I HAVE TO HIRE minorities." Then, I got a part time teaching position. I was teaching for 5 years and a full time position was opened up. According to the contract ALL qualified personnel were to notified of the position. I wasn't notified and a minority got the position. I interviewed many times for teaching positions. What I found out was that the majority of the teaching positions were given to local minorities. So, I had to make it on my own. I know I"m not the only one who has gone through this. A Hispanic friend of mine went to interview and was handed a job with no interview and no flight simulator test required, as was standard. So there's that little fact. Many of the quota hires failed so many checkrides that they were prohibited from upgrading to Captain but were allowed to keep their jobs due to Union protection. It's just a fact whether you like it or not. Now they say they're going to have 50% hires black or female and the hair on the back of my neck is standing up thinking about it. Because the percentage of qualified applicants that happen to be female or black are just not at 50%. Probably closer to 15 or 20%.They WILL lower the standards as needed to fill that quota. Hey, I retired very young after a great 20 year career as an airline pilot. “DEI” has been a pretty big part of the game since I started back in late 2001. We had a female Captain almost cartwheel a 737 down the runway, who NEVER should have been in a cockpit. She survived a long time before it caught up with her. Because she was female, instead of getting retrained, ordered to perform further training like many are required to do from time to time, and still end up thriving in the aviation space, she made it all about gender, and made all kinds of acquisitions. The irony is that many of our best are from the so called protected classes of people. They decided to push themselves harder to insure they aren’t considered a quota hire.

I've got this "Scientific American" article on my computer where it says how psychologists have determined what it takes to produce an expert in any field. The answer is: 10 ( ten ) years of hard work.

Yeah, my parents jet went off the runway and they were stuck in mud for hours. Buses had to pick up the passenger’s and they(and my parents) had to fly from another jet. It turned out that the pilot was a woman and she was a DEI hire. That’s a FACT!! Delayed my parents(and others) for hours This would have never happened if the best applicant had gotten hired as the pilot!!

@3:52 Charlie asks the perfect question. Answer. Because they ONLY care about the number of boxes they have checked compared to others. It’s a running joke @ United that Scott Kirby is the poster child for DEI. ( since I am currently an active employee of United, I can neither confirm nor deny these allegations).

Do you know how pilots are trained? Briefly, pilots need a minimum of 1,500 hours to receive their ATP certificate. To achieve this, many pilots teach student pilots to accumulate the required flight hours. Given this, how is it possible that white student pilots taught by black pilots are considered more qualified for jobs than the black pilots who trained them?
@RetiredFreeBird6 ай бұрын
@@ahmorgan maybe some ppl just have a knack for things. some would describe it as "their calling." and no matter who teaches, the student is supposed to get better. Can you imagine what it would be like if if a medical student didn't get better than the doctor that taught him? Everybody needs to be better at their job than the person that taught them.
@ahmorgan6 ай бұрын
@@RetiredFreeBird You aren't responding in good faith. Charlie is being a racist and exposing his ignorance and arrogance in regards to black pilots and their education. I am giving facts as to how the training of pilots takes place. I know white and black pilots, I have my PPL. I know what it takes to become a pilot. Charlie is wrong. Period.
@Less1leg27 ай бұрын
Charlie is spot on. DEI and Affirmative Action hiring practices have to lower the standards of qualification, because to meet thresholds. You have to make the hiring pool much bigger so that the selection process can find the TARGET GROUP that DEI needs supplying prospective numbers. But because you the Progressive HR Hiring Administrator ran this program, of course the net effect will be to understand, you made it about RACE, not about MERIT. So you cut off your nose to spite your face.

When a company starts drawing employees out of a limited pool, that pool gets drained very quickly because every other company is doing likewise and you end up with dregs.

40 years ago I was not hired in a job that I had worked part time at and I was seeking a full time position. The manager said to me, "Sorry, we can't hire you because you are not black and/or not female....... they hired someone to meet their quota and that person had no clue what they were doing and could not do the job...... I had worked there in a part time basis for a couple years..... I just wanted to move from part time to full time.

I don't want anyone doing a job where they hold my life in my hands to be picked upon any other quality than their ability to do the job with excellence. What was wrong with meritocracy? We hadn't long got rid of our class system interfering with meritocracy in the UK and we're now we're having this new class system foisted upon us. We got it right with meritocracy. Yeah, let's have plenty of diversity in these workplaces but for the sake of the Gods don't lower the required standards for them.
@larrybremer49307 ай бұрын
SCOTUS recently ruled against racial preferences for college admissions in SFFA v Harvard, so there is hope that such practices will come under much more scrutiny since they are all basically written to exclude straight White or Asian males no matter how qualified they are. This overturns nearly 50 years of precedent of the interpretation of the civil rights act and is a step toward the downfall of affirmative action on which DEI is based both for college admissions and employment opportunities. The only people who deserve a helping hand are the people who truly are disadvantaged such as the disabled or preferences that are earned such as veteran status or community service rather than one granted by birthright or a proclaimed sexual preference and/or identity.

U have to be an idiot to listen to Charlie Kirk. The irony of a guy who's not a pilot, never had pilot training, speaking about qualifications he knows nothing about. Yet, you believe him because he's white lol. That's affirmative action. His ignorance is obvious. Just so you know, in order for any pilot to qualify for their ATP certificate, you need minimum 1500 hours flight time. The majority of pilots get that flight time from training other pilots. That means, the vast majority of these so-called DEI pilots are training and being trained by the white pilots you racists claim are more qualified. So again, explain to me how it's possible the black pilots are unqualified yet the people the train are?
