For many years now I've been using my old Henry HVR200 for all my DIY jobs, but with just a 9 litre capacity the dust bags fill up very quickly, so I decided it was about time I got a new vacuum actually designed for DIY.
I didn't want to spend too much on this so I was attracted by the Titan range, and ended up buying the 30 litre version bit.ly/2neXzPY as it has a whopping 25 litre dry capacity whilst still being portable. The 40 litre looks a bit more of a pain to carry around. At £54.99 it seemed incredibly good value, especially when you consider the nearest equivalent - the Stanley Fatmax (see link below) retails at between £110 and £160 and the DeWalt is £450!
So take a look at my review and let me know what you think.
Basically in conclusion, the Titan has a great, powerful motor at 1400watt, and a huge dry capacity and was able to vacuum up all the dust between the rafters of my bedroom on just one bag. I'm basically happy with my purchase, as you're getting a lot of tool for your money.
However what lets it down is the plastic accessories, which in my opinion are not fit for anything except perhaps connecting to power tools.
The thin diameter of the tube set means you get regular blockages, and perhaps most fundamentally, the dust bags don't fit tightly onto the tank tube inlet, meaning that when you vacuum up brick dust/ soot, the dust escapes out of the bag and into the drum itself, and is in danger of damaging the motor, as I found quite a lot of dust INSIDE the air filter.

I use the size 1 and 1/0 Mustad hooks to freeline for snook kzbin.infoUgkxzXmlErSqVAEGWFEKO530BvTqFDw53QW3 and they have been fantastic. The points are super sharp, and the hook is small enough to blend with my baitfish, yet large enough to land fish 30" or more. I also use these hooks when I'm pier or surf fishing with my kids. They tend to catch tons of smaller snapper, whiting, and catfish, and we get far fewer gut hooks with these Mustad in-lines, which means more of them survive after release. I was actually using these hooks when I caught my friend too, but I think that had more to do with the bait I was using ;-)

Had one of these for 2 years and worked great especially plugging tools into the hover to activate the dust extraction. Quick tip, when the bag is full, carefully cut the end, empty it then roll it back and secure with a few bulldog clips, I get 5-6 full loads before the bag is useless

Top quality review Chalie 👍🏾 I own both of these machines. Bought Henry second-hand about 7yrs ago and Titan new around 4yrs ago. Work as a bathroom fitter and old Henry accompanies me daily. He heats up a bit after 10 mins of constant use but so far has not burst into flames nor refused to put in a shift. Has been dropped, down stairs a plenty and has always kept smiling 😁, good old H! Bought Titan as I needed a wet vac and it was on offer at screwfix (I think I paid around £40 for it). Have never used it dry and couldn't find the bits for it if I dug through the garage for a week. However, as a wet vac it is perfect, very powerful but noisy. I use it a lot for clearing tricky branches of central heating pipe and it removes all traces of moisture before soldering. Excellent for emptying rads, WC's, unlocking sinks etc. Huge vacuum also brilliant for cleaning carpets, rugs, car/van interiors after washing. To conclude, wouldn't swap H for anything (nice to see him smiling up at you at the end of a hard day) but I find Titan is unbeatable at price for wet work.

Had my Henry for over 10 years now and still on the same motor. Admittedly I only use it for detailing vehicles, but I do come across some very dirty cars and my Henry never struggles. Would never change it.

I own both of these. I’ve reserved the Titan almost exclusively for use with my track saw and any sanders I use, that is to say, in the garage(workshop). It does a serviceable job of keeping the dust down, the bag doesn’t fill too fast & the power take off is useful. I’d suggest if you were after an all-round vac for ‘building’ style work, to pick up the Lidl version next time its on special, it’s very good indeed. The tools are on a par with the Henry too. The Henry, whilst rugged, I’ve reserved for domestic work. Interestingly, it’s the new style energy efficient one, and I haven’t noticed any drop in power compared to the old style one I own (which I’ve left at my rental property). I can only summarise that they’ve done some work on increasing the efficiency of the air flow between the older and newer models, and not just dropped the HP of the motor! Anecdote 1: I used to work in the accommodation services arm of a certain large University in the West Country, and Henrys were standard issue in student accommodation. The only reliable way the students found to kill them was by using them as a wet vac. I *might* have built my own Henry out of spare parts from Dead Henrys… Anecdote 2: I have it on good authority that the Royal Navy use Henrys on their nuclear subs, without any bags, and they seem to last ok. That said, there’s not much to do on patrol, so I can imagine junior rates spending their days fixing Henrys, same as I used to….

