I agree with that. I hate when some reactors pause, usually in the middle of an amazing moment, to say stuff like "I just can't, this is so fire." and then ramble a bit, and then continue. The pauses here, however, are interesting, because they explain and give insight :)

As far as I know, when you are not aware of something you see or hear, it acts on a subconscious level. You, being trained in the field, are aware and help us to understand too. I wonder which springs of the subconscious act on. I have some ideas, based on the effects on many of us. They are positive :)

One of my favorites! I love it when Marco starts with this long note and Floor takes it over into another verse at 6:26. When I try to explain the genius of Nightwish to people that never heard them, it's so frustrating people always seem to think that I just say that because I love them. NO! Nightwish IS genius! Tuomas IS a modern day Mozart! Thank you for talking about the technical things in their music. I learn something every time.

I really appreciate you pointing out all of the little technicalities that we love but probably don’t pick up on. Your analysis is always enlightening. Personally I think you’ll be ready for The Poet and the Pendulum once you’ve done I Want My Tears Back (Wacken version), as you’ve not seen/heard Troy yet. The other song besides Poet that you’ll need to prepare for (lyrics) is The Greatest Show On Earth live at Tampere. I think that one will blow you away the most.

I also appreciate your technical observations, so keep pausing when you think it fits. You said something about the pyrotechnics as well. I would love to ask: can you also react to NW’s way of using colors and fireworks in particular during their shows? For me it’s highlighting the sat, cool, warm, shanty or heavy emotions they like to express in their music and lyrics. Fire, red, orange and yellow (or even white) for passion, strength and/or aggression etc. Blue, green and purple for cooling down, melancholy and sadness. It contributes to feeling the emotions they like to express and gives you that movie soundtrack experience during the concert. You can see what it’s working out in the audience. Be aware as well that during the show NW is running pre-recorded orchestral and/or choir tapes to complete what not can be done live. So that humming sound you heard could be on tape made by the London Symphony Orchestra or the choir.

There is a lot to unpack in their new album, Tuomas took it upon himself to throw down the gauntlet to his band mates. Floor said the melodies were difficult to get down before adding her emotion to it. Emppu (the guitarist) said one of the songs will probably kill him doing it live lol. And the drummer Kai had to add more drums to his kit to even play some of the songs. What I love about this band is they're not afraid to try something new and it keeps us on our toes. Can never get bored of listening to Nightwish

Her expressions show what a great performer she is. When you see her kind of acting goofy and pointing at her face, she's singing the lyrics "Smiling like a clown until the show has come to an end". She's not just singing the lyrics, she's performing them.

Honestly I can't keep commenting the same thing basically. every video you do is super fun to listen to, and very informative. All I can say I guess is keep it up, and also I am a little disappointed in the Nightwish army that you have now done 4 videos of them and are only sitting at 4k subscribers... this man is breaking down their performances and showing appreciation more than any channel out there, and his reactions are genuine, where I think most others, know they are making a video and want to make sure they show "mind blown" expressions. Nightwish Army where are you?

When Jukka stepped down and Kai took over, Kai said the timing and time changes were very challenging to him. Jukka and Kai have a tick-track so everything aligns with the backing track. As another actually skilled reactor said, you have got to have a top drummer for this sort of show and the drummer needs to be on their game.

Her smile is great. When I first saw this I thought, why is she smiling maniacally during that line, then I realised it is because the lyrics are, "Smiling like a clown until the show has come to an end", and she is acting it out brilliantly. I love for those details in her performance. Wonderful!

I love how genuinely smitten you've become with this band. A lot of the technicalities in Tuomas's songwriting are used by many bands, but almost none of them manage to make them sound 'natural', as in you instinctively feel the rhythm is different, but feels right. I also have to agree with your comment on the joy Floor radiates. I've seen Nightwish before with the other singers, but never really was into them. However, one of my favorite bands back in the day was After Forever, which was her band. I only learned she joined Nightwish not too long ago, but by the way they've performed ever since, it's clear they've entered another stage. I'm actually "getting" their music now, and am fully immersed in it. You really have to look into Poet and the Pendulum and Greatest Show on Earth - but make sure you read up on the backstory of both songs, it amplifies the experience.

You said earlier that Floor is strong in her operatic mode - well she is, yes - but it is in her head- and chestvoice she is completely outstanding - and this in combination with her ability to switch effortless between these different styles, which less than a handful of singers can do. And she has a completely unique ability to express emotions in her singing - which you will experience in The Poet and the Pendulum. Later on in your journey comes growling.... 😉

Definitely one of my favourites. Toumas is a genius; the fact that in studio they all work the song together as a team too, I think makes them so tight when performing it. Amazing reaction once again, learning stuff everytime, Love It!! When she was smiling she was actually singing "Smiling like a clown until the show has come to an end" and it shows how Floor really communicates the lyrics not just with her voice but her whole body and face, if you watch it again you ll see that som le in the same place in the first chorus as well. But yes, they are having fun and it shows. Normally I would recommend something, but Nightwish are so freaking good you can pretty much pick whatever you want. You could stay with Wacken, still much to discover here, but you are definitely ready for Poet and the Pendulum (Wembley) or even goto The Greatest Show on Earth (Tampere)', another epic performance.

