Why do I find these places beautiful
@davidb87778 жыл бұрын
Hard to imagine that this post apocalyptic city is actually in the US! Anyone with a car and a couple hundred bucks for gas would be smart to get out of there ASAP!
@benjamingleason96168 жыл бұрын
Hi Charlie. Did the buildings become abandoned over time or did it sort of all happen at once when the car companies stopped making cars there? I find your videos fascinating! I live in MA and have never been to Detriot, but there is a city in MA, Lawrence, that sort of has had a similar look to Detroit (not nearly as big, though.)
@CharlieBo3138 жыл бұрын
It was a combination of factors. The riots of '67, loss of jobs, and then many more left because of the high crime rate. Then many people walked away from their homes because they couldn't sell because of the neighborhoods. Many of the homes became rental properties to low income people who didn't take care of them. Also some of the landlords were slum lords.

It has a lot to do with chasing the cheapest ( slave wages) labor overseas and throwing the American worker under the bus to save a buck. Support USA and buy American when you can. Pass it on. Whats on your feet overseas made ? or American Made ? You can buy a pair of Nike's for 150 Made in china or a pair of New Balance for 125 Made In The USA. Support the American worker.

The New Balance Factory is in Lawrence, MA- the city I mentioned in my first comment.

Some pretty trees in this clip.
@FreshLyte8 жыл бұрын
Interesting point, I have noticed the boulevard trees in many of his videos. It is amazing to think they were planted at a time when the city was probably thriving and completely different then this. The people who planted and originally tended to them probably never thought the trees would one day be living within this urban decay. They tell a story for sure and one day if the area is ever revitalized I hope they are still a part of the hoods.

Why is there soo many demolished, abandoned houses?
@Tapport8 жыл бұрын
Nobody to move in and maintain them. There is also no point keeping them maintained since there are no buyers who will care what it looks like.

That's a real problem down there my buddy bought a few houses last year and by the time he started to do improvements they got broken into and windows doors removed you almost have to hire an arm security guard

Hi charlie most areas seem to be almost totally devoid of people what percent of detroit is actually populated? You make videos that show what the city of detroit has become besides the downtown area is the local govt even planning to try to repopulate detroit? Ive never seen such devastation outside of warzone ravished areas.
@CharlieBo3138 жыл бұрын
The entire city isn't like these videos. There are large vibrant areas too. I'm not sure what percentage of the city is abandoned, but its a lot especially on the east side. I guess they figure if they revitalize the downtown area which they have done and are currently doing that will help to repopulate the city. But people aren't moving to areas like this, they are moving to the Mid Town and Downtown areas.

CharlieBo313, The last report that I read about a year ago, stated that there were some 60-80K abandoned houses, commercial buildings, and apartment buildings in Detroit and there are maps showing their locations... And I have seen in your videos, The Shea Show videos, and Walter Gildersleeve's / Detroit Street Watcher's videos that there are streets that look very nice with well cared for homes on one end of the block and heavy blight on the other, whole blocks of well kept homes in one and the next street over... And then, there are abandoned homes mixed in... I was trying to see if there a pattern or a reason for what is seen...

Dale McNamee I hope Charlie doesn't mind , you can add another detroiter to the view list. Search for Fochnut on here, he busts dumpers and pumpers if ya know what I mean. He does a return to sender with trash he finds 😂
@dalemcnamee24278 жыл бұрын
MrTheHillfolk, I've seen Fochnut's videos and he is fiercely courageous in what he does ! Walter Gildersleeve busted a "dumper" in his neighborhood at a an abandoned house and has a video of it. The amazing thing was that the "dumper" thought that it was "OK" to dump there since the place was abandoned !

How do you feel about all the racist in your comment section? It makes me really mad.
@CharlieBo3138 жыл бұрын
I don't like it at all. It's the world we live in. I think racism is ignorance, and people who post racist comments are cowards. People are more alike than they are different, poor people of different races, with low educational attainment, and no jobs, or job opportunities all have different, but bad habits. People's social status have more to do with their behavior than their skin color. I delete a lot of racist comments before they are even seen, and block a lot of people from commenting. Some I haven't even seen yet. I thought about disabling comments on some videos but decided not to.

How do you feel about solutions and calling out people with the truth ? IMPORTANT READ ---- Ya ya ya, many are star stuck, so they get all giddy when a celebrity like Sean Combs (Net worth 700 million) Russel Simmons (net worth 400 million) Dr J (net worth 700 million) Beyonce ( net worth 450 million ) gives a little donation, charity here and there to places like flint, Detroit ect . Give a speech then there gone. It doesn't even put a little dent in there pocket books. If they really wanted to help they would make there clothing in places like Flint and in the USA. Giving the people a decent paying job to live on a fair decent wage in inner cities in America. Instead of overseas where people get slave wages in China. But it is there choice, a hand out, instead of a hand up. Jobs overseas instead of Flint and places like Flint in the USA. Many people question why they aren't willing to spread there blessing among-st the places many of them have come from, places like Flint Detroit. And help Americans have decent paying jobs. Greed could that be, all talk no action. This is the truth why not call them out ?
