Another amazing hit from "Some kind of wonderful", one of the best movies and best era in music and entertainment in general, the 80s. Loved it then and still love it. I just turned 57 recently and this music is timeless, so are the movies. So great.

I heard he was playing a club in Austin, Texas with bandmates of Stevie Ray Vaughan after Vaughan's passing. As a tribute to their beloved friend, they named the band after him "ARC ANGELS." Finally! I fell in love with this song in "Some Kind of Wonderful " but never knew who it was. My daughter, who now has children a couple of years from my age when I first heard it, was looking for a song from one of the John Hughes' movies. After rattling off the obvious ones that weren't the one she was looking for, I went on a deeper dive and finally found this gem!! Oh, this song gives me all the feels! All my Gen X friends, we were so lucky to grow up in a time where the evolution of music was so exciting. John Hughes knew how to elicit teen angst with a perfect soundtrack every time! Priceless memories here! 💖

I asked him why he wanted to make the 1st Record he made when he Came Directly out of the Stevie Ray Vaughan school of Blues guitar playing. He told me; "Stevie would Leave the Stage, hand me HIS guitar .. i'm 14, 15..and I would Play w/ HIS Band w/o him even being on Stage. He did that w/ NO One Else.. Other people who 'sat in' Sat IN w/ Him.. which was a Thing.. BUT.. When it was time for me to make my record I wanted Keith Forsey. Keith did Billy Idol's stuff.. I wanted to BE Different than Stevie Ray Vaughan.. I wanted to be NEW! I was 17. I was not an OLD Blues Guitar kid.. I was ... " (that's a paraphrase, I wasn't taking notes.)

I haven't heard this song in 30 years since I last heard it in a bar in Orlando, Florida in 1994. It really takes me back to 1986. A lost hit from the 80's but not to those who appreciate great music.

Tens across the board for this legendary song and performance. Charlie Sexton is an 80’s icon with that perfect hair and his skinny rockstar physique. To. Die. For. ✨🤘🏼😎✨

I met him a few years after this song came out, with Doyle Bramhall + Arc Angels, they were the coolest, nicest guys you could ever imagine. I remember getting the 45. It was not in the Top 100 and sometimes the record store would have a box in front of the register selling these 45's. I remember getting Just another day by Oingo Boingo and the girl who I knew who worked there, insisted I get the Charlie Sexton 45 for free, cause I was regular customer since the store opened in 1980. I never heard the song before on the radio. I thought it was okay. Then in 1987 it was in the movie Some kind of wonderful. I saw it at the theater so I started to like the song better. I got rid of a lot of my 45's, but I did keep this record.

He was scheduled to come to a hole in the wall called Iroquois in Roanoke, Va back in the day. A bar/young spot, underage drinking and all that. Being a high schooler at the time it was a great place to be. Lots and lots of bands, pool tables, chicks. [not meant to be derogatory in any way]. Had a ticket. and it was cancelled. I'm still sad about that........ Man O Man. The 80's!
