Well the thing that got me is that she was entitled enough to demand people adjust their medication, as if she has any medical knowledge. For all she knows they might go into withdrawal or space out to a degree that puts them in a dangerous situation. Especially considering they were in Vegas and there are so many criminals around wanting to take advantage of tourists who have their guard down... I don't know much about ADHD or its medications but I face chronic pain and disability and just abruptly stopping a medication without dr oversight can become dangerous very fast. That and your state of mind and awareness can change. And for an entire WEEK of being off of it? Reckless.

I was a 13 year old bridesmaid for my cousin (groom) at his wedding in Scotland. The bride's 95 year old great aunt was an honoured guest. She was a redoubtable woman; a nurse during WWI (this was late '70s) she was the Matron of a large hospital for many years. Now in contended retirement, she was still fiercely independent and lived happily alone with her cat, Socks. [Hands up if you know where this is going.....] After the formal part of the reception, tables at the front were cleared so the 'young people' could dance and the band set up. Great aunt Betty was made comfortable in a comfy chair at a table in a back corner so she could watch without being too bothered by the noise. A piece of cake and a 'wee dram' and she was happy. Several hours later someone thought to go and check on Great aunt Betty. Yes, you're right. She had slipped across the unknowing veil, shuffled off the mortal coil and gone to join the choir invisible.The bride's father slipped out quietly to inform the hotel manager. "Oh, nae bother", said the manager, "it happens more often than you'd ken (think)." To this day, 40 years plus on, my cousin's wife is known as "the wifey who bawed auld Betty deids." The woman who lulled old Betty to death!

Thanks for sharing your story. :) One question: What does the sentence "She had slipped across the unknowing veil, shuffled off the mortal coil and gone to join the choir invisible." mean? English is not my first language and the direct translation doesn't make sense. 😅 Is it some kind of idiom?

@jayeclements6452
@jayeclements6452 3 жыл бұрын
@@caro0605 Hi Caro. Yes, they're all metaphors for dying. "the veil" is a term used several times in the Bible for the division between people and God. It's 'unknowing' because no-one actually knows what is beyond/behind the veil. In the Old Testament (Exodus 26:31-35 and Hebrews 10:19-22 amongst others) the 'veil' was the embroidered curtain behind which the scrolls of the Tanukh (Hebrew bible) are stored. Thus to go across the veil was to commune with God. "shuffled off this mortal coil" is from Shakespeare's 'Hamlet'. The 'coil' is the spirals of the trials and tribulations of life. Some scholars have suggested it means the hangman's rope but but most agree that it's used in its archaic meaning of turmoil. So to shuffle off the mortal coil is to leave the spiral of life. "joined the choir invisible" comes from a poem by the 18th/19th century English poet George Eliot. It's fairly literal as she (George Eliot was the pen name for a female writer in an age when women writers couldn't get published) is simply asking to join the choir in heaven singing God's praises when she dies. The most famous use of the expression is in Monty Python's 'Dead Parrot' sketch. I hope this helps! English is a language rich with idiom and metaphor and the origins of some of them can be fascinating. If you're interested to explore further, I recommend Andrew Thompson's book 'Hair of the dog to paint the town red'. A witty and well researched book.

I was on a bachelorette weekend a few years ago that was pretty tame. But one girl decided that we drank too much and that it was her duty to report it to our parents (keep in mind we were all adults). She called up so many people to let them know that we were drunks and that we needed encouragement to get over our addictions. We literally had some champagne in the afternoon, had a drink with a fancy dinner and then had a couple drinks later on in the evening. To this day she refuses to speak to me because of my “drinking issues” that I haven’t fixed. I literally drink 1-2 drinks per week with dinner 🤣 She never drank anything the whole day and none of us pushed her to drink anything so I don’t know what her issue was

