Yaay! Some random facts: Floor was sick during this show, can you believe it? The chanting before the song would kinda translate as "every day I love you more, I belong to Nightwish, it's a feeling I can not stop" I was there and it may be my happiest day! This part has to be my favourite, not because of the song but because of the way Floor feeds off the crowd energy, I think I never saw her look this happy before, it melts my heart! Regarding Marko’s vocals, check out Nightwish’s song The Islander live at Tampere...it’s an acoustic ballad sung by him and really shows off his voice. Regarding Troy...multi-instrumentalist...he is a permanent member. He had just gained that status shortly before the Wacken show you’ve been watching so his stage time was limited at that time. As you watch videos from subsequent shows, you’ll see his presence become more pervasive. He plays the pipes, flute, whistles, bouzouki, and some really nice e-bow on electric guitar. And he’s emerging as a third vocalist.

Great Reactions!! There is so much happening in each Nightwish song, but I can listen 10 times and still not catch what you do in one pass. Here you mentioned how much fun they're having ... In the Wacken 2013 version Emppu, the guitarist, sneaks behind Floor and turns off her monitor during this song. She doesn't miss a beat, and you'd never know it happened ... But the next time he tries to pass behind her she turns from the crowd and looms over him like 'i know what you did, and I'm going to beat your ***' ... But all in good fun. Every member of this band has mastered their craft(s).

This is why I keep recommending Nightwish on reaction channels, there are always surprises, different musical styles, vocal techniques, rhythm changes, syncopations, etc. so they never get boring. Also the reason I admire them as much as I do is that there are no egos, they do what the music/song calls for, don't care one bit about their own self gratification at all. You are quickly becoming my favorite channel, you really get all the nuances, stuff I have been thinking to myself, but that reactors rarely mention if at all.

When you get to the new album, I suggest doing it all in order. There's gonna be a lot of requests for tribal and endlessness, but I feel the album feels a lot better if you listen it in the order than it was meant to be listened at. Tuomas is is a brilliant guy who doesnt just think about composing songs but a whole journey on an album. Also don't forget the (instrumental) 2nd part of the album. Even though it doesn't feature the band members (aside from floor singing/humming in Ad Astra) its a masterpiece that's definitely part of the human nature experience. Troy and Floor were announced as full-time members of the band in the same press release, on 9th Oct 2013, just after the end of the Imaginaerium world tour, of which Wacken was the 3rd from last date. Floor, of course, had famously replaced Anette Olzon on 1st Sept 2012, although at the time it was just to allow them to complete the tour. Being contacted by the band two days before (during her sister's wedding, no less) while in her home country of The Netherlands, it was certainly an amazing feat to learn the setlist while packing everything and travelling to the US to be on stage with them in Seattle in such a short time. Troy had been playing with them far longer than Floor, so when they announced that she would become the permanent lead vocalist (as they had to, or lose her), they used the opportunity to bring him officially into the fold as well. Since then, it is reasonable for his role to have expanded within the band, so he is getting more vocal time. I think most of the history of the band before and during that tour is covered in the documentary "Please learn the setlist in 48 hours" which is here on KZbin.

Great job man, loving the videos, how you pick out some the bits you do first time I have no idea but really enjoying the breakdown of all the work bands put into their songs so we can appreciate it more. Fairly new to Nightwish as well but I think Troys (on the pipes) has been around for a while but is getting more prominent in their music, especially on the new album. He plays a lot of instruments, he's the guy playing the open guitar bit on 7 Days to the Wolves. I think The Islander would be a good song to listen to, probably not as complex as most of theirs as its a lot more laid back but Marco's the lead singer on it and he gets show of a bit vocally in it. Again, really enjoying the videos and been introduced to some great new bands from them as well so thanks!!

Marko does guest vocal appearances with Delain, I would really recommend watching a live version of The Gathering ft Marko, for a really upbeat track, and hearing Marko in a different context. I saw him sing with them in London a few years ago, the energy in the crowd was amazing.

Buenos Aires is always a go to concert. Nightwish and the crowd interaction is the best there is. The lead in to any of their songs is so distinctive, you immediately know what is coming, and the crowd responds. Normally the crowd puts their arms up in the air and clapping. In Buenos Aires the full crown goes into a bounding dance move. What could we possible add to Nightwish? Well I've got this guy named Troy, you have to hear him. Troy add so much to Nightwish.