Great comment, mate. You raise lots of good points there and yes, the Numatic engineer endorsed that when I was researching for the new motor. He said efficiencies in the new models make up for the wattage drop. The problem with my old machine which I should have said in the video is that I have a 620watt motor on an old machine that doesn't have the new air flow efficiencies. End result, less suction.

The Numatic Henry is a design classic. I am a floor sander so produce huge amounts of sawdust, we use fairly industrial H Class extractors for that. But at home I use the Henry. Every single nut and bolt is available as a spare part and it’s very easy to work on, it’s one of the few electrical products left on the market that hasn’t been designed with planned obsolescence in mind. It’s a simple design, extremely quiet, robust, lightweight, I would choose it over any Dyson in their range, and certainly over any of the battery operated vacuums that are becoming popular. There’s a reason why most cleaning companies in the UK use Numatic vacuums. They work and keep on working. The Titan on the other hand, made in China, from cheap materials, I’d be amazed if any of them last longer than a year with any decent amount of use. They’ll all be in landfill within 2 years, not degrading, for 800-1200 years.....

I have the cheaper Titan vac whech came recommended by a builder for its robustness and throw away price. It suffers exactly the same problams as the one you tested ( same bags) but I've been happy with it so far.

This video is a good summary of my experience with low cost equipment and why I am now trying to overcome my innate tightness and spend more on quality items that are a pleasure to use, rather than battle with the deficiencies of too good to be true priced stuff. It does boggle my mind how the manufacturers of cheap tools seem to be able to get wrong even the most fundamental aspects of the products they are trying to make! Charlie. You can repair the Henry body crack really easily. Either used a 3D printing technique of melting ABS in acetone to make a slurry (ABS dust or shards, melted in Acetone over night will turn into a paste ideal for gluing or filling holes). Or use as Soldering iron (an old flat tip not your best soldering tip) and zip ties as welding rods to weld the crack closed (a motorcycle hack for repairing ABS fairings). I have used both but used the soldering iron welding technique on my wheelbarrow as I thought that would be stronger, as I was able to add more material to the damaged area to build up the surface far more quickly than with the chemical weld. I hope that helps.

I own both and have always used a Henry floor tool and dust brush. I've never had any of these problems with mine and I use it as a dust extractor, it's superb. I also bought an after-market hose extension don't have any problem with hall, stairs and landing, I can leave it at the foot of the stairs. I had a sparkie mate make an extension for the dual tool feature and it works a treat.

Hi Charlie, I run a cleaning business and they all use henries, I have not had any complaints and the business has been running for five years now ( without any of the henrys needing replacement). You can get a cloth bag with a hard rubber end that can be emptied and reused although I have not used these because my staff doesn't want to have to empty them. As for the titan, I have one that I added a dust deputy to it and a 55-gallon barrel, I use it in my hobby woodwork shop and I have had to empty the barrel twice and there is no sign of any dust on the filter or the motor. Another good point about the titan was that the wheels were not attached and this made it easy to add to my system and I just added the wheels to the wood base that holds the vacuum, dust deputy and barrel.

Greetings from France, we have a karcher wd2 ...paid 50 euros (about £45 at the time of purchase) for it, the bag capacity is small, but there is never any dust on the inside of the canister EVER! 1000watt motor powerful enough for my diy and use around the house and car! i have changed the hose and replaced the plastic tube for a metal one, luckily for me my last shopvac tools fit the karcher! If need be i can actually join the karcher hose and old shopvac hose and have a 6m reach! tyvm for the vids, keep up the good work.

Sounds awesome, that! Yes, always have dust inside the canister. The designers who presided over the overly large hole in the dust bag should be sacked! Also annoys me that there's no cable tidy, so much so that I've now coiled up the entire lot and zip corded it to the handle! And the hose kinks often because the plastic is so flimsy.

