Part of the reason it flopped is because they borrowed a lot of money from the state of Rhode Island, they were simultaneously making an MMO in the same universe, and they had a number of big names attached to the project. While it sold and reviewed fairly well, I think with all the money they put into it, they had to sell two or three times as many copies as they did in order to turn a profit.

Honestly I really do feel like Earthbound flopped because it was way too ahead of its time. A quirky weird RPG that turns into a dark and mind bending story by the end, people just weren’t looking for those kind of games in the 90s but now we have spiritual successors like Undertale and Omori that really take full advantage of being a quirky RPG with dark brutal elements later on and they’re INSANLEY POPULAR NOW!

I highly recommend The Suicide Squad, it's far better than the original one and has some actually good humor to it.
@shawnfields236915 күн бұрын
Yeah, I agree. Even better than the first Suicide Squad, and John Cena killed it as Peacemaker, and Nathan Fillion and his character fighting each other was the obvious highlight of the movie. And I'm glad Peacemaker got his own TV series because of the movie. So how was "The Suicide Squad" considered a "flop" again? One of the best movies of the year, that blew the previous film out of the water, and actually tried to do better than before and it does. They have to try again with a 3rd Suicide Squad film. If we can get an amazing anime LOTR movie, they can probably give us another amazingly done Suicide Squad. Even though I enjoyed the first one, Jared Leto's Joker nearly ruins the entire movie, and it's not as good as it should've been, but The Suicide Squad more than makes up for that. I saw it twice, because of how much better it was. I wasn't expecting it to be THAT good. I thought it'd be better than the first movie, but not by this much. It's so much better, that they don't even feel like they're from the same universe. They feel like how Suicide Squad SHOULD'VE been the first time around. Except with a less annoying Joker.

"If you make a good movie, it is more than likely not going to flop" Dungeons and Dragons...new-ish (at least not really had a movie made about it, not in this way) but still "Flopped" in the sense that no one went to see it in theaters because of post-covid, the economy slowly getting worse and worse, and they decided to release it what a week or so before the Mario movie? Like I get you can't always predict when movies are going to be hits, but Mario was kind of obvious. The sad part is, most people WANT to see something new, but people either don't have the money anymore or refuse to try something new when you have Netflix, Hulu, Disney+ just pulling out the worst written projects, and everyone's way more cautious to spend money when they don't even know if they're going to like it...mixed in with bad marketing these days of showing just about everything going to happen in the trailer which is beyond an annoyance. I think the only way a new idea is going to actually work is if they have an incredible trailer (which makes a huge difference, look at Scott Pilgrim) or just release it on streaming since more people are willing to watch something new when they're already paying for it.