I particularly love this video/concert because of how playful they are with the crowd, the overall energy is so fun

Do youwant to know the most mindblowing fact? Floor cought a cold on this tour! (I saw them on this tour in Germany and she had it there too!) She wasn't complete healthy yet, but didn't want to cancel the tour! THIS is Floor by not 100 %!!!! This song is so mutch fun, especially with Floor dancing! She looks so happy! Great reaction!

Dude you are SUPER good at this! Seriously, yours are the nicest, most informative reactions I have seen so far! I've been listening to this band every day of my life for the last 20+ years (no kidding) and you made me notice details I had never noticed before! Keep up the amazing work, you'll reach 100.000 subs in no time!

Wow, thank you for this. Really appreciate this kind of comment. Hopefully we'll keep growing and exploring new music together. 100k sub here we come!

The more of these I watch, the more of a Nightwish fan I become. Hope they are able to tour near me at some point. Wish this music was bigger in the US.

The gentleman on the pipes is Troy! He's from the UK (the only non-scandinavian to ever join the band afaik) and YES! He is a permanent fixture now! He was offered a contract the same time that Floor was, or very near. Personally, I don't think Nightwish is at peak condition without him. He can play virtually every folk instrument know to man, can sing, he's funny and easy going, he's just the best. One of my favorite Nightwish tracks is "My Walden" from the Wembley 2015 show, and that one shows of a bunch of his skills all at once!

so good to see, that you like Nightwish as much as we do and giving us this profound analysis ...

Chase, you are great! Keep up the good work, the things you point out make me appreciate Nightwish even more. No idea if others already suggested it but if you want to hear more of Floor: try the song Sancta Terra from the band Epica, the live version features Floor. Or Floor’s performances at the Dutch TV show ‘beste zangers’ (best singers), a show where Dutch singers from very diverse backgrounds sing songs to each-other. Floor sings a number of songs there as she was one of the participants. Her Phantom of the opera duet is mind-blowing. And if you ever want more female fronted metal we Dutch have more in store for you: Epica, Within Temptation, the Gathering (with the Godmother of female fronted metal Anneke van Giersbergen), Delain.. Must be something in our water that were are blessed with so many fantastic Metal female vocalists.

Some people hate the pauses but these are songs I have heard a million times and I can go straight back to Napster to listen to them. Because of that I am here not for the song but the commentary and you are really good at what you are doing. Your commentary is very interesting and really makes me appreciate these songs even more because I learn to listen to things I have not even realised before.

Great reaction, as always. Love it when you get technical and the fact that you notice the little things that even seasoned Nightwish fans may have missed. I would love it if you would react to "While we sleep" by Insomnium, I think you will really enjoy that. 🙂

Oh Chase I just love the way you really can dissect the music with being a bit clinical but also you can tell you're genuinely having a great time. I'll sometimes watch the reaction, the clip itself then back to your commentary. I'm finding myself hearing stuff in music I've never paid so much attention to. Thank you. I've been really into live music forever (my first gig was nirvana in like 92 when they came for the big day out here in Australia) so I can't wait to get out to the shows again with new eyes & ears

@@ChaseCarneson that's very kind! I appreciate you also 😊 KZbin has been keeping me sane through this whole lockdown thing. I live alone, I've seen hardly anyone & it's been pretty rough all round. So having this escape is brilliant. And I'm learning stuff at the same time, what's not to like eh?

Troy is an official member of the band. You should check out more songs with him. I recommend 'My Walden' live at Tampere, 'Last of the Wilds' live at Wacken, 'While Your Lips are Still Red' live at Wembly Arena.

Love spending time with you, too! I feel like I learn so much listening to your reactions about musical theory, about hearing things I hadn't heard before even though I've heard the song 1000x times, you find something new for me to hear. It's truly awesome. Thanks for the update and love the content, as always. Stay safe, stay well!

@@ChaseCarneson there are alot of so called reaction channels on youtube but you are the only one that has an ear for all the small details going on in a song and are very precise in your analysis and have a great insight and not to mention a genuine excitement during various parts of a band's performance unlike the generic "that's cool" or "yea she can sing" just for the sake of "reacting" ..Nightwish is my favorite band ever since i hear their "Nemo" with Tarja back in the days when mtv actually played some decent music ..really looking forward for your reactions and analysis on The Poet and The Pendulum and The Greatest Show on Earth !!
