I saw Anthrax on this tour in Columbus, Ohio with Fight (Rob Hlaford) as the backup band. Totally awesome show!

Man, Black Lodge was actually the first video and first song I heard from Sound Of White Noise. I watched the debut of it on MTV. I had no clue that Joey was gone, and replaced by John. Loved that song! Room For One More beginning always reminded me of Jaws theme, love that intro. Persistence of Time got me into Anthrax, but Sound of White Noise was what really really hooked me fully. I'm a fan of both eras.

Thrax & Zombie at the Tower. I was thrown out of that show twice. Back when they had floor seating, I jumped rows during Zombie and was booted as Rob invited the crowd on stage for their closer. Zombie was off the hook. Loved ‘em ever since. Ended up by the buses, met Jay who tried to score a bag from me (no weed, no party for me), he signed a pick and my ticket stub (remember those?), chatted up a journalist who gave me his pass, and I got back in half way through Thrax’ set. Got spotted by the same doucer security and he didn’t care about my pass. Got tossed hard. Was pissed! During the encore I crashed the gate and hid upstairs for the last song. Stayed up there until the lights were up, made eye contact with the same doucer down on the floor, flipped him off, and had 6 guys chasing me out the door and down the block. One of the best shows, I never really got to see. The icing to SoWN? The remix EP! Loved it.

I remember when I was listening to Only the first time . I was sad about Joey departure but man... I got no choice to embrace Bush. He's voice completely kick your butt. I hate changes in a band , but that time it was more than ok. Wonderful album and Charlie .... you are still the best and yes I'm going to have a coffee. Cheers ! ☕

Johns voice just fits the heavy metal version of Anthrax where Joeys voice just fits thrash Anthrax. Both are amazing. Both are pivotal in the sounds of Anthrax at the time they were singing. John can’t touch Joeys songs it just doesn’t sound right. Just like Joey trying to do a John song. The tone of the records honestly are depicted perfectly by the singers in their time. Notice now that Joey is back they are writing more thrash oriented songs again. If John was to do another album I guarantee it would be a slower metal groove heavy sound.
@rejeancomeau773 жыл бұрын
@@jefferybradford5936 I totally agree with you . Not many got a voice like John. I was happy and felt he have the right voice for Anthrax. I was up in the bus and ready for the ride . But both are totally good .

This is so weird. Anthrax is my favorite band and I don't get why this is so weird- Even when I talk to my buddies it's the same weirdness that's in these interwievs .Anthrax evolved in to this, nobody have to explain or defend it. It is what it is, haters gonna hate and lovers gonna love. I got butt hurt but I was a massive Joe-era fan but at the same time I couldn't care less when Neil was out the door. Feel gratitude over the things you have. I got anthrax and I love this band!

As a fan of Anthrax since the 80's. I will say that I never really gave this album or stomp 442 a chance. It was not what I was looking to hear. The Metallica Black album and This album pushed me to go more extreme with my metal choices.

I love Henry Rollins. Love him. BUT, I get the same feeling from him that I do with Dave Grohl when they talk about metal. Condescension. I feel like he's rubbing my head saying "you lil' metal guys are so cute." Pisses me right the fuck off.

Seems like the comment section is filled with people who got into this band later on. It wasn't what the early fans wanted and it opened a weak era for the band. It's not about not allowing change, it's about trying to sellout to the current trend that most of us hated.
@alexhicks58893 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it's totally about not allowing change Speak for yourself, no one else.
@willd47313 жыл бұрын
I can appreciate it, but it wasn't anthrax. It was almost like armored saint gone industrial.... It certainly wasn't a thrash album either. I think there are maybe only three songs that were more than 100 bpm.. It's also a bit hypocritical to get rid of a singer because he had a melodic singing style and melodic rock was passe' in 1993.. and then bring the same guy back 20 years later.. saying how great he was..
@cdy90193 жыл бұрын
I can't do it, it's just not Anthrax to me.. I am just old school I guess but John Bush did not belong in this band. Armored Saint is fine but wherever Bush sings it's gonna sound like Armored Saint. This was Anthrax going through the identity crisis of the 90's thank God they came back.
@willd47313 жыл бұрын
I agree. It sounded like armored saint decided to go industrial.
