And the point is? Who are you talking to? The American Empire is implacably hostile to all who will not serve it.

I don't think it is up to you two gentlemen to say what North Korea "should" do. They are friends with both countries on their border and as one of the few truly sovereign nations will do what it takes to keep the people safe..

@@vivalaleta I was just responding to the title of the video, I'm not interested in Americans talking "shoulds" about other countries, what's the point? They can frame it differently to be of interest ie what is likely.

I'm mixed-race Korean Pakistani American (다문화 한국인들 위하여! 한민족, 인종차별과 혐오금지 ✊🏽✊🏽✊🏽) and a recent UChicago alumna--there were a number of mistakes Chas Freeman made in regards to Korean language, history, and pronunciation. I wasn't a student of any of Prof Cumings' classes, but attended talks he gave in the East Asian dept, he struck me as having the typical yt scholar perception of the geopolitical issues at hand with a superficial understanding of the social reality in South Korean life and the diaspora.

Very interesting. Can you expand on what you mean by a superficial understanding of the social reality in South Korean life and the diaspora? Thanks.

Having my identity fetishized isn't 'very interesting' but racist and offensive. This is also my larger point in regards to South Korea which maintains a blood purity ethos (Han Minjok/korean racial supremacy) & maintains segregation in restaurants, bars, entertainment facilities, and other public venues b/c South Korea lacks a comprehensive anti-discriminatory legal framework operating under the notion of 'homogeneity' which is a dog-whistle for racial/blood-based purity. Severe forms of discrimination such as physical assaults in schools, streets, etc. are common for mixed-race Koreans and racially vulnerable groups among a plethora of racist policies for asylum/refugee seekers and so forth. There is also the largely under recognized post-wwII genocide and ethnic-cleansing of mixed-race Koreans via the adoption industrial complex. A number of survivors are still fighting to having their stories highlighted and for justice & genocide reparations. Here's one link: adaptedpodcast.com/2023/02/12/season-6-episode-12-aneyah-elmore-has-a-story/ Share with others if you're going to be anti-genocide & do the right thing.

@@curious24811 When I said interesting, I wasn't referring to your identity. I was referring to the geopolitical issues in which you said KZbin scholars have a superficial understanding.

@@PomegranateChocolate Alright, I've been fetishized and regarded as a racial curiosity all my life, so I'll just have to take you at your word, it's a trauma response for me at this point. The political points I addressed above goes to show you why. I doubt either of these 'scholars' actually do have any concept of what I've mentioned in regards to policy, history of genocide, and the racial project at hand, which is core to an understanding of a nation-state. In regards to macro genopolitical conversations, this is particularly salient apropos of race with respect to East Asian racial supremacies & struggles for hegemony within an increasingly multipolar world, allegiance w/ whiteness/the west, and so forth.

Han Chinese supremacy and imperialism is rarely discussed for example in context of its analysis as a superpower & how it operates for geopolitical domination & dominion

the Deep State wants to destroy Russia and enlist India in its drang nach China. India is playing a balancing act. "Chas" is a deep state asset. IDK about the creators of htis channel yet, but I'm beginning to lean to the idea that they're deep state too. Trynna turn the "global left" against China/Russia to destroy BRICS and isolate China.

It's the Gell-Mann effect. When speakers contradict what you know then you should just ignore since it's likely propaganda at best.

Disappointed in Chas Freeman. He made several errors speaking about Korea, that show he isn't all that familiar with events, culture or politics there.

Ohhh, Bruce. Repeating these naive theses will not make them real. You are oversimplifying the relationship between the DPRK and Russia. You are trying to label the Western model of proxy-"partnership" to those who profess very different standards.