She said her job was done. Somebody came up, hurriedly put my bouquet back together, and the procession commences. Both my BM & MoH were saying, “Don’t cry, don’t cry. When my brother got married a few months later, his wife copied EVERYTHING from my wedding, and even asked if she could have the part of my cake that was made of styrofoam (as a keepsake). I said no. There were a few differences though. My wedding was a small event held in my sister's backyard with the reception in our backyard. They got married in a church. I wanted to have my favorite meal, which was a turkey dinner. My mom said she'd take care of it but instead she told the guests it was a potluck sort of thing that was picnic style. We had cold cuts and salads. My mom adored my brother's wife so of course she made an entire turkey dinner for them though. Mine turned out to be a Murphy's law sort of thing and almost everything went wrong, we didn't even have music and decorations, so we didn't get to play our wedding song. That was fine with me though, I have a great sense of humor and thought every mishap was hilarious. Our wedding reception was such a hit, we were still kicking people out at 8am the next morning. Mind you it was my brother in law who was stranded at our house because my sister caused a scene, screaming that she just caught me having s*x with her husband, even though both of us were in full view of my guests as he was congratulating me on my wedding. How that equated to s*x, I don't know but my sister flew into a rage, made a complete dumbass of herself and sped off in her car, but we did still have other guests there until 6-7am. At my brother's wedding, they had all their music and decorations going but by 8pm, my husband was driving the last of their guests home because it was so boring no one wanted to stay. The only entertainment that whole 2 hours of their reception was when I looked at the take home treats and knowing my brother and his wife were standing behind me, I picked one up and said to my husband "Oh look honey, they forgot the flowers in the center." My brother's wife slapped my brother in the chest and angrily said "I KNEW there was something else!" Way to hide the fact that you copied me lol. Oh! They had to come up with a wedding song last second because she didn't hear mine at my wedding and I refused to tell her what it was. They've been divorced for many years now, both are remarried, and I ran into her about 3 months ago, so I thought I'd tell her finally what my wedding song is. As for my husband and I, we celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary in August.

Absolutely love the last story, I saw a documentary about how with the decrease in eligible women, most women have looked to expect far more from a husband in China. On the flip side, it was heartbreaking as one man mentioned he couldn’t bring himself to ask the one he loved out because he didn’t feel worth her and thought he’d drag her down (note, on the flip side of that, there were a stupid bunch of men just sitting around, pining and whining “WhErE’s MuH wIfE?? i WaS pRoMiSeD a WiFe… i MaN i dEsErVe A wIfE!” While they sat around all day doing nothing.) The shart story gives me full body shudders. Why oh why didn’t she take the 15 minutes to clean herself up, idk. I swear, weddings can bring out the worst in people! Too bad the partner doesn’t recognize the behavior is underlying and systemic. The one bridezilla story I heard from my sister ended up in divorce in less than a year; AFTER my sister paid for a bachelorette party when she was roped into being a part of the bridal party; AFTER the other bridesmaids couldn’t afford the bachelorette party but the bride *just had to have them at the party*. Oh, and this same bridezilla literally poisoned my sister’s cat, who almost died.

For those that aren’t aware, that’s what so many of these “diet” or “detox” drinks do. Some of the “diet” or “weight loss” drinks just make you poop a lot & give you lots of diarrhea, which in turn makes you lose a bit of weight (also can make you really sick). And some of the “detox” type drinks will make your poop exactly like the description in the first story (slimey, gel-like, tar-looking, basically a super weird consistency) which makes people think that they’re expelling stuff toxins or stuff that was stuck on the walls of their intestines. I specifically remember many many years ago (early 2000’s) there was a detox type drink going around (I completely forget what it was now) but it was something that they said would clean you out and would remove years of “build-up” in the walls of your intestines. People would drink it, and this weird textured crap would come out of them and they would think it was working. I remember trying to explain to people that there’s no “build-up” of crap on the walls of our intestines and that proof of this is easily seen by anyone who has ever had an endoscopy or colonoscopy. Doctors were trying to tell people that the drink had stuff in it that made your crap that texture, it wasn’t stuff that was already in you. You could find pictures online of people taking pictures of their 💩 and claiming the drink works. 🤦🏻‍♀️ It sounds like the bride in the first story had a drink like this. People….remember these 2 things. 1) You don’t need to detox anything, you have organs that are specifically made to do this job and they work 2) No drink or shake or anything you ingest will make you instantly lose weight, despite what the social media ads and pictures tell you. Eating healthier & working out are the only things that do that, and even that takes a lot of time & patience. Please don’t put random crap in your bodies without talking to your doctor.

I think her reasoning was more so the problem. She said she didn't want it because it would be "premarital sex". I agree that people shouldn't be bringing strangers back to the hotel for safety reasons, and because it is disrespectful if they are sharing the room with other girls. But at the same time, that bridesmaid can't forbid them from having premarital sex just because she doesn't want to. If they don't believe in that, her saying it was really out of line.

The Vegas Bachelorette Party- first to demand to be invited to the wedding is bad enough, but to insist on being included on the Bachelorette Party is even worse. Then she proceeds to take over the trip, not only making a ridiculous list of rules, but to also demand money from them? Not just no, but hell no. The only part I agree with even partially is about strange men in the suite. No one wants to come back to your hotel room tired/drunk after a long night out to find one of your friends getting busy with some random guy in the bed you’re supposed to be sleeping in, especially without any discussion beforehand. The only thing that makes it worse is if the random guy has brought his friend or friends along to “hang out” in the suite while he’s hooking up with your friend. It’s not only inconsiderate and awkward, it could also be dangerous.

