At a job I had there was a man who always seemed strapped for money. He and his wife had 5 kids and never seemed to have enough food, or appropriate clothing for the cold months and only allowed so much time to use electricity, heat, water and food. So we had a fund raiser to help with the cost of the winter months ahead for coats, boots and other items for the kids. We raised more then anyone had anticipated so there was plenty for food and other necessities also. Needless to say he showed up the next week in a new pickup truck. He had been saving money (at the expense of his wife kids basic needs) to put a down payment on a new truck and the money we raised was finally enough to put the down payment on said truck. His kids still did not have the basic needs for the months a head. After a few months he put his 2 weeks in due to a hostile work environment. We raised enough money again so WE took the kids to the store and purchased the winter items they needed before he left.

She then asked could I use my lunch break to bring it to her. I was a little hesitant at first because, "HELLO....IT'S MY BIRTHDAY!" But I had to go to the grocery store to pick up a few things for the party I was throwing that night & the store was next to her house, plus my boss let me leave early since it was my birthday. I took her the money & reminded her what time my party was starting! Note that I wasn't expecting any gifts or anything to come to my party. Just the presence of those I had invited. Food & drinks (alcoholic & nonalcoholic) would be provided. Anyway, as she's putting the money I just gave her in her purse, she says, "Well I kinda have plan with _____(insert her new boyfriend's name) tonight. That's why I needed the money. I'm treating him to dinner & a movie!" Uuummm....excuse me!? Looks like I'M treating y'all to dinner & a movie....on MY BIRTHDAY!!! I didn't know what to feel....hurt, anger or disappointment! I once had a roommate that rented out the other 2 rooms in her 3 bedroom apartment. Turns out she hadn't paid rent or utilities in over 2 years. She had a small parttime job and worked like 15 hours a week. Her 2 previous roommates had been paying for everything and weren't even living there anymore. She really thought that the 2 of us newbies would just continue with the same arrangement all while she contributed nothing financially to the house and had the biggest bedroom which of course she wasn't paying for. I didn't realize she wasn't paying her share for at least 2 months. It was a busy time, but I still moved out by the next month. Because I had the water bill in my name I had it shut off when I left. She tried to confront me about it all at my work saying she needed my "portion of the rent" which was half and for me to turn the water back on, but I just said sorry while she cried and whimpered in front of me. I was working 3 jobs while going to school full time. Such an entitled brat. She needed to grow up. I was 20 at the time and she was 25. Pathetic way to conduct oneself. I know I was petty moving out (in like 1 day) and turning off the water, but I'll be damned if I have someone basically steal from me by being super lazy.

The mom wanted to move her drug addict son in and run her daycare in the place. We told her the son was not allowed in the condo and she decided to tell me to find another babysitter. We were clearing out an old relative's house and had really great stuff for free. (Couldn't be bothered to sell it). First turn off "I'm a single mother struggling". You don't HAVE to be a single mother to be struggling. There are students, immigrants, people just out of incarceration, people fleeing abusive homes or, for the past 2 years, people who lost jobs. Just tell me you want it and come get it. I'm neither saving it for you longer than the time it takes you to get here or bringing it to you. The best though was a brand new bed (my aunt bought it but couldn't get into it, slept in her recliner). Some guys were out of town but basically on their way to pick it up. Then a lady texted "we're in your neighbhourhood, is it still available?" I said that some guys were coming from out of town to get it. She said "We could come and have it off your hands in a minute." No, it's been promised to someone who is coming to get it. The lady acted like she was doing us a favour. I told my cousin (who was at the house) about it. The guys were just finished loading it and were getting in the truck, so my cousin told them to wave as they were driving away and took a video and we sent it to the lady.

Today on a facebook group I'm in, I saw a post that made me laught so hard ! The person asked for someone (strangers) to please drive her to every clients she has to go for her new job. She found a job in housekeeping, and has to go to a lot of people's houses in one day roughtly 4 a day, maybe more. And the houses to take care of can be 20km away from each others. She offers to pay 100 euros to the person for gas money. And that's it ! I was so chocked first that she got a job which needs a car and drivers license, without one. But even more that she has the nerve to ask a stranger to drive her to all those houses, and only pay 25 euros a week. It's not even enought lately with the price of gas, but it's worst if you take into consideration the time lost for the person who drives and everything else. Just by itself it's an entitled post in my opinion ! But everything around it makes it so much worst... XD

That one with the not wanting soup only pizza reminded me of this time my grandpa was coming back from his senior's club and waiting for the bus when this woman approached him saying she was hungry and asking if he had any money. My grandpa gave her his pączek (donut) that he was taking home to eat for dessert after his dinner since he didn't have any cash on him and when he got on the bus, he saw her throw it in the garbage. She didn't even take a bite. Like seriously, all she had to do was say "no thanks", but she took it from him, only to throw it in the garbage. Clearly she wasn't starving since I have literally seen people pull banana peels out of the garbage and try to eat that just so they have something in their stomach. It made me so mad when he told me the story. I don't think he ever did give anyone anything ever again. Man I miss my Dziadzia.

