One of my favorite movies is The Spirit of St. Louis. Jimmy Stewart played the role magnificently. From 1957 it is inspiring and a much watch.

I remember seeing the Spirit of St. Louis suspended high in the air when my parents took us all the way to Washington, D.C., as a child. While too young to understand its historical value, it made a lasting impression in my mind. Lindbergh was an amazing man, an inspiration the world over. Seems his bravery knew no boundaries, I can't even imagine having been a wing walker much less flying across the Atlantic on your own!

I’ve seen it there as well. Most people didn’t give it a second glance. I was blown away by it. He was certainly brave. Much braver than I could ever be. :)

Awesome lesson. Thanks for telling us. I never heard about how much trouble he had flying across the Atlantic. Thank you Brad.

I remember seeing the movie as a child, and years later was surprised and delighted to see The Spirit Of St Louis, the actual historic airplane, on display in the Smithsonian so close it seemed like you could reach out and touch it !

I had the same experience. I love the Smithsonian. :)

Your channel came up in my feed. 67 yo now, and I ALWAYS listened to Paul Harvey with my dad when it was on. This is a cool idea for videos! Although..... Re: Lindbergh, there is definitely the rest of the rest of the rest of the story re his legacy.

I agree completely. I could’ve gone on for hours. There’s so much interesting about him. :)

Sir, it seems you have a heart for aviation history. You should do a story on Gustave Whitehead! A true pioneer of powered flight! Dave.

I’ll definitely look into it. Thank you for the tip. :)

In the intro you said that Paul Jr was a creator of his father's broadcast. Maybe a creator of some episodes, but not the show...
@BradDison3 күн бұрын
Yes. In interviews, Paul Harvey said the Paul Jr. had the idea for "The Rest of the Story" but Paul explained that he didn't have the time required to do it because of his other broadcasts. Paul Jr. tried again, and Paul explained his busy schedule wouldn't allow it. Finally, Paul Jr. tried again. This time, Paul told his son that if he would write the episodes, he would record it and see how it went. The whole show was Paul Jr.'s idea and he wrote each episode. :)

In addition, Paul Jr. ended his career as a classical pianist to devote all of his time to "The Rest of the Story."

We have killed that in America today. Laws, regulations, rules have all but stopped ingenuity, creativity in young people. Imagine where we could be without all the help from our governments.

It seems that way, doesn't it? I have hope for the future. :)
