still do to this day 😉

I loved this movie as a kid, and one question I’ve always had is… *what if someone who wanted something fragile had their present go through the slide first*

My favorite part is when the ice breaks from the tiny pin but not the thousands of tons of steel train :D

11:41 I think this is because he doesn’t believe in Santa and only sees Santa after he believes

7:13 - I would have been thoroughly disappointed if you didn't include the Teriyaki Boyz song... But like Santa coming once a year, High Boi always makes sure our stockings get stuffed. 8:39 - Minor correction here, the kids see aurora borealis from Seymor Skinner's kitchen. 🤣 I've always thought the premise of this movie was "Tom Hanks drops acid, eats a bag of shrooms, chugs two bottles of E&J, and smokes an eighth to the face while playing with his toy train set, eventually passing out while Christmas Carols play in the background." Also, Akshually Kid is a great reminder of why I chose not to have offspring of my own. Just my luck, I'd end up with some nosy know-it-all prick sharing my last name, and I don't like competition!

4:47 pretty sure the idea is that the kid confused the shadows of the hobo dragging his stuff for the conductor dragging the girl to the front of the train so they were probably already quite far ahead or something idk. p.s. as a thomas fan, thumbnail has been given stamp of approval

The first time, I have seen this movie, it was in an amusement park (Europa Park) and they did a "4D-Kino" - meaning, they included touch to the sensations. The seats would rumble when the train was shaking; Some cool air blowing, when it was accelerating; Some bubbles or stuff would fly down, when it was snowy and so on. It was really cool

"Tokyo drifting the train" should replace "jumping the shark" because nobody knows where that came from anymore. Also tokyo drifting the train is infinitely more funny than jumping the shark

Even if it's horrible CGI by today's standards; I have a tradition to watch this movie every Christmas and I enjoy it every time 🎄

I went on a field trip as a kid to see this movie in 3D and remember getting the absolute worst headache ever. I am cursed to remember that skull splitter every time I think about this movie.
