I notice a ton of bikes seem to be mucking about with 2nd gear power. I think an ECU flash is becoming more and more mandatory to get a smooth/refined feel from modern ECU's.
@ganuvienАй бұрын
ECU flashes are mandatory to remove throttle restrictions on every modern bike.... They're neutered in the first few gears to where you might be giving 100% but in reality at lower rpm's it's giving 50%. World of a difference on every modern bike i've ridden.
@Champion2ManagerАй бұрын
ECU flash and a tune would do the trick but you might impact the engine breaking setup on the bike and add more smoothness to the overall power range, so it isn’t always a win win situation as you might loose the roar character of the MT09.
@biga2Ай бұрын
@@Champion2Manager absolutely not the case, it roars so much more, and most of the tunes seek to calm the engine breaking down a bit because it can be a bit too much(at least in my opinion).

There seems to be a consensus this is a great motorcycle. Things I believe can make it better: 1) Larger LCD; 2) A better looking headlight cluster; 3) A stronger chassis (front-end); 4) OEM windscreen options (and other protective panels as well). QUESTION: Are the handlebar buttons backlit?
@Oliver0200Ай бұрын
What do you think between this and the last gen? Is this gen better? I'm looking into getting one of the two.
@paulhope3401Ай бұрын
@Oliver0200 Yes, the gen4 is better than the Gen3... it's also a chunk more expensive though. Aside from the better brakes (Stylemas) and latest gen QS that now allows you to change up and down regardless of throttle position, They did just about everything I wanted to do to my Gen3 SP.. Larger LCD, lower bar risers for more front end feel, I believe it also has a slightly better steering lock?, and now has a slightly stiffer front spring... which would suit my >110kg weight better. Is it that much better that I'd be happy to fork out >3k to trade up to the Gen4 version of the SP? Probably not... the Gen3 is still an incredible bike.. but yeah, the gen4 is a bit better.
@corujariousaАй бұрын
@@Oliver0200 I have not not had the pleasure to ride one yet but I am considering buying the 2024 MT-09 SP. All reviews (videos, forums, etc) seem to agree it is an improvement to the previous year models and the SP extra cost is totally worth it. I personally like the 2024 looks more than the previous ones. Still there is room for improvements in the areas I mentioned. Good luck!
@Frank_TorreАй бұрын
OC: The SP model is definitely the one to go with. Having owned a MT09 SP it's incredible. The price bump over the base model is worth it, as if you tried to upgrade a base model to match it's SP variant you would actually spend more than just buying the SP at the start. Also guarantee someone on this press launch asked a Yamaha rep "When are we getting the R9?"
@garrettbrown3126Ай бұрын
I couldn’t disagree more, I am coming from a rsv4 I wanted a pretty fast, more comfortable, daily rider and I went and road the 23 and 24 SP and the 24 base and the base 24 bike has the exact same front suspension components as the SP and the rear is just missing the remote reservoir. The brakes are not as good but most people are not tracking their bike and a simple pad swap will give them more than enough brake feel to be happy. I got the base model 24 for $9500 out the door and used the savings for a leonvince exhaust, tune, brake pads, tank pads and still have about 1500 dollars extra left in my pocket over the SP. if you are a advanced level rider or track then yea go SP

@tranquilmind8487Ай бұрын
@@jackson_foto in your opinion then, even with adjusting for the road, are you saying it was still too stiff
@jackson_fotoАй бұрын
@@tranquilmind8487 yup. It was fantastic for aggressive riding on smooth roads but no matter what I tried I couldn’t get it dialed in for my preferences. My main point in the comparison between the two 765 models and the SP was that the SP strikes a fantastic balance between performance and comfort, almost like getting the best of both triumphs out together.

I have not rode a 2024 yet but have ridden the first 3 generations of the MT09. I am not sure what they could have done to make the 24 model better than the 3rd generation. With thousands of miles on the other generations I feel personally the 3rd generation resolved the problems of the first generations. Some people would complain about being paid with used money. Those are 99 percent of the complaints I have heard against the 3rd generation MT09s. They make different brands, colors, sizes and shapes of bikes for a reason, not everyone likes the same thing. So if the MT09 doesn’t float your boat move on. Don’t tell someone they are married to an ugly person!! I don’t care what you ride but I will tell you don’t mess with a good rider on a MT09.
