What I really love about this video is how muted their expressions are. Colm particularly tends to make super expressive faces when singing so it was noticable! I might think Chase did this by intention to really express the stale or even dolor existence of those experiencing this tale [bonus points to the guy who said this is just australia lmao] I really appreciate how the pickup of aggression and expression in their voices accompanied the story- the affirmation that this "criminal" [slave] labor is intended to be permanent and the anger and seed of rebellion against that in spite of the defeat.

Not gonna lie it was a bit of shameless clickbait, many folks think all nautical-themed folk songs are shanties and are much quicker to click on a video that says “shanty” than “folk song” so . . . I sold out lol.

ChaseNoseworthy another fantastic song. Not sure if you have heard of the Mistborn series by Brandon Sanderson or have read his other books but the description of the Isle of Sin as a hell hole with no way out really reminds me of the description we get of the Pits of Hathsin where Kelsier was forced to work in as punishment for rebelling and where this wife Mare was murdered because she couldn't meet the weekly quota. It was a place the evil Lord Ruler sent political dissident and criminals to die. When we meet him in the first book Kelsier still bears the horrible physical and emotional scars from that place and he was the only person known to have escaped alive. Any other Mistborn fans feel free to chime in. Also ff you haven't read Mistborn the Final Empire would finitely recommend it.

This was really good! Well done guys! Just a bit of feedback from a production standpoint: unless there is really a lot of difference between both of your voices from a physicality perspective, Chase's voice seems much thicker in the mix when he is leading than Colm's voice does. Colm's lead sections in the verses seem to drop a bit of energy and volume compared to Chase's for me. Perhaps it's a difference in EQ settings, but Chase's vocals 'pop' for me much more than Colm's do. Just a thought for you guys. :)