Almost 2 years since you originally posted this video I know. No matter, came across it whilst considering the Titan as my next "workshop vacuum". Agreed with all the negative points you raised so looked a bit further for another piece of kit somewhere between Titan @ c. £50 and Henry @ c. £130. The answer I came up with was the VacMaster Power 30 PTO. It costs £90 and has s/steel suction tubes, larger diameter 2.5m hose and full floor head. You can even upgrade the filter to a HEPA one for £16. Finally a pack of 5 x 30L "fine" dust bags are only £15. This is the piece of kit I ordered as I think it does everything the Titan does but better. Even with the HEPA filter and a set of 30L bags it came in at £120. I did however get 10% for setting up an account and so got a top class package £22 or 17% cheaper than standard Henry. FWIW I’ve owned the same Titan for nearly five years. I bought it both for DIY use and as a shopvac for use with power tools. I added the Rockler Dust Right Universal Small Port Hose Kit, which is a perfect fit into the Titan, and also has a much wider hose. It’s been more than fine in that time, but I agree that the hose and accessories supplied are not great. Still, for the money, it’s been a great buy.

Thanks for the review, it makes several very interesting points. I use an old henry with hepa bag installed, but connect it to a self made 25 litre cyclone of sorts that collects almost all of the debris, even the very fine plaster dust etc. I rarely need to change the bag and because of this, the suction stays high for much longer. I made a simple cart that holds both, one above the other so the footprint is about the same as the Henry itself.

@@TheKlink Yes, very similar, but I mounted my separator above the vac to keep the footprint as small as possible. Also I made a 'Thien Baffle' to make the separator a little more efficient. A google search will provide more info about this, although the example that you linked above seems pretty efficient anyway.

I bought my Henry in early 1993 after using them in automotive glazing where we used them without the filters to pickup glass pieces and any other crap and detritus and they just kept on going. In the depots we used large capacity Numatics. Mine is about 1000 watts and would have taken up your floorboards up no problem as well as the carpet. Have to use the suction control sleeve on metal tubes to keep it under control. Best vac I ever bought and still going strong.

I bought the 40litre version six months ago. Several of the issues have been sorted, certainly the bag connector. I’ve used it a fair bit over six months and the bag is still only half full! The accessories are indeed cheap and that’s the main drawback. But the power is great (1600w I think). I have the same mitre saw as you Charlie and hadn’t realised it exceeded the permissible wattage. It does still work when plugged into the Titan but I did notice a lag of three seconds or so before it turned on. I’ve only used it for sawdust so far so no blockages. Overall impressed

In actual fact, I've since found a great use for it. It's really designed as a static shop vac and when you attach it to a cyclone like I did here kzbin.info/www/bejne/b4PJeaOjZ9uZapI removing the terrible dust bag design issue, it's pretty good. Good work using the wet vac feature. I've never actually used it was a wet vac. I tend to use my George for that.

My Henry is 600w lo power and 1200w on hi power. I did have to buy a new on/off switch for it but its had 6.5 years of abuse including the metal pipe being run over and bashed back into shape again. As a tradesman I would not be without it, it may not have the capacity of some but then it takes up less room in the van. If I need to suck up a lot of rubble as in your video, I have a very cheap ash can attachment which needs no bag and will take all of the rubble without a problem. You get what you pay for and Henry is the champ.

I have a smaller version: the Titan TTB350Vac. I bought it a few years ago for a bit more than 20 quid (it's 35 quid now), which is a real bargain. It lives in my workshop and only does light duty. The key for me was that at that price I could afford to have one specially for the workshop rather than dragging out the house vacuum cleaner when I needed to clean up. I agree about the quality: it's definitely cheap and cheerful (mine gets blocked too), but I think the core of the machine is pretty robust and great value for money. PS. Well done for resisting the temptation to make an awful joke like: "Vacuums suck!"

I've been using the 16l titan for woodworking for a few years now, I don't use any bags or even a dust filter (I didn't get one with it, I was given it 2nd hand and abused) it only has the wet foam filter thing. It still works, and I don't really look after it so I can't complain.

Wickes own brand circa £50 wet and dry + £15 universal filter that is designed to ditch the need to change for wet or dry, being a plumber use this mainly for wet and can say last much longer than the Charles, great for sucking out blockages and draining radiators with. I have one of the origins Henry’s called the TX-TX. After nearly 25 years use I still goes on and on. It is still compatible with all current numatic Henry spares and accessories. Well done Numatic. Been using an old Vax for years. Very like the Henry in many ways. I've treated it badly but it's kept going for well over 15 years on the same motor. Bought it its first new filter set this year.

