For anyone curious I thought I might share the equipment and costs involved in shooting this music video, as it was my first time dipping my toes into filmmaking and I would have loved some insight on these things when I was doing my own research. The sum total of our crew was myself and a few blacksmiths from Oldfield Forge; I had a tight budget, and none of us had experience with filmmaking - but we decided we would try to make something cool anyway. Here is all of the equipment I used to film this video, along with the prices listed to buy them new: Canon EOS R50 Camera - $641 USD Canon RF 50mm f/1.8 Lens - $198 USD DJI Ronin-SC Gimbal - $227 USD NEEWER 43mm Variable ND Filter - $28 USD TOTAL: $1096 For my first attempt with less than a day to film, I was incredibly pleased with how it came out! With just over $1,000 and a little bit of research into how to operate a camera, you can create a video of this quality or better. I was incredibly fortunate to have a bunch of blacksmiths as a "props department" who happened to live within driving distance of a number of medieval castles in the UK, so in terms of costuming and locations the cost was cut significantly (though I more than made up for it with travel costs from Canada to the UK 😅). If this video does well, it makes me hopeful that I might be able to collaborate with more D&D/fantasy creators around the globe to make music videos and short films like this one, which would be an absolute dream.

Had a D&D character with a similar backstory to this hero. He chose to die binding the weapon to him for all of eternity rather than allowing its malevolence to go free and harm others. The idea was his oath from the previous campaign. "Until death herself takes my soul, I will uphold my Oath". And so he swore the weapon would never harm the innocent again no matter what price I must bear. An oath sworn Revenant was not something my group expected to approach them for aid in destroying the weapon and the soul forge responsible for its creation. The backstory reason he chose to approach this party was very light on martial fighters which the weapon had little desire to corrupt as its ego demanded warriors, fighters anyone who used marital weaponry to grant it greater renown.

I always thought Blacksmith Blacksmith could be interpreted in a less heroic light. One of my interpretations was that the singer, of course the person asking for the sword, was being quite rude in asking for that powerful of a sword, like he had a huge ego or something. Now I see this sequel as the blacksmith getting back at him or something, like, "here's your hubris getting back at you," type of deal. Nate! This was awesome!
@travisbrewer164117 күн бұрын
I read some of the lyrics as the swordsman being cursed to defend the blade that made his name, as a Faustian bargain perhaps, as to my ears the "Gods protect any man that tries to claim the blade that made my name" seems more like an earnest, desperate prayer and plead.

The legend of kind Arthur and Camelot has a story of when Arthur’s try’s to find the most important person in the kingdom. Many crafters come before him. The carpenter comes and says “I make the throne upon which you sit I built the table on which your men feast”. The goldsmith came and says “I made the crown upon your head I make golden gifts you give your nobles”. The tailor came and he said “I made the cloak upon your back I make clothes for your men that keep them warm”. Arthur asked how they made these things they showed he there tools the carpenters chisels, the goldsmiths hammers and pliers, the tailors scissors and needle. He said to them “who made the tools you all use” “the blacksmith” all the crafter who came and spoke said. The blacksmith was summoned and Arthur asked “you made all of there tools that make nearly everything in the kingdom, but who made your tools.” He asked the blacksmith “I make my tools and when I lack of one I make it when any crafter or maker lacks of a tool of iron and steel I make it and when they break I repair them. The miners pickaxes, the sailors nails and hogeyes, the wagons wheels and the horses shoes.” And Arthur declared the blacksmith is the most important for nothing easiest without him and no other does he rely on but for the fuel to work.

you can kind of tell the, quite literally, bone weariness in the way the knight fights as well. every swing is heavy, every step reluctant. He wants nay needs this to end as much as the person he is demanded to fight. I wonder if the Blacksmiths are related to the blade maker in anyway.
