It does look like a slotted ladle or skimmer that I use when cooking. But context would definitely tell me 1. We are on ice, fire is probably a no go. 2. Why would we have soup with no fire and no cook pot. 3. Why would we have soup. Ergo no its not a soup ladle.

My sister got lost, but saw the lake and knew we lived by one of the boat landings so she drove out on the lake. Her boyfriend was from California, he panicked and thought she was crazy. Then a few days later to and from church my dad took a short cut. . .across the lake. And that day was more busy with a ton of cars on the lake. Pointing out all the card and trucks either parked or driving on the lake didn’t reassure him it was safe.

😂😂😂 My dad did this with the exchange student we hosted from Venezuela, after she SPECIFICALLY asked him to warn her just before we drove out. Twenty years later, she was the one laughing her head off at the story, telling her husband when we came to visit. Good memories!

Yeah, in California we are straight up told to never go out on the ice. Very few places in the state get that cold for a long enough time to be anything more than a death trap. Stories and videos of people or pets falling through are not uncommon. I didn't even dream of setting foot on a frozen lake until I moved to Eastern WA, and discovered I couldn't really fish year-round unless I went ice-fishing...

Hilarious. Now do the types of ice fishermen... the under prepared, the over prepared, the snowmobiler who doesn't like fishing, the drunk, the player, the explorer and Mr. Quiet Angry. Oh yeah and the seasoned veteran.
