She said, and this is a quote, “well there’s nothing forgetting a pill here and there can’t fix if you want to get your way, you know.” My response was that’s basically sexual abuse and she scoffed at me for saying it’s anything similar.” It’s not concrete, but after everything else they did to his siblings, I really wouldn’t put it past them. Now he’s trapped even though he’s starting to regret this. This could’ve been avoided if he and multiple other people weren’t so quick to dismiss the siblings. I’d say the siblings should’ve compiled all the evidence they had and shown him before it was too late, but I highly doubt anyone would even hear them out, both families behaviour has made it pretty clear they’re the black sheep. I just feel so bad for OP and her other brother cause everyone around them blamed them for problems they had no control over. The family consciously screwed them over, and then manipulated everyone else into isolating or berating them. I hope their close family either sincerely apologises for treating them like shit and makes it up to them, or get cut off entirely if they refuse to change. This story is full of horrendous behaviour for no good reason, they deserve to be with people who truly care for them and are willing to listen.

Every time I hear a story about a wedding like that, where the bride (and possibly groom as well) think they can dictate how others have to spend their own money on suits and dresses that they will most likely never wear again is just ridiculous. The sheer entitlement behind the idea that you can demand someone spend $$$ on a dress for just 1 day is insane. Same with expensive restaurants and the likes. Yes I get it's your wedding, your very special day. But it's still my money. I didn't go to my sister's wedding dinner, because I refuse to spend 250+ per person on a single dinner. Same with my brother's wedding at the church his wife attends. Super strict dress code, none of which was even remotely near my closet. They weren't willing to budge and the cheapest rental tux to even approach the dress code was over 100 euro for the 1 day. So hard noped out of that as well.

My SIL had me as a bridesmaid and also had to coordinate me and her MOH friend all being in different cities. This was early days of web, so nothing online. SIL found one dress she liked in a catalog so she had catalogs sent to me and MOH. My Mom happened to already have the same catalog. They were all talking about a lavender dress and I had the catalog # for it but I was confused when I received the catalog. I found it right away but all I saw was pink and blue. I even talked to my Mom because I knew she had already seen it. Aaaaand that's how I found out I'm color-blind. 😂 True story! SIL also picked some dresses at a dept store and MOH and I were able to go to stores near us to try them on. I somewhat agree with you about calling the bridal salon but like OP I'd be getting a little suspicious too why this basic info wasn't forthcoming! In our case, MOH and I both liked the same dress 1st choice and it was SILs fave too so that worked perfectly. Even tho I would have worn the blue-to-me dress, final pick was a sage green so it was kinda nice I could see that color. 😂😂😂😂

Yeah, that was mind blowing. Why would they want her to show up in the wrong dress color? I'm also confused about why the bridal shop they're purchasing dresses from isn't keeping track of this info. When I was most recently in a bridal party, the shop made an account for the bride and uploaded the styles and colors she liked the best from our appointment. Then the bride was asked to make a final decision, and the shop emailed all of us with links to purchase the dress/color the bride had picked. Our size recommendation was also listed based on the measurements they took, but we could have ordered any size at that point. Also isn't the OP's own sister in the bridal party? Even if the bride and bride's friends have decided to bully OP, you'd think the sister would give her the info she needed.

I was working as a beauty therapist. My husband's very good friend was getting married (to his mistress, after divorcing his wife of many years), and my husband was in the wedding party (I was not). I never really liked the bride (something didn't sit right with me about her. ever), but I offered to do tans, nails, hair, and makeup for the entire bridal party for cost of materials; the bride was ecstatic and invited me to "get ready with them in the bridal suite". The couple had also booked a separate "honeymoon suite" which the guys were getting ready in. On the day of the wedding, I'm single-handedly making the entire bridal party look incredible, then as I'm finishing the bride's makeup, she says she really needs to pee before she gets dressed. She goes off to pee . . . and the Maid of Honour comes to me and says that I can just go back to my own room and get ready if I want. But . . . I didn't have a room. And I had brought everything with me to get ready there with the bridal party. She then made it crystal clear that I was not welcome to stay. As drove home, I called my husband in tears and explained that I had to go home and get ready, but I'd be back before the ceremony started. After the ceremony, the MOH tells me how upset the bride was with her tan, nails, makeup etc and that she won't be paying me for that "rubbish"! Cue the reception, and I fight back angry tears while sitting alone, as my husband fulfils his duties in the wedding party. When the speeches were over and he could come sit with me, my husband told me how beautiful I looked, and that he loved me. We'd been married several years at this point. Then he held something out in his hand . . . The key to the honeymoon suite. We skipped the rest of the reception, "christened" their honeymoon suite, and reappeared grinning at the happy couple as they danced the night away. For a bride that seemed to enjoy other women's cast-offs, she certainly got her fill that night ;-) P.S. They since divorced. Shocker there! P.P.S. After commenting the above, I was recounting this story to my husband for laughs . . . turns out that the groom told all the groomsmen to wear suits on the day, and once they were all ready in the honeymoon suite, the groom nominated a "best man" . . . So my husband got booted from the bridal party DURING THE RECEPTION ! ! ! One of the other groomsmen (who had given my husband the honeymoon suite key) took a girl back to the bride and groom's HOUSE and "christened" their marital bed!!!

