Charlie's Thanksgiving 2024 Preparation video

New Orleans native Charlie Andrews prepares over 15 items for Thanksgiving in almost full detail with some measurements and cooking times. @@stephanied1028 The fact that you realize that you can improve in that area is a positive in itself you would be surprised how many people don’t think it’s an issue. Something that works for a lot of chefs is to gather and measure out as many ingredients as possible in advance when you just need a tablespoon or two of something you can use shot glasses to hold those spices and or liquids, until you’re ready for them and create the list of steps of what you need to do , in numerical order;making sure that you put back all of your ingredients as soon as you can after putting a lid on your food or closing the oven this way by the time your meal is done cooking,everything will pretty much already be put up and all you have to do is clean your counters and maybe soak some dishes. Neither have I it's been a goal of mine to understand how to make pie crust from scratch rather than always buying them from the grocery store. I'm usually finished cooking and baking the day before Thanksgiving, except for the dressing. I have it ready, and put it in the oven Thanksgiving morning. Charlie has given me a goal. This year, my goal is to have everything but the dressing ready two days before. ❤

Charlie- you don’t need to apologize for enjoying the fruits of your labor early. Everything looked delicious. I start cooking days ahead of Thanksgiving too because we have about 20 different dishes including turkey, ham and chicken and sausage gumbo. But my issue is how to reheat all the dishes on the day because we use large foil pans and one oven is just not enough so that so my dishes stay hot. I’m about 5 mins from N.O. ksbor the crow flies.