I definitely hope one of the bridesmaids took control of that situation and stood up to her and told her she could no longer come. If I was a bridesmaid I would’ve talked to the bride and asked her if she wanted me to take care of it, and as soon as I had that permission I would’ve been all over it. 1st she bullies her way into getting a wedding invitation, then she bullies her way into getting invited to the bachelorette party, and then she has the nerve to write out a list of rules for everyone and decides she needs money because she designated herself as the food shopper?? I think not. Like how entitled are you and who do you think you are??

You weren’t wanted there to begin with and after pushing yourself into a party that was already planned before your involvement, you decide to make rules based on your religion for a place that is very much not a religious place. She never should have been invited in the first place, throwing a hissy fit to get your way has obviously just worked for her since she was three years old. As someone with ADHD, asking someone to forego their prescription medication is just blatantly out of line. I take a different drug to Adderall, but it lets me actually live my life and is in no way just a 'study drug'. That sort of request would make me invest in a portable safe because anyone that says not to bring your prescription amphetamines is actually saying 'bring them and expect to share or have them stolen because I cannot control myself.'

The oddest wedding I went to was one of my older cousin's, a decade or so ago.They didn't have a wedding planner the bride's younger sister was the "planner" (no experience whatsoever). She created some "games" but I only remembered one. She grabbed a few ladies and got them on stage with the bride. The groom was blindfolded and he had to touch all the women's hands to find his bride's. The "planner" planted herself right next to her sister, the bride. The groom kept going back and forth to try and find his wife's hands. As expected, he guessed wrong and ended up choosing the "planner". The "planner" was strangely excited about the whole thing and "jokingly" said that the groom would be in serious trouble with the bride that night. The bride was a good sport and laughed it off. After that incident, I paid a little more attention to watching the "planner" during any gatherings, and noticed that she flirted with her own cousins' husbands.

It's not even that weddings are so much different now, i think it really just depends on your relationship with the person you may share a dress with, and a lot of chicks are stuck up AF, or potentially have their own POV about whether or not the couple should be getting married. (Nobody else's business, but, y'know?) Also, the wedding industry has become a soul sucking cash cow for vendors, so OF COURSE they don't want these brides out here, SHARING a 15,000 + dollar item... if everyone cares about each other, and the happiness of the couple, and there are no lingering or repressed feelings to or from the lender, lendee, and groom, then who's effing business is it if you wear a borrowed dress? Mothers and grandmothers, aunts, friends, are all allowed to share or not, depending on their personal feelings and interconnected relationships. If I can get out of paying those ever heftier price tags on gowns, you bet your biscuits I'll borrow a dress, especially if it fits right and looks nice. I think so many people, especially on this channel, are just so ME ME ME, I'M THE BEST MOST IMPORTANT PERSON EVER, EVERYBODY LOOK AT ME, AND F*CK YOU, I GOT MINE. It's a truly disturbing piece of "culture."

My dad did the photography, mum made the cake and did the flowers. Anywho I was a kid helping where I could, they brought the cake into this hall, one box at a time. It was literally a gym hall, nothing special, we placed the boxes down ready to set up said cake. Opened the boxes to find they had placed a whole cooked fish, on top of the cake. It had seeped through the boxes, onto the icing of two of the layers of cake. Two individual cake tiers covered in fish oil. They made my dad go and buy cornflour, and make us cover the cake with cornflour to get rid of the shine. It absolutely stunk. Whilst I was trying desperately to please said cousin by degreasing and de-shining the icing on the cake she walked up to me, patted me on the head and said “what a good slave girl”, being 12 I wanted to punch her so I left the back of the cake all oily and fishy like. Didn’t tell anyone what had happened, and watched them serve fish cake to people. My dad didn’t even give them their wedding album he just shoved the photos through the door and told them where to shove it. We left just after watching people grimace from eating the cake. Salmon wedding cake anyone? It was the worst, over inflated, piece of 💩 wedding I’ve ever been too. I watch these because it reminds me there is worse lol.

The girl who had a list of rules for the bachelorette party reminded me of a roommate I used to have. She was of the LDS faith which means she doesn't drink. One of my other roommates invited her friends over for a BBQ; some of whom bought drinks. Basically, the LDS woman was cold towards that roommate who had friends being in alcohol. The roommate who had the party basically said, "I'm sorry, but when I moved in here, I didn't sign up to live by LDS standards." The other roommate isn't LDS, herself. Note: it's not like the Karen who complained even owned the house we lived in; she was a regular tenant just like us. Nowhere in our contracts did it say we couldn't have alcoholic beverages on the premises.

I’ve been married twice and I think I would have walked out if my present wife wore my first wife's dress. I get on really well with my first wife, we have co-parented two daughters for 35 years but it would be just too weird. I liked that last clip, I’ve seen them go wrong, like the woman in the store, but that was beautiful. I wept a little when I married my wife, which started her off which nearly started the registrar off. If they’d had a GoFundMe I would have thrown a few Bob in.