@@jarsofpaperstars no . . . At the bride's birthday party the following year, she had a stripper pole set up in her lounge room and was dancing for everyone (she was in her forties). There was hard liquor, and my husband and I ended up leaving early as things were quickly getting out of hand (we'd been to their parties before, so we knew where it was headed). About a week later, the bride told her husband that MY husband had groped her at the party . . . The party she was literally stripping at, doing shots, and grinding up on every guy there. I was by my husband's side the entire night. My belief is that she was annoyed at him telling her to cool her jets before something bad happened (which is why we left the party - it was getting out of hand), and she made the accusation in retaliation to his rejection. The allegation split the entire friends group; my husband would never do such a thing, but also #BelieveWomen. My husband was gutted by the whole thing; we've been nothing but loyal friends to them (we had been friends with the husband for about 10 years), but after her accusing my husband of groping her, we haven't spoken to them again. I did see her recently, working at a fitness wear store. She looks every part the middle-aged multi-divorced woman who thinks she's still 20 and a total catch. It's pretty sad, really.

Always got compliments from brides because both have ended up matching the theme and it looked as if I was supporting the marriage and as if I was a guest who had an "In with the couple" when all else fails, dark blue saves the day. Plus, hides the stains from wine, I repeat when all else fails. Go with Dark Blue.

I'm really sad to hear that the update to the last wedding story was that the nasty bride baby trapped OP's older brother. And from the look of things from other people who came across the update, pretty much most of OP's brother's family members (like OP's sister and mother on top of OP and younger brother) were pretty much left in the dark about details deliberately as to break the groom and his ow family up. The forced family isolation caused by your SO is already a red flag. Baby trapping is an awful thing to do, if not worse!
@isamaria6544 Жыл бұрын
It's so disgusting to baby trap and involve a kid. Especially if it's true he didn't want a kid because he himself had cancer as a kid. To be forced to coparent with such a manipulative monster is sad beyond words. From my experience courts fail kids in every way, even when physical or sexual abuse is done. Courts don't care about mental abuse at all. That will be an 18 year battle if he stays or separates from her. There really should be punishments in place for ppl that do this. The emotional tole this has on the victim and potentially the child can be so consuming...
@preciousmcfadden4291 Жыл бұрын
I'm sorry but I've seen the update and there was no indication that the bride actually baby trapped him. Also, the bride is pregnant despite the groom's wishes to either adopt or not have any children at all (due to his bout with cancer as a child). OP mentioned this change in groom's stance to her sister who said "well there’s nothing forgetting a pill here and there can’t fix if you want to get your way, you know.” Vile people all the way around.

There's an old poem on the topic of dress colors for the bride: "Married in white, you will have chosen all right. Married in grey, you will go far away. Married in black, you will wish yourself back. Married in red, you’ll wish yourself dead. Married in blue, you will always be true. Married in pearl, you’ll live in a whirl. Married in green, ashamed to be seen. Married in yellow, ashamed of the fellow. Married in brown, you’ll live out of town. Married in pink, your spirits will sink." I wore a gold dress for my 1st wedding, so something between yellow and brown? I should have seen this poem first! I'm certainly ashamed of the fellow, and because of him I "live out of town". I moved 1500 miles and changed my name to escape him.

The blue petal revenge story reminded me of this. Last year I got a little revenge on a toxic friend. I stayed her friend out of guilt, we reconnected a bit but then the camel’s back broke over something I couldn’t forgive her for. For context, She would tell my parents and brother things that weren’t their business. Things they didn’t need to know about or things I wasn’t ready to tell them. It caused me emotional distress and I have anxiety due to all the passive aggression and name calling from my family. She had every opportunity to remove herself but never took it. One time she told my brother a big secret. I quit my job at McDonald’s and I wasn’t ready to tell them. She claimed she snitched because she was worried about me but she acted oblivious about it when I first asked her if she told. At the time we were at this festival and She was mad at me because I left for what I thought would be only a few minutes but lost track of time. I’ve owned up to this and since apologized. Anyway, last year I had a s***ty Halloween because of her. I went to hang out with her for the weekend and her new boyfriend scared me because he thought it would be fun to fish tail his truck while it was raining and when we were entering traffic. He also said that his tires were a bit worn prior to all this. He could’ve easily lost control or caused an accident to someone else. My knees were shaking and she wanted me to forget about it and just have a drink. She didn’t care that I was upset. Two days later she messaged me that she was bummed that her and her boyfriend couldn’t go back roading that night because I was scared. I’m sorry for having emotions I guess. I was p*ssed and let her have it. Then I told my brother what she and her new boyfriend did. She messaged me because she was upset about getting so many messages from my brother. It felt like a taste of her own medicine from over the years. On top of that I thought my family should know what happened because I planned to stop being her friend and didn’t want her to spin it in a way that made me look like I was in the wrong. It’s been nearly a year since I’ve spoken to her and I feel so happy about it.

