7 hours isn't a commute. No one drives for 3.5 hours to work. Although I'm sure there is some ridiculous exceptions. 7 hours is a tour or road trip.

I actually know someone who lives in a complete other state and travels every Sunday night into town, every Friday night out of town. He bought a house in another state and absolutely loves where he lives, BUT he also loves his job just as much and refuses to quit. He enjoys driving so he has no problem with it. Obviously the exception to the rule, but your comment made me think of him

Being a fellow R7 owner. I rode my bike from LA to San Jose right after I picked it up. Being that it’s a super sport, I knew what I was getting myself into. The ride wasn’t uncomfortable to me at all personally. I only stopped for gas a water during the trip, and it was honestly a blast. I thought the ride would be terrible, since I come from riding bobbers, but I was actually surprised at how nice it was. Power is there when you need it, and it’s so lightweight and nimble; it makes turning a breeze. One of my favorites bikes I’ve owned hands down!

R7 is not a supersport. supersports are not going to be comfortable on long rides. you are supposed to squeeze with your legs and core and bend you arms so they are 90 degrees. if you do it right you arms don't get tired, and your wrists don't hurt because you aren't putting supporting your body weight on your wrists. if you are riding at fast speeds, such as highway speeds, you can generally stay more upright longer because the wind will help keep you up a bit. but you still have to lean over enough to at least have hold of the throttle. the exception is if you have a "cruise control" mod, but even then that only reduces the hand cramps from holding the throttle in place. eventually, your back and legs will get sore and hurt. your hands will cramp up. you COULD get some handlebar risers, and there are some aftermarket ones that go up like 3 inches which is HUGE, but then you have to get new brake and throttle cables, and chop up your front end because it will no longer have clearance. EVEN then, you'll be more upright, but it still won't be as comfortable as a cruiser. riding a supersport as a crusier is uncomfortable. they are designed to basically be laid down on for racing. you can do it sure, but it will not be enjoyable. just get a cruiser for the road trips, and save the crotch rocket for the track or fun little weekend rides or short commutes in the city.

I'm a cruiser guy through and through but when i got my cbr600rr i thought it was gonna be uncomfortable until i found a trick to make the trip pleasant. Just lie down on your belly and relax. Get a tank bag so you can rest your belly or your chest onto it to take the load off of your back. A bit too cramped for your legs though but all you gotta do is stretch your legs once in a while.

I love your comprehensive reviews so much. Been watching you for a while, not really sure how long but definitely since around September of 2019, when I was trying to get into bikes as a hobby. I think the quality of your content is unmatched, your reviews are in depth and unbiased, and also fun to watch! I really really dislike Yammie noob. He's an example of a BAD reviewer. He's very biased and I rarely ever hear him say anything good about any bike that's not an MT-07 or an R1. I've been meaning to get into the hobby for so long but still trying to find the right bike for me. I want something I can cruise on for fun on the weekends and go on road trips in. I live in Phoenix, AZ and would love to be able to take a bike on a weekend cruise to California and back. Still have not found the right bike for me but still looking and watching videos like this to get my "fill" haha. Been thinking about the Rebel 500 but there is pros and cons to that bike. Still unsure.

Just this week I put Vortex 0° clip-ons on my R7. The grips are a little further forward, but higher, and the grip angle has more broad contact with the heal of my hand, which greatly helps reduce fatigue over the OEM grip angle. There is just enough clearance with the cowl, and I may have just invented an MT-R7... 7 hours will not be a problem on it now, the change is just enough to make longer rides practical. I can't imagine riding 7 hours with the OEM grip angle. Things are reasonably close, but Saturday I hope to make the last adjustments to the grips and levers positions. One thing to note, I had to order some EPDM rubber hose(1/2" OD and 1/4" ID) since the hose from the brake reservoir to the master cylinder is real short and is a limiting factor of adjusting the orientation of your grips and brake lever. I had to order the hose in a longer length, so I have some to spare, for the next 10 times I have to do this. LOL. I got what I needed though.

Other than work, i plan to take drives to town(about an hour if you drive speed limit) or just cruising around for joy rides. Does the sport position ever get tiring? Chase, a question, how do you think about the vibration on this motor? Does it make your hands or thighs go numb after a while? (I know it's not a big single thumper like Vitpilen 700, but still, 350cc for each cylinder is potentially huge enough to shake the body, for me ). How do you feel compared to your R6? P.S. this video makes me itch to ride again soooo bad. And I really want the R7, man, it's even slimmer than R25 but the motor has a lot beefier punch.

i commuted on my R1, i mean if the commute is short you want more, now on a 3+ fun weekend ride, that seating is not the best especially with a bad back, but you get over it. Cruiser/Tourer is the way for long trips, sport bike is fun tho, don't see me living without a sport bike till my back just can't anymore.

Don't let your pelvis tilt forward, keep it upright with the stomach pulled in and the lower back filled out. If you let the pelvis tilt forward, your back will sag and it will tire. I learned this from riding road bicycles where the handlebar is well below the saddle.

Exactly why I ended up with a Supersport S over the Panigale v2 in the Ducati world. I can ride the SSS all day no problem, the v2 has it's limits. Seems like the R7 actually fits in between them.

Same reason I bought a cbr650r it's a nice balance. Not quite a vfr or k1200 but it's still perfect for most rides and handles the highways fine for a sport bike

OC: Definitely not for long commutes. But a day in the mountains, especially my favourite mountain road I'd go for that. Cruise control on the highway would be the only thing I'd want. Because roughly 2 hours to the mountains and back. Your wrist will thank God for cruise control when you want to spend the whole day doing some technical riding in the mountains.

I live about 4 miles from pavement, but it's doable on a bike.. once you hit the highway, there's about 3/4 mile of straight, and then you go over a small pass... I believe there's a video somewhere on the tube of someone riding over it, White Pine Drive ... its like 29 curves in 6 miles, and all around where I live is beautiful 2 lane curvy mountain highways... someday I will have a scoot and do some vlogging... I did a day of just over 9hrs on a 600 once, and after a few ibuprofen, a hot shower, and a sleep, I wished I could've went another 5-7 hrs again the next day.... I'm short, like 5'7", so not too cramped up, and could lay down and hang my feet on the passenger pegs... Cheers...

Just some advice for any riders out there that have to use a sport bike, I always like carrying some luggage with me on the backseat. I then bring some straps and a pillow and put the pillow in between the straps. It helps a lot with soreness on long trips.
