Steve's playing had a big impact on the direction of what I wanted to learn to play. He had a VHS teaching tape out at that time that was very helpful and also showed his great sense of humor. Thanks for sharing. 🎸

Later on in your video you hit the key points. Learning by fret numbers is not adding value. Players should be able to know the note names instead of the fret numbers. That is how you properly learn note associations (triads). Otherwise it is just “numbers”. This is Luke’s (and also their great guitarists) real professionalism, having knowledge of theory that help expanding their playing and note choices. Even EvH had a classic background…I also think that is why the two of them were very good friends. Thanks.

@@iggie_za thanks for the comment!! I agree with you - but get the opposite comments if I speak in note names. Hard to win when you’re dealing with the public! 🎶🎸🔥🎸🎶

Outgoing solo in Roseanna played spontaneously by a 24 yr old Luke is legendary.

They way i think of the outro solo is playing a Bb major arpeggio over the G minor - thus you are effectively playing G Dorian
@alchemysticgoldmind4164Ай бұрын
This is a modification of Pat Martino's Minor Sub concept...Like Steve Vai once said everything ends up being Dorian...GREAT LESSON

Very impressive, Charlie, but it comes down to; appeal to the masses.

Steve was an ok player, but "Rosanna" was like a 10 foot cheesecake. A bit much. Dennis Coffey, a 60's and 70's session player rocked even harder, IMHO. Listen to him!