I mean... most women don't want to have or own items of the first wife like engagement ring, wedding ring, dress etc because it's not only weird, but they already have sentimental value attatched to them. In most countries even, having another woman's wedding items after she got divorced is considered bad juju 😂 The only thing i can think of is that the new wife was thinking that she could wear it better and outshine the first wife in the dress and kind of "replace" her in the husbands heart, which is just so wrong on so many levels.

There's a difference between looking nice for a wedding, and wearing something so obvioulsy designed to steal the show. Did she look amazing? Yes. Was it appropriate? Imo, no. One of the things said after party (instead of reception), which is a pretty big difference. If that was the case, then go her. I'd have told Taylor to get her own damn room if she wanted rules followed. Also, love ending the video on a positive note! 💜

this. both the wedding AND the reception are meant as celebrations for the married couple. looking great is one thing, even picking up people at the reception, sure. But wearing something like that (when we already KNOW she likes stealing the spotlight and upstaging!) is passive aggressive as hell. if your focus isnt at least PARTIALLY on celebrating the marriage and making the day great for the couple, you shouldnt be there tbh. Same goes for Taylor honestly. if it was gonna cause so much trouble, just dont go

I'm never, ever going to forget this description of "the water balloon of horror"! That poor bride! This was one reason I got married by a JP, without an audience. I'm an introvert, who never wants to be center of attention. I fainted in class just before I was to stand up and give a presentation. When I came to, I sat up and immediately barfed. I was a sophomore in college. The prof allowed me to show her privately that I really had done the work and would have done a decent presentation had I not been so terrified. I think I got a "B" grade, for which I was grateful.

@@DrawciaGleam02 I got married by Justice of the Peace, with only my brother and SIL as witness. I wore the dress my mom wore in 1956 when she married my dad (second wedding). It was gold silk brocade, off-the shoulder with a beaded bodice and knee-length bell-shape skirt that looked like something Lucy Ricardo would have worn. I love that dress, and still have it. I wish I had occasion to wear it to a party because it still fits! I hoped to wear it as a mother-of-the-groom dress one day, but it's unlikely my son will ever marry as he has severe schizophrenia and only had one girlfriend, ever. That was just before his brain played a cruel trick and changed his perception of the world. ☹

I'm sorry you gained such an unfortunate nickname but it's hella hilarious 🤣 your disaster videos got us through planning our wedding this year. Not only was the country shut down 1 week before our big day was planned but when we actually got married this year, the day before the wedding, the photographer texted my sister and told her to tell me her jaw was wired shut and she couldn't come, my car drove to the venue versus to my house to get me and I had to drive myself in my wedding dress in my tiny chevy spark, my entire family except my mom n dad missed the ceremony due to a bridge shut down and my mom showed up and walked me down the aisle with a sparkly white dress (and same shoes)....yeah my dad walked me down too but it was "her" moment ya know? Took the craziest quirkiest wedding images ourselves with a tripod and covid wedding disaster is now a total success in our book! Wouldn't change a thing! I can't wait to tell my grandkids this story someday. That poo-filled bridal gown story made me think of our son'd baby dedication ceremony at church. He was just an infant at the time no more than three months old and his God-mother had given him a satin baby tuxedo to wear for the occasion. Welp, he had been sleeping while we were waiting for the pastor to finish speaking. He takes our son so we could all pray. my husband and I had our heads down as they started but we heard the unmistakable sound of our son pooping. OUr head of course pop up and too our horror his little bottom was turning yellow. They lifted him up after the prayer to show the entire congregation and introduce him to all several hundred of them and announce his name. We quickly gathered him up a few minutes later and run to the restroom for a quick change, diaper and as well as the entire outfit. We had to attend the breakfast with him in an entirely different outfit. I didn't want to disappoint my friend but had to tell her that her God-son had pooped right through the outfit. Thankfully it came clean in the wash later but man was that embarrassing. My little poop monster. We like telling our now 25yr old son about that every once in a while. 😊😊😊

RE: Kendall Jenner: I personally would not wear that dress anywhere (not built for it anymore) but as to wearing it to a wedding, I think that largely depends on whose wedding it was and what the atmosphere was like. If it's one of her sisters and the mood is "casual but like, rich person casual," that dress is appropriate. If it's someone she's not close to and it's a formal affair, it is not. RE: Taylor the Nightmare: The only rules at a bachelorette party come from the bride, no exceptions. That said, the rule about not bringing strange men back to the hotel is kind of understandable, but also like...get your own room then? RE: New GF wanting the dress: The only girl who should ever wear someone else's old dress is a relative, and only when offered by the original bride.
