Property taxes should ABSOLUTELY be abolished. Otherwise you are PERMANENTLY renting YOUR LAND from the gov't, even if you paid off your house. The gov't can take it from you at any point.

Property tax is one of the few things I disagree with Charlie on. Property tax is theft and should be abolished. Especially since you pay property tax to own it. You pay a tax to buy it and sell it as well. Why is property taxed so heavily? It's a joke. I wanna abolish property tax.

I jumped through some of the clip but bought the part where Charlie said well if you don’t want to pay property tax don’t by property is very eye opening. Property tax is evil. I try not to get bought in the single issue voter trap but I can’t let that pass. In parts of Texas it is a serious problem. People in middle class to upper middle class neighborhoods are paying up to and more than $1,000 a month. In fact I really believe it by itself is justification for armed rebellion. Federal income tax is to but I’ll keep it to property tax for now.

In countries where there is no welfare state parents make a way and pay to educate their kids. The very poor May receive assistance thru Non-federal organizations or extended families. It is very possible.

A big problem with your facts is once the property tax is in the treasury or where ever it is kept, congress treats as their own and will spend it on whatever they want. I don't know that there is any oversight on what the property tax money is spent on. Does anybody out there know more than I do?

It is WAY past time for us to get with the times. Eliminate public education as it is today, all the information you need is on the internet. Teach the basics of language and math and history but let kids follow what they are passionate about. A child learns a subject they have a passion for at 20 times the rate of a subject they are disinterested in.

I like Charlie and agree with most everything he says but he is dead wrong about property tax, I have no children or schools within 15 miles of me so why should 40$% of my property tax go to fund schools, here in Florida we voted for the lottery which said in return they would pay for schools but mysteriously they came to Florida but somehow I'm still paying for schools?
@funtimefoxy66995 ай бұрын
The children who attend those schools are the service workers and leaders of the future. They will at some point either save or destroy this country. Do you care enough about the country to give them a fighting chance - or do you expect the country to fall apart? One of the hardest lessons I've learned in life came off as a personal attack on me: "It's not all about you." And as angry as those words made me, they sank in and saved my life. So I'll try to help you as well and say: It's not all about you. Except that, in the end, it actually is. You just can't always see it.

@thatguyrich98225 ай бұрын
It might seem fair until you realize that the state is the one who assess the value. If the state wants more money, you're property value suddenly goes up.

@@wickedbird1538 that is great your mom is no longer responsible for paying property taxes. Not sure where she lives bit that is not the case everywhere. You do understand some folks in their later years are paying more in property taxes than their mortgage payment was. To me that is a crime. Where I live we pay more in school taxes than in real estate taxes. I do not nor have I ever had children in the local schools. They increase those school taxes every year.

It only applies to the elderly in houses under a certain value. I don’t know the limit. Her house is a small 2 bedroom 1 bath and she purchased it 40 years ago under some kind of neighborhood revitalization program near a college in Texas. She has a police training facility next door and neighbors who care about her. Fortunately, I have brothers with construction skills who keep it up. We are very lucky
