Just discovered Nightwish. So NOT a heavy metal fan, but Nightwish incorporates so many genres and textures, I am a fan. Their live performances are epic rock/metal/lyrical opera!!Have binge watched much of their online catalog, and fell in love with them all. They seem to find so much pleasure in performing, and the vibe with Floor seems effortless and just fits. The entire band has incredible skills. Mesmerizing!!

Yes, their basist Marco was lead vocalist and front man of his own band for 15 years before joining Nightwish. One of the best male voices in Finland. And that just gets you the basist slot in Nightwish :) Also... "Life is like Nightwish discography... you'll never know what you're going to get."

Marko (the bassist) is a great singer in his own right. He used to be the lead singer in his own band and still does 'solo' gigs on the side. In Nightwish, he has some songs where he has the lead vocals. If you want to see that, I can recommend "The Islander'" Live at Tampere. Link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/kKCbn5aBlJqesMU

Marko still is the lead singer (although sharing the duties with Tommi Salmela) and bass player of Tarot. The band doesn't gig much but it is still alive. After their drummer's passing in -16 the band was put on a back burner so to speak.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Nightwish....they have such a wide range of music ... a genius composer/songwriter...musicians that are all on point (and great other vocalists) , and a singer/frontwoman that is otherworldly. Enjoy the rabbit hole as all of us have. Emppu is a great guitarist...I always feel he doesn’t play a note that’s unnecessary (including his pinch harmonics and pick slides). Marko (bassist) sings on different songs and is outstanding (Song of Myself, older stuff like Master Passion Greed, The Islander for more folk style singing). He and Floor’s harmonies are so great. Great reaction and breakdown of the song. Subscribed 🤘

Chase Carneson ... thanks for your well-educated, well-spoken reactions. The Nightwish Army really appreciate good reviews of their (possessive intended) treasured band. I've watched a lot of "reactors" ranging from purely emotional reactions (I actually recommend watching one other reactor, HalfLifeSistah) to other genre reviewers. Your reactions will likely attract more subs as we in the "Army" appreciate informed viewers. If I may...The Poet And The Pendulum is a true magnum opus and one of my favorites. It elicits a range of emotions and paints a broad canvas. The visual orchestration is as important as the lyrical. Welcome to the "Army". Enjoy your enlistment.

"Who is this band and what did they do to the other Nightwish?" - funny enough, both Ghost Love Score and Romanticide are on the same album "Once". And yeah, Marco's got an incredible range of his own. If you dive further into exploring their voices, you might notice that the "effect" on that - overload-thing - wasn't much more than a reverb or echo. They both are capable of a lot of vocal juggling. Anyway, as a musician myself, you got me hooked on your actual analysis compared to the usual waffle that's over all of YT. Kudos and good luck on your way down this rabbit hole rollercoaster. There's no turning back now. lol

Floor can sing in many different ways from the opera/classical style to growls. Marco is also a brilliant singer who sings lead on a few songs. All members of NW have their moments to shine and all perfected their craft. Roy Smothers thats an urban legend (confirmed by Marco). He sent his album to Maiden management for consideration to replace Bruce back in -93, whether or not he was even considered is not know to anyone. Steve Harris apparently at some interview said there was tape from a scandinavian guy who sounded like a mix between Bruce and Dio but we dont even know if he was talking about Marco or some other singer. Marco was talking about this in an interview on a Finnish radio show and they even asked him if he has ever talked about this with Steve later on, and Marco said something along the lines of ”if I can barely remember sending a tape back then, I’m not going to ask whether or not he remembers listening to my tape among the other 8000 tapes that was sent to them”. And knowing Maiden they wanted a Brit, not a random guy from scandinavia. And lets be honest I love Nightwish and Marco but as a singer in Maiden, I dont think he would’ve fit in those massive boots.
@roy194914 жыл бұрын
@@imf11511 thanks for the clarification......as far as Maiden, the guy they chose was a major disaster......

Roy Smothers Blaze wasnt a bad singer but his voice was so different from Bruce’s for whom most of the songs were written (excluding the first 2 records Iron Maiden and Killers where Paul Dianno sang). Song that were written for Blaze werent bad but his era was completely different sound-wise. If Steve and the band were able to find someone who was close to Bruce’s talent they would’ve hired him on the spot. Goes to show its not easy to replace a god-like singer like Bruce or Floor.

The other part to be aware of is that they all do other projects separate from Nightwish where you may hear different aspects. Examples being Auri composed of Troy, Tuomas and Tuomas' wife Johanna. Floor did a TV show in the Netherlands last summer (Beste Zangers 2019) where she sang in multiple styles and languages over an 8 week period. Marko has released several new songs in the past year including Isäni ääni. Even though I don't speak Finnish I prefer that version to the English version he did a few months later. Additionally, he often appears as a guest with the band Delain. Additionally, there is a yearly festival that translates as Heavy Christmas. Last year Marko and Floor performed Ave Maria. It was not their first time doing it there but there are KZbin videos with decent sound for it. Emmpu also does other projects. Firetribe being one.
@OJB423 жыл бұрын
I think Chase does some of the best analysis videos on KZbin: a great combination of enthusiasm and knowledge. Also, he concentrates on the music overall, not just the vocals like some others. BTW, this is an awesome song: a more metal/hard rock song than most. They are a symphonic *metal* band, after all!

You are one of the best, if not the best reactor on these kind of songs, while you know the techniques behind the sounds, even on the live concerts. That is remarkable. And Nightwish are absolutely astounding in live concerts, with so many different styles, mix and special sounds. There are 3 singer in Nightwish, Floor which you already has discovered can deliver Floorgasms (it is ok with Floor this word), and the Bassist Marko, and Troy that's a multi instrument genius. I would suggest My Walden as next, to show you another style - celtic - where Troy is singing and showing some skills - from Tampere 2015 or Wembley 2015. Great reaction from you 👍 🤘

In this show a couple of singers sing songs for eachother. I heard You say Broadway...check out her Duet with Henk Poort as the Phantom of the Opera in that program....ENJOY!! You give very nice reactions and i love to see young people appriciation rockmusic. Greetings from Holland

Chase, thank you very much for the reaction to Romanticide! It was a pleasure. The breakdown of the song was very informative and puts new light on my favorite band...Nightwish. Welcome to the Nightwish Army! There are a whole bunch of us out there and most of us are kind and considerate. Continue your Nightwish adventure and the next song should be Song of Myself from the same Wacken 2013 concert. Thanks again for your thoughts and comments on Romanticide!

Ghost River and Song of Myself will give you a taste of Marko and Floor merging perfectly from the same Wacken concert. Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean from Buenos Aires 2018 is also killer 🤟🤟✌️✌️

Most intelligent and thoughtful reaction and evaluation I've seen yet. Love to see some more on Nightwish. I just discovered them about a year ago and fell in love. Thanks!

He's back 🤘🤘🤘 Still processing of what he just heard..... Floor has so many colors in her sound, it is with every song a WAAUUWWW. When you have done al the songs of Wacken 2013, wembley 2015 then you're ready for there new album human of nature.. And then especially the song schoemaker,..... even for Floor was this a eye opener that she had more colors in her sound then what she thought to have ( sorry for my English 😇) But lets continue this adventure and the nightwish army is having your back. Stay healthy 💪🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘

I'm surprised how little it comes up in the 'react' circles because it really gives every member of the band room to shine. Especially Troy as he brings out every celtic instrument under the sun, plus the visuals around their Tampere performance are just amazing. Love this song.