My first DIY vac was a Karcher. Loved it and it saved my bacon so many times when I had a water spillage to deal with. Then I've decided that I want an automatic power switching capacity and got myself a Bosch GAS 20L. Kind of loved the vac but then I've become more aware of the dust issue and that I just could not get any M or H class filters to fit onto that L class Bosch. Needing to with with MDF and other fine dust I became more and more aware of all the fine particle dust that Bosch GAS 20L was still spewing out. A 20 litres capacity is really a con fore only about 6-7 litres would fit in branded bags before everything started to "suck"! Then on the local forum someone was giving away a Henry vac. Two speed one with some spare bags. Having been pretty annoyed at high noise from both the Karcher and the Bosch vacs I was amazed at how quote Numatic's Henry was. It still has great suction even at the lower setting and what I absolutely loved was an abundant availability of spare filters all the way to HEPA inset one. It does drop the power a little but it is still powerful, it is quite and Henry's much smaller bags fill all the way to the brim. These bags cost a fraction of Bosch bags and feels like they do at least as much if not more of the job. My vote goes for Henry all the way. If I ever need a new vac I'd be looking at Numatic range much more favourably than both Karcher or Bosch. I've even had a short encounter with Dewalt's vac but that was such a large and cumbersome monster that sent shivers down my spine as it felt like a steam locomotive was behind me and I was sitting on the railway track, as it was roaring and clapping its self-cleaning filters.

Thank you for a great review of a cheap, badly made vacuum aimed at DIYers. However, I agree with the 11 comments recommending using a cyclone separator. It will capture most of the dust/debris in a bagless container whilst preserving the life of the vacuum motor and air filter which will be drawing mostly clean air through it. The downside is having to make the vacuum+cyclone portable but there are plenty of good videos from You Tube woodworkers showing how to build a cart for this purpose. I would like to hear your opinion on the vacuum+cyclone.

I have a very old Henry but as I am setting up a woodworking shop now that I'm retired, I bought a new machine very similar to your Titan from Aldi. It is a 1600W motor and has an automatic power socket built in. However, I do use it with a cyclone type separator on top of a big blue barrel from Amazon. The whole thing is cumbersome to move but works very well indeed in my workshop. If I had a job like your attick, I would make the effort to take all of the kit up there as almost no dust (sawdust anyway - old plaster dust may be another matter), reaches the vacuum. My cleaners used the Henrys at the care home I owned. Great little machines, staff alwats break things and it's surprising what they can break. From pulling curtains down, breaking toilet seats and wall sockets but the little Henrys lasted forever.

That's a good question Azza. I suspect the capacity takes into account the massive filter, and to be honest it's more than enough either way, for most jobs, if you think it did the whole floor on one bag. Thanks mate.. Plenty of vids in the pipeline. Just wish the inertia of life and the occasional demands of the day job didn't keep getting in the way!!

Just a couple of thoughts with regard to health, the Titan looks to be have a Class L filter, the minimum level whereas it's recommended to look for a Class M machine. The class M machines are pretty expensive but some Class L machines come with a Class M filter. Exactly why I decided to purchase a Nilfisk Aero 26/21 (screwfix 66972)(the machine is still class L as it requires auto cleaning etc to be properly classed as an M). It has the power take off which is very handy. The Titan can be upgraded with a HEPA cartridge (screwfix code 962FG) (the Wickes vac I used to have also used this cartridge). This upgrades collection to 0.3microns but it's still only a class L filter but will be an improvement over the supplied one. Also have a Henry, they have "HEPA-Flow" bags but these bags are not HEPA rated it's just a brand name. The internal filter is again not HEPA rated but you can purchase aftermarket HEPA filters on eBay/Amazon for £22-£25 ish not tried yet. Numantic do now produce a Henry Allergy HVA160 machine which looks like a Henry with HEPA filtration. Would recommend the Nilfisk, it's been fantastic.

As an electrician I worked for a firm and my boss kept buying Titans and they would get put in the van and other stuff as well, the Titan kept getting dented and the seem would go.it cost him more in Titans than it would have for one Henry. You can buy the reusable bags with a zip, brilliant they are. Would never buy Titan again, Henry vacs are bulletproof. Great video tho

For many years I had an Earlex combi vac. This came with 2" diameter hose and was fantastic. Sadly, the kids used it without a filter and the motor.......got... Well, a bit rough.! I was delighted to see that Wickes did an identical and cheap machine. I bought it immediately. The hoses, wet filter and dust bags all fitted it. It's an all round great machine, and has been well used. Very useful blower function too. I clean out the fabric bags and use them at least twice. Simply blow out debris then wash...!