I actually looked it up to see what was wrong with wearing a red dress to a wedding and it says nothing is wrong with wearing red as long as the colour does not out stage the bride with the brightness so dark reds are fine it doesn't mean anything so it's just her adding meaning to why she's wearing that particular colour that day

nah, it is a thing and not just her, it just is not that commenly known. like victorian flower language and why you should not give your partner yellow flowers and such

I wore red to a wedding once too but I asked my friend beforehand because I wasn't sure if that was maybe a faux pas or something. I don't know wedding rules, apart from the obvious "don't wear white". She was completely fine with the red :)
@jenniferpanther29792 жыл бұрын
In the American South you're taught to not wear white, red, or black to a wedding. White upstages the bride, harlots (🙄 I don't think like this, but seriously this is what I was told growing up) wear red, and black is for funerals.
@ritaantosik6659 Жыл бұрын
Same! I asked in advance like “Hey, obviously not white, but are there any other colors that guests shouldn’t wear to y’all’s wedding?” and her response was “Anything else is completely fine :)” - and like, that’s not a cultural norm everywhere so I’d hope not that many people see someone wearing red or black and immediately assume those implications. Some of us straight up didn’t know that it meant anything and just had a nice red or black dress that was dressy enough for the occasion

Wow, that last story was crazy! I am so glad that the groom was able to see this bridezilla’s true colors and came back from the honeymoon alone! 💗 It is just a shame that his sister and little brother had to be ostracized and treated so abhorrently by the rest of the bridal party. 💔

I have two stories: Story 1: At a friend’s wedding reception, the mother of a mutual friend screamed really loud and announced that her son had just gotten engaged (he was going to school in another state). She (the mom) was known as a drama queen, so most of the people there ignored her, but I could tell that the bride (a good friend of mine) was a little upset. Her ceremony had been really emotional as her mother had died when she was younger, and the officiator spoke about it, saying that he knew her mother was proud of her and that she was there in spirit. I remember thinking the other friend’s mom was being really rude and just wanted attention for herself, because she ended up going around and showing anybody that would look the text from her son on her phone 🙄 Story 2: I was the MoH at my bff’s wedding (her sister dropped out last minute; that’s a whole other long story), and she asked me to help with planning since she couldn’t afford a wedding planner and was on a tight budget since her family wasn’t going to help out at all. Her colors were red, green and brown, and she asked me to be in charge of the bridesmaid’s dresses. I made sure to run everything by her first, from colors to style, and she ended up picking the red option for all of us 😂 I was today years old when I heard about this “red dress” rule😅. I guarantee none of us had slept with the groom, as both he and the bride were both virgins and one of the bridesmaids had been happily married for several years and was 8 months pregnant 🤣

I remained friends with this girl from high school who was a bully to me but she was my best friend's wife. I caused their divorce. Not by an affair, by her own lies. The son they have isn't his, the real father drunkenly confessed to me, told my best friend, and shit hit the fan a year after. The real kicker is that my best friend made me his "son's" godmother and when they got divorced she wanted to remove me as her son's godmother and she found out she couldn't. I try to stay in her son's life as much as I can just to annoy her. Don't get me wrong, I adore my godson. His mother just so happens to be crazy.
@sakumiraagashi Жыл бұрын
In my opinion, you didn't cause their divorce. SHE caused it. When you have an affair, it's not anyone's responsibility for "keeping the marriage", aka hiding the affair. If you have an affair, you already ruined your relationship. So glad your best friend dodged a bullet and you still get to be in the child's life!

I got petty revenge at my own wedding. Golden child sibling demanded she be allowed a plus one. (I had 4 guests; he had 3. All were family, i.e., nobody else was a stranger.) She tried to sneak him into the ceremony, and I kicked him out. He had to sit in a freezing cold car in the winter. He also had to pay for his own dinner at our informal reception. We covered the tab for everyone else. Don't bring a date when you're told not to bring a date. 🤷

I have mentioned it here before because my MIL wore red to my wedding not because she slept with her son but just because she hated me and didn't want me to marry her son. She's one of those crazy "she's taking my baby boy away" mothers, I don't talk to her at all and he's very low contact. Also my grandfather thought she was a guests date (a lady of the night his exact words lol) because she never met my family
