You know what sucks? This game COULD have been good. But aside from being a glitchy mess, it has uninteresting level design, forgettable characters, boring story elements that could've been interesting if there had been more information given to us or if it had gone in a different direction. Of all the redesigns, I actually really like Tails'. The goggles are cute and so are his other little gadgets, yet it isn't too much either. Unlike the other redesigns, Tails' actually compliments him. So... Yeah, while the game itself makes me cringe as well as the rest of the redesigns, I will give credit where credit is due.

Wow, not even a single sin in and I already see a huge problem with the opening cutscene:How the hell does Sonic, the fastest thing alive who rolls around at the speed of sound, the one who can hydroplane across water...not do anything but stand still as the robots spend like 10 seconds charging up their lasers and then firing at him? What should have happened was "Read-ghk! as Sonic ran through and destroyed all of them in half a second", OR why didn't he simply jump over the damn lasers? The creators just placed him in as a boss fight with no reason to go against Sonic and the others *at all* other than to introduce him into the Sonic Boom franchise. All they did here was make him completely OOC from the silent, 'I only waste my time if it's beneficial to me' Shadow the Hedgehog into an egotistical jackass. It's sad that he served more of a purpose in the DS version of the game and that's only because he was captured by Lyric and used as an experiment for that mind control device.

Knuckles was never particularly intelligent at all, and was in fact portayed as an utter dumbass as soon as the series got actual proper story(Adventure). It's not just gullibility, Knux was always dumb as a board(even prior to Adventure, he was a moron, it's just that gullability was the only thing that played into the miniscule story of the genesis games.). Boom is just way more on the nose about it.

Fun fact: during the scene where lyric gets unleashed, in the Japanese version, sonic doesn’t actually say “nobody has dodged my spin attack..” Instead, he says “he can predict my moves? How?” So either they did that on accident or the person who did the dubbing was an asshole.

In fairness, Sonic Boom Rise of Lyric did have a very troubled production and the team was scrapped for time when it came to making it actually work. At least based on what I remember hearing in a video I watched quite a while ago. That doesn't excuse all of the bugs in the game, but I do have a lot of sympathy for the team that worked on it since they got jerked around quite a bit.

When I was a kid, I learned a pretty easy way to remember left from right. Make an L with your hand. If the L is backwards, that's your right hand. If it makes a proper L then it's your left hand. It's surprisingly helpful. I learned this from Blues Clues. Go figure.

IS Tails a child here? He's just as tall as Amy (8:43), and 8-year-olds often aren't as tall as legal adults. Oh, and Tails has more smarts and common sense than Knuckles (_why_ did they make him such an idiot? I can't stand the Simpsons doing it to Homer, and it's worse here because Big Red Echidna was smart before, just somewhat naive), and arguably more than Amy or Sonic. So unless I see proof Tails is still somehow 8, I'm going to keep believing he's an adult. Oh, and as for Shadow kicking Tails? That's nothing - he helped *doom the world* in Sonic Adventure 2; he can potentially commit *mass murder* in the eponymous Gamecube game, and broke into two different highly-secured bases in A2 and 2006. Shadow also got Sonic falsely accused and arrested in A2, but literally everyone was holding an Idiot Ball then, because they had a close-up view of Shadow (on TV) and _still_ couldn't tell he wasn't Sonic. Not to mention that the police force arrived so abruptly after Shadow departed that they should've seen the two different hedgehogs.