I used a lenght of 60mm underground duct as a larger hose to vacuum out blocked cavity walls. Worked really well with the titan !!

I have an old Henry 2 speed 1600 w which is as good as it was when new 10 years ago because I always use a bag and clean the filter regularly and I love it because of its power and compact size , I also have a Karcher wet and dry that I only use for wet work and that to is a great machine and is really powerful for removing blockages from waste pipes etc....as you say always use a bag and you carn't go wrong......👍

I am in Australia and just borrowed a similar Vac which came from Aldi. 1200 watt motor. I needed it to clean out sediment from our Hot Tub (spa) and it was brilliant. Had never thought of using a W&D Vac for that. It was 30 Litre capacity and also had the extra power connection. As ever with Aldi, I will have to wait until the next time it becomes available.

The best DIY vacuum I have had was a 1990 vax power 4000. Basically just an old style canister vax. It was used domestically and for diy for nearly three decades. It had a replaceable cloth bag and I used it to suck up rubble, soot, ash, sanding dust etc during the renovations of five large houses. The only ever failure was a rocker switch. Sadly it recently took a tumble down some stone cellar steps which finally killed it. It was like loosing my first pet dog all over again, I was gutted!

I've had one of these as a DIY/shop vac for the last couple of years. It has done everything, including using with power tools, clearing up water leaks and even sucking up leaves. I've found that the plastic tubes have held up pretty well to hard use, though I only use it for diy etc, so not sure how the plastic head would do on carpets etc - it cleans my garage floor well enough. I've never really had a particular issue with the bag fit, the only issue i've had, is that like you, i've managed to block the tubes sometimes with larger debris. The only thing i've done is swap the standard filter for a HEPA one (which gets a regular good suck out with my dust extractor). Overall, for the money, I think they are excellent as an all round, affordable and hard wearing for DIY, and half the price of a Henry and only a fraction of the price of the Bosch and Dewalt shop vacs, though if you are want to use it for serious dust extraction then they would be much better (being M class), but that's not an issue for me as I have a proper dust extraction system for that.

I very much like your videos as you speak clearly and present in a direct snappy way . Came across this particular vid whilst google for reviews of the Titan vac. As a professional wood worker with a requirement for machine to be used for floor/ machine cleaning and adapting for power tool extraction my Henry has been superb. I have been able to replace on / off , hi lo rocker switches , PCB etc and always found helpful instructive vids on KZbin. However I must point out that you do the Henry a disservice as you seem to have bought the lower watt machine rather than the more powerful 1200 w. This is what I have only once experienced over heating due to full bag when machine was being used as dust extractor for floor sanding. From time to time I remove a bag and just shake so the waste settles at the bottom this preventing blocking and / or overheating. So not difficult to do and a simple case of tool care.

I bought the Henry xtra for housework use last year and wow is that thing powerful - too powerful infact. It can easily lift vinyl which has been glued down with contact adhesive and has lifted carpet from the gripper rod.

I got the small fully plastic one when it was on special. £30 or something with extra tough bags for a fiver. So far so good. Works for liquids. Can reverse it into a blower. The safety/instruction manual is hilarious. Full of really obvious stuff. I really like its bare bones basic design. I always see more fancy vaccums dumped in the street. I dont use it for really big stuff. Might modify/upgrade the tubes

Parkside (lidl) vac costs only slightly more than the titan but has a much higher build quality including metal pipes. If you are not in a hurry it is worth waiting for. I am on my second, the first lasted about 8 years of abuse before the bearings started to go, I now use it for rubble only as it whines terribly. The new one is used with a dust deputy cyclone and it is superb and the filter never clogs.

I've had a karcher wet and dry and its been good! Only problems are it tips over easily and its got a small wet capacity if your garage gets flooded..

