I like that no matter how serious the crimes are there is always a bit of humor too uplift the dry sad terribleness of crimes committed, always something to laugh at or just smile!!! But the cases get solved!!!!

This is my favorite Charlie Chan movie for a number of reasons the gun the telescope the decoy the actors involved... Most importantly the absence of who is number one son... Pure detective work... And many surprises... I think this one is better than Sherlock Holmes... And having mystery... And then real explanation... one of my two favorite 1936 movies The other one being Charlie Chan at the circus

Thanks Mr. Ebert. The ones that are comparable to Holmes are Treasure Island and Wax Museum. I find it hard to watch Oland as Chan.

Great commercials, but unfortunately they are constantly interrupted by some old black-and-white movie.

This is my favorite of the Charlie Chan movies. But I really like them all . Did Warner and Sidney make any other movie? I would like to know more about Warner death and about his wife ?

I wish I could get rid of the progress line on the screen. The writing is distracting.

It appears the Golden Gate Bridge was under construction and not to far along (1933) I saw it in the background when Charlie Chan was flying into San Francisco.

@@fokkerd3red618 that is the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge going to Yerba Buena Island. It was completed in 1936 six months before the Golden Gate Bridge.

The more I see an ad the less I will buy any of their corporate crap! Save them for the mindless droves of ad fans,....when/if you find one. Corporate greed at it's best, and this is their best,.....annoying!