I love your attention to detail regarding the musicality of Nightwish and this song. It is very interesting how they go from 7/8 or sets of 4/4 & 3/4 and then straighten it out for the chorus to 4/4. They go back and forth during the entire song until the second half. Then right at the ending vocal pattern they switch between 3/4 & 4/4 until the ending. Great analysis and reaction to this song. This was inspired by a Walt Whitman poem of the same name. Tuomas is an avid poetry fan and it shows in his lyrical compositions. You are ready for Poet and the Pendulum. Just check on-line for the story behind this song. That way you will understand what the song is about before you listen. This is critical to understand the performance. It has very deep meaning for Tuomas (correct on the pronounciation) and the rest of the original members who were involved in the breakup with the 1st vocalist, Tarja. Many people will comment on the emotion as an unrequited love between Tuomas and Tarja, which has never been acknowledged. I however think the emotional response was about Tuomas' dream of creating Nightwish. His music and poetry, a labor of love for his fans, and his depression about the possible loss of all he had worked so hard to establish. It is obviously done with a nod to Edgar Allen Poe's masterpiece, "The Pit and the Pendulum". I look forward with anticipation to your reaction and analysis to what may be Tuomas' most emotional masterpiece. Below a few lines from the ending of "Song of Myself". Be well! Peace my friend. A silent symphony A hollow opus #1,2,3 Sometimes the sky is piano black Piano black over cleansing waters Resting pipes, verse of bore Rusting keys without a door Sometimes the within is piano black Piano black over cleansing waters All that great heart lying still and slowly dying All that great heart lying still on an angelwing

And what a “boy" that was: still the most meticulous and sharp musical analyst I ever saw on this platform! You add SO MUCH depth to our musical experience! I sure as hell make sure that I won’t lose you again! Thank you for who you are - and thank you Nightwish who made your transformation happen! ♥

The studio version then goes into a beautiful seven or eight minutes of spoken word poetry with instrumental backing.... go have a listen, there is no limit to how epic Tuomas can get with these songs

Oh wow nice catch with the low hum and it being lifted by the drums... this song is based on a poem about the light and dark sides of life I think.

GREAT REACTION!! Loving your Nightwish content. I'd like to suggest "Last Ride of the Day" from this same show. It's an AMAZING show closer that doesn't get nearly the love it deserves!

Pipe dreams, I know, but you would make the ideal person to interview Nightwish, especially Tuomas. I reckon he would appreciate your insight, and the fact that you seem to 'get him'.

You are one of the few reactors that I actually _listen_ to. Many others, I hit play, then fast forward, just so they get some sort of viewership credit. You, on the other, hand, I listen to. I have been a musician all my life and tend to hear things differently than my friends or family. So, listening to your opinion is often validation for my own thoughts, but also revelation because of how much _more_ you bring to the conversation than I could possibly come up with. Tl;dr - pause as much as you like. 👍

Chase Carneson, It would be so cool if you could react to a full concert. Maybe do two songs from the concert in one sitting, and pick up where we left off another time, and so on. I also really want to hear your reaction to "The Greatest Show on Earth" , as it is a phenomenal piece of music, I hope you take this request into consideration. Love listening to your knowledge of music that you pick up on their many amazing techniques in each of the Nightwish compositions. Cheers.

Those low humming notes in the beginning which cause a feeling of unease are something Howard Shore used in the Lord of the Rings soundtrack quite a lot and to great effect I might add... Love your reactions!

Sometimes, just sometimes reactions are not just reactions. They are educational. Yours is one them. You dig out musical aspects like no one else. Other nightwish-reactors worth of checking is Guylain Prince (weird monk/priest, allknowing, smiling Santa claus) and Patrol Gaming (meanings behind lyrics gets deep investigation).

First of all, thank you for the way you explain the things they are doing. I rarely subscribe to any reaction channel because frankly way too many of them are done by people who know little or nothing about music. I want reactors who can teach me something and you do such a fantastic job of that. I'm pretty sure I subbed the first time I heard a reaction from you and I do not regret it. Another big Thumbs Up!

It seems that not many people know Floor is a High Sensitive Person (her own statement). High sensitivity, also called HSP, appears to occur in about 20% of the population. It is a unique quality (not an illness or condition)! Highly sensitive people have the ability to process sensory stimuli in a different and unique way. Often they are intuitive, highly sensitive to the atmosphere and are able to read and estimate people. Floor uses this to her advantage in her singing and performing, better yet, she made an art form out if it (my personal believe). This explains partly why Floor is so overwhelmingly power full in her performance. Her talent, voice, technique and hard work is amplified by her highly developed sensitive side...(if you ask me)... and of course she is fueled by the enthusiasm of the Nightwish fans...

Sidenote about Jukka (the drummer) he was suffering with total insomnia at that time, so probably had not slept much if at all. The precision and above that, raw emotion and agression he put in at the appropriate times ... pretty awesome. The difference between him and Kai (the new drummer) taught me you can actually transfer quite a lot (or very little) emotion using an instrument I thought quite technical and binary.