Hello Charlie. I see the Titan had to borrow the Henry’s stainless extension pipe lol. After watching your video I’m even more happy with my red Henry I purchased on eBay from the mother country a few years ago. It was band new and with shipping cost $214AUS. So lucky to pounce on that one. I use it for my handyman business all the time to clean up and the main attachment tool I use is a Hyde hand plaster sander. When I take the lid off to check on the hepa bag, there is no fine plaster inside the base at all. That tells me the motor is safe and I’m not leaving fine plaster dust through out the home. I don't think so, as the diameter is so much larger. Really, this vac is designed to be a shop vac attached to a cyclone, as discussed here kzbin.info/www/bejne/b4PJeaOjZ9uZapI That way you don't need to worry about the vacuum bag.

Interesting review and yes the titan is cheaper by a considerable amount but that's the difference between the two. Just an idea that might be worth u trying is to look at the possibility of making a cyclone separation unit as i've seen alot of the woodworkers do to their vacuum unit and it really makes a difference

The whole ethos of the Henry is it is the ultimate modular vacuum, meaning no part of it isn't replaceable hence why they last forever. I doubt the new machine has this longevity and in a couple years time the design will have changed or a new unit used making it impossible to repair so you will have to buy a new one. I have a Henry, the top of the range big one which holds a lot more than the little baby ones, its 1200w too and super powerful, the hose snapped a couple weeks back and it cost me £6 delivered for a new one and I buy approx 5 a year of the washable bags again like £6 and it just keeps going.

im an electrical apprentice, and my dad gave me his henry from when he was a builder it was atleast 25! but then the idiotic plumber decided to borrow it and used it as a wet vac was gutted. i was going to buy the titan you featured in this video but then i saw on the screwfix website a 15ltr 800w dry vac. i purchased it to replace the old flooded henry. very simiar in terms of desigh and henry bags even fit it which is a bonus as i have about 50 spare ones lol. would highly reccomend the dry titan it has metal pipes and much better floor sweep end. my boss has the one you showed in this vid and tbh its pretty bulky and it gets blocked so often and the attachments are shite. would reccomend you try out the dry version as its so much smaller, quieter and better quality to the wet vac. cheers

@@CharlieDIYte yes mate they fit much better, the wet n dry one either drops off when its full of rubble and blocks the filter up. but my little dry one fits nice and tight. its got the same sort of filter as a henry a round bucket type which probably allows it to be used bagless but i havent tried it bagless... the bags are also a cloth type which are way better than the paper ones you get with the wet vac which just seem to split. pretty pointless even putting a bag in it in my opinion.

Still using my 25+ year old aquavac bulldog - has done the same work you are doing for my house restorations and for friends. I use it mostly as a car vac nowadays - never had a bag in it just the heavy duty filter. It's as noisy as hell and the wheels have long since departed but I think it cost £30 in a B&Q sale. I was looking at the Titan for future replacement so thx for helpful video!

Charlie, the DeWalt is a dust extractor not a vacuum. Different thing, they are rated L class, M class and H class. A couple of years ago HSE updated the requirements for commercial use from L class as a minimum to M class as part of their programme against respirable dusts and very probably move to H class at some point in the next couple of years. If you're using a face mask, for a disposable get FFP3 rated and for a half mask get P3 filters. Should be used for any dusty job.

Thanks for the review, I was thinking of getting the titan as its a dry and wet wash, but after seeing how the hose is thin and the bag doesn't hold the dust well it would probably either break down or need replacement parts sooner rather than later and by doing that it will probably cost you more then getting a Henry, think I'll just buy a Henry as it will last longer and apart from the body of the vacuum henry is better built.

Henry Hoover all the way. I also have a wet and dry which is pretty powerful but also made the mistake of taking advice of others saying it was fine to use without a bag, it soon blocked up in the hose and created an almighty mess inside the drum with dust. I promoted my Henry from household to diy use and have never looked back but like you say don’t overfill the bag.

thanks for doing this. it's a good idea to wear a respiratory when you're using the blower function esp indoors. I use this on the bandsaw after suction but it does kick up a lot of nasty microns into the air.

Your henry with the split in the bottom is made of polyethelene plastic. Same as buckets, washing up bowls etc. Splits and cracks can be repaired using an old soldering iron to reweld it back together. If you can get an old red washing up bowl you can cut it up and use it as 'solder' to repair it or even replace missing bits. Plastic kayaks can also be repaired in the same way.

