Okay so everything Starset does is part of a MASSIVE multimedia phenomenon storyline. It's extremely complex and very very convoluted, you'll spend more time learning about the meanings behind the meanings than listening to the music if you aren't careful. They have one of the best live shows I've ever seen complete with VR aspects and a meta narrative that interrupts their show. Dustin Bates is a literal genius and joked about alternating albums with new degrees. He has always been obsessed with space and was a professor at the International College of Space for a few years, so the songs are all extremely intelligent on top of mesmerizing to listen to
@heathervontater57264 жыл бұрын
A really cool bit that Dustin does sometimes is he'll put a vocorder on his mic so he sounds super distorted like the albums for some of the live songs. They also tour with a live cellist and violinist

Their videos are always great, as they consider themselves “cinematic rock” they even have a comic book and a novel based around their music which is commissioned by the “Starset society”. I’ve seen them live 4 times. Singer Has a huge transparent touch screen monitor that he uses for a lot of the distortion and ambient sounds. I’d definitely be interested in seeing you react to more from them. My personal favorite is Everglow.

The strings are two members of the band, one being cello, the other violin. As far as their concept, they're a lore band, so each song on their albums writes a story of sci-fi, they also do small texts before, during, and after releasing a new album to help explain their musical 'journey'. The lead singer has a PhD in avionics engineering and a masters in electrical engineering. He was asked by NASA to assist in creating new tech, but turned it down to become a musician full time.

I saw Starset warm up for Shinedown in London a couple of years ago. I was very impressed with how they translated their ultra-processed sound into a live performance. They (I think 4 band members) had cool space costumes on and had a massive LED screen with visualisation behind them to complement the music. I'm not a massive fan of theirs, but I can appreciate what they do.

Another new one to me, thanks! I just looked them up--they are basically the brainchild of one guy, as you surmised, who does all the writing and most of the singing. He created a fictional backstory for the band and everything they do fits into that concept. Sort of like Poppy, though a completely different genre of music.

Starset songs always have this science fiction thread throughout. And Dustin’s voice is incredible, especially since you can see how it’s improved if you compare something from album 1 to something from the most recent album (#3). Next I recommend you check out My Demons, their most popular song I dare say. Anyway, I just found your channel while looking for a Nightwish Tarja-era reaction and I LOVE your analyses on both songs (Wishmaster and Ricochet). Have you reacted to Epica yet btw? It’s symphonic metal, not rock like Starset. I recommend Once Upon a Nightmare and Cry for the Moon if you’re interested! Also, subscribed! Will definitely be checking out more of your videos ^-^

I'm nicely surprised to see a reaction video for this band as they are not part of the revolving bands in the reaction community, but deserve more attention. Just like the band, I would humbly suggest - IMMINENCE (The song Erase is a good start). Isn't it tempting to have metalcore band, violin, and meaningful lyrics packed in one? I really enjoyed this review as you always show so much attention to the structure and details of the song!

Hoe Gaan Dit, my brother. Starset is a band that you can not take at face value....There is a message in every song and every video....I would suggest you read their book, called 'The Prox Transmission' and then listen to their debut album 'Transmissions'...You have jumped well ahead of what the band is trying to do. Take a few steps back, do some research on the band and their message....It will all start to make sense. I COULD explain it, but then I'm only a second party.

Ricochet is my least favorite Starset music. It's interesting tho because Starset is the only band/artist that I don't have songs that I skip in any of their albums. I love Ricochet and never skip, it's just that it's the weakest track for me (tho many love it). I would suggest Frequency or Where The Skies End for a better understanding what Starset is doing with their music. Their blend with electronic synths and heavy distorted riffs are quite like Alternative Rock but with much more heavy approach. They also have (especially first album) cinematic elements like heavy strings and pianos which is why they call themselves Cinematic Rock. Many people told you about the lore and stuff so I'm passing that. I believe there are far better (especially interestingly composed) tracks by them and hoping you get to cover more later on! Thanks for the reaction.