A lot of ppl are like that 🤷🏼♀️ There are quite a few “homeless” ppl who pretend to be homeless bc panhandling can bring a lot more money than a regular job... and they don’t report it as income for taxes.... there was an investigative piece where a reporter followed a “homeless”man for a week and when he got done panhandling, he walked several blocks to a jaguar parked in a neighborhood near where he was pretending to be homeless and drove it to a nice house in the burbs 😂😂😂 we have a family friend that owns a business and one day he gave a panhandler his business card and told him he could set him up with a job as well as some resources for free clothes and a haircut... the “bum” threw his card back at him and said he didn’t want a job 🤦♀️ I never give panhandlers money... one of my friends is so naive we were in South America on a bus to go to another city (and in order to reach the buses you had to pay a fee to enter the bus area plus the ticket price, so anyone in that area paid to be there).. the bus ticket taker is supposed to wait at the bus entrance when they open the bus door until it leaves (to check tickets before the ride for city to city buses), but ours went missing... man comes on speaking very quickly in Spanish (I know Spanish but he was speaking too quickly so I only got bits and pieces)- other American on the bus who was living there said the guy was saying someone stole his wallet on the last bus he was on and he wanted some money to get home - I thought it was quite strange and didn’t believe him... I think he heard us speaking in English and though he could bamboozle some Americans .... my naive friend gave him $20 (me and my other friend gave him squat, other guy in the bus gave him a couple of bucks- which if u really needed just a bus ticket was more than enough)!! He left the bus and went “woo hoo!” As he left... I burst out laughing and was right- he was just thinking he could get some free money from some “dumb Americans”... I pointed out that he had a brand new smart phone in his back pocket and a thief would’ve been more likely to steal that than a wallet 🤷🏼♀️ You never put anything of value in your back pockets while in big cities unless you’re a criminal... otherwise a criminal will probably steal it from you

I went on a blind date once. I was only 19, so didn’t have much money but made sure I had enough to pay for the date for both of us. She didn’t like the restaurant I’d chose n wanted to go to a very swanky one in central London. Again, fine. I just chose somewhere a little less formal as it was a first date n we’d never met n didn’t want it too intimate. Anyway after ordering the priciest items on the menu n knocking back multiple £15 cocktails, when the cheque came she got up n said she’d wait for me outside. Literally ran away from the cheque. At least pretend to offer something towards the bill 😂. As I said, I was going to pay anyway but the entitlement meant there was not a 2nd date when she asked about it. She also spent half the meal on her phone. It was great not getting to know her 😂

Still buy every day things at the store, but the food boxes really help! In one of the more recent boxes we got three packs of chicken legs. Mom hates dark meat, but don't worry about them going to waste we plan to give them to my brothers family who all like chicken legs! Here's the story, mom was out by the car when a man on a bicycle comes by, he remarked on the weather and mom replied back politely. The Mon then pulled his bike up into the car park and asked about odd jobs. He said he was trying to get food for his young son. Mom told him she didn't have any jobs for him, but told him about the chicken legs and offered to give him one of the packages. Suddenly, the man's story changed and he claimed to not be able to pay his water bill, could she give him $20 dollars? He left sans money and chicken!!!

10:39 It's a manipulation tactic. To waste money on luxuries, because people would never have considered them in need if their essentials were covered, and it's harder to throw a pity part over the "needed" luxuries than essentials. This is what my friend's son did; spend his money on luxuries and then have my friend cover his essentials, since he knew she would never leave him hungry or without electricity, but she certainly wouldn't give him money for a venue for a party or a trip out of the country.

I understand one roommate paying more than the other, but not because of a difference in income. Years ago I shared a place with someone who did a roughly 55/45 split. But he was already there, just wanted some help with the rent, and had the master bedroom. It did get more than a little annoying when his girlfriend moved in and decided it was her home and that I'd follow her rules. Of course, she didn't pay rent or a single bill.

I've been in similar roommate situations, it's not weird to pay different amounts if you agree on it beforehand (unequal rooms is one very good reason, or idk, if you arrange that one roommate pays less but then does all the cleaning or whatever). But the key point is agree on! Too bad about the girlfriend. I've also had a roommate relationship worsen because of a boyfriend who'd hang around. He's now an ex and I'm an ex-roommate 😅