Miss Take Not Yes I can definitely vouch for this, I have found that mine blocks when I tried to pick up to much at once, it doesn’t struggle so much with the size of what it’s picking up but pick up two or three of the same size bits at once and it blocks

lol. 1200 Watt just consumes more power… Suction power depends on many things, and Henry “Sucks” best! In a positive way… so those blockages are really because of bad suction power, despite the high Wattage…

Interesting review. Just a comment on using these machines with power tools. Be wary regarding how the cleaner motor is cooled. I finished of my machine when using a sander. The air flow into the cleaner is restricted by the tool and dust bag, and then gets further restricted as the bag gets filled/blocked. Portable power tool extractors are designed to have a bypass flow to cool the motor. Black smoke escaping from your vacuum is never a good sign and don't rely on the motor thermal cutout protection, it won't always work.

I just dismantled my Titan for some maintenance, and it looks as though the motor is sealed and kept separate from the flow of dust. So I don't think a bag is necessary to protect the motor. However a bag may be preferable to avoid creating dust clouds when emptying the bucket.

When my Henry’s motor died I brought a Nilfisk wet & dry as replacement. Even though the noise spec for the Nilfisk is lower, the pitch of it makes it horrible to use without ear defenders!. Ended up buying another Henry....

Great comparison video Charlie. I bet the Titan won't be going in another 19 years. I have a few Titan tools, and Ferm (older Screwfix brand) and they aren't too bad. I've been using a Karcher wet n dry vacuum WD3.500p for 5 years now. I paid under £50 for it from their repair outlet centre, but to all intents it seemed new, even in original packaging. It's been a good alternative to a budget machine. The hose does block easily with brick rubble but ok with most other things like wood shavings. It has the power take off which is handy. Power cord and vacuum pump hose it a bit short for hooking up to power tools. Vacuum pipes are decent tough plastic as are the accessories.

The other machine I use for my diy jobs, of course my 2008 1200w Henry does wonderful at all jobs. Sometimes I use a 1992 hoover aqua master which is quite good, occasionally it’s my Sebo x4 upright which I prefer to stick to general household, but I did use it to rescue after my Henry blocked.

I bought aftermarket bags for my Titan. They seem to seal OK but it's like they are made from tissue paper, they tear so easily. Will be trying different ones going forward. As for the Titan vacuum itself, it gets used in the garden workshop, for the car, and cleaning the house carpets when we want some proper suction. Apart from its bulk, I like it and think for the price it was a bargain

Wickes wet and dry vacuum has been in the garage for 25 years plus and still going strong. No bag and filter needs cleaning every so often to maintain suction but cannot recommend enough. Have a Henry (skip find with all accessories but needed a new £4.95 switch!) but still use the Wickes as my go to vacuum.

After watching this I avoided the Titan and went for the Hyundai HYVI3014 1400W 3 IN 1 Wet & Dry HEPA Filtration Electric Vacuum Cleaner with Powertool socket. Costs a fiver more than the TITAN but excellent build quality and works a treat. All the same features but none of the build quality issues.

Plus I've just invested another £20 on a HEPA filter for the Titan as too much dust was getting through the other one, so yours is better quality and cheaper!

Hi Charlie, First..you have got the same name as my twin brother😂. Well let's go to the test. This test was about two years ago and I see it for the first time. There are millions of video's on KZbin, But any how......The test. I was always a fan of Henry....A friend of mine had a Henry and he was very impressed by it's power. I was thinking ( I love DIY projects) If you glue a plastic ring around the nozzle in the compartment, with hot glue instead of taping it with black electric tape, perhaps then it will close the gaps. Yes the titan had more capacity and a bigger back, and switches on and of by using your powertools, that is brilliant. Well we are 2 years away, and I love to know what your best buy was. I love the way you make your content. refreshing and it was kind of a knowledgebase. I hope I use the right words, I am Dutch you know? Well at least it's a great way to get my English finetuned. I was in England for 2 weeks, and I must say...I loved every bit of it. I was in Lincolnshire and London. My sister in law is English. This comparison was actually a little unfair because the Titan was never designed to be a domestic vacuum and actually here kzbin.info/www/bejne/b4PJeaOjZ9uZapI as a static workshop vac attached to a cyclone (which removes the need for the dust bag) it was brilliant - and I used the pass through switch a lot as it triggers the vacuum when you turn on the power tool. So I would say you can't beat a Henry for all round use but if you're just after a vacuum for the work shop this is priced very well to do the job.
