This is the motorcycle that got me back into riding. I own a Pearl White 2016 CBR500R ABS and I couldn't be any more happier. It's really fun to ride around and often get complimented on the looks of it. Been riding it since August commuting and it's perfect for that. I haven't had a problem with the brakes at all as I thought they were good already. The only thing that I had a problem was highway riding which tucking would help. Every week I also go 2 up with it and it handles it with no issues. I absolutely love my bike!

Coming from a person who owns one... The dash rattles at a certain rpm but a rubber spacer fixes it and it sounds better at higher revs. The wind sucks, get a different windscreen. It's an awesome starter bike you won't get bored of quick. Brakes could be better but not terrible.

Had mine for 2 months now and the brakes do bed in after about 200 miles for a much better bite on initial pull. Swapped the standard exhaust for XIL Sport slip on and makes a cleaner note now. Great MPG even when giving it a bit of a twist. Great review!

Bought the wife this bike back in April. She's 5'2" and a whole 130 pounds and has never ridden. She's doing great. Two Bros. exhaust sounds great on it. The brakes do get better with time for sure and with ABS, they are just right. Power is very linear and fantastic. Vagabond Motorsports makes an incredible fender eliminator kit for it and T-Rex Racing makes a bolt-on no fairing cut frame slider that looks very good on the bike as well. I would definitely recommend this bike over a 300. Its power is linear and gives you enough to get out of trouble vs. the 300's that have issue getting out of their own way.

Love this review! Had the fortune of riding the naked version of this bike when I took my license. It's an incredible package. I think the reason few people talk about it is because 1, it doesn't fit with the 600 and 650 class bikes due to power and cost. That means it falls closer to the 300 range, but these are smaller and Honda already has a CBR 300R so whenever tests are made with the Ninja and R3, it's always the little brother 300R that gets chosen, and thus very few people ever get to know this bike. I personally think it's the absolutely best option for beginners. It has great torque down low and its easily accessible power fits its looks so well, especially if you do a lot of city riding or twisties. I remember some of the first times I tried it, it was pulling great in second all the way near redline. I changed up tp 3rd, expecting it to have less pull, but it fell right down low in the revs where all the power was, and it pulled just as hard as in 2nd I nearly slid off and had to grab the handlebars so tight xD I will always recommend this bike to anyone who are getting into motorcycles, or even seasoned riders who want a fun, easy to ride commuter bike that looks like smoke and thunder!

Chase, I also want to say thanks for all the great videos you post. I’ve been watching tons and tons of your stuff over the last 6-8 months. Anyway I am now doing research on possible upgrades. I want to stay with Honda because of that experience with the cbr500r.. but I don't know if anything can really compare. The Cbr650r is an inline engine, heavier, and has high rev performance. My other option would be the 1000RR but I really don't want to s*** my pants or get myself killed.

There is no other bike this usable and that gets 65-70 MPG. There is the CB500F and CB500X which are the same bike but with different looks. Hey Chase, I'm sure someone else has already told you this but the cbr500r and cb500f are basically just made for Europe. Here at 19 you can only have a bike up to 47.5 bhp or something and that bike matches the power limit perfectly. I know I plan on buying one when I turn 19 in May.

Hey Chase, The CBR500R(A is part of a trio check out the CB500F & CB500X! This 500 line’s been out since 2012, they’re learner bikes like the Ninja 300 CBR250 etc.. that’s why it’s soft, it’s been designed to be easy to ride vs an R6 or 1000CC, they aren’t designed to be easy to ride they are designed to go fast as Fu*K! Glad you enjoyed it, I had one for a year and have heaps of videos on it, but I was ready for an upgrade after a year.

That bike looks like a wolf. Then you hear it and you realize that is a puppy. And a Grom tac? Rly Honda??
@IronicRebound8 жыл бұрын
MatojxR1 lol, it was the 500 tach first, then they saved money and used it on the grom when it came out ;)

standaard exhaust, just put aftermarket on it and it's done
@matteo.bassini58198 жыл бұрын
lol, they did the same with CBR650's taillight, it's on the Grom too.

@joevidya7 жыл бұрын
Hope you like it because both the Groms, CRF250L, CBR300/300F and the CBR500/500F/500X all use the same tach.

I own one, it's amazing. I notice the brakes were a bit weak at first as well, which was fixed by adjusting the front suspension to be stiffer. I look forward to riding it from MN to VA next spring.

Thanks for the review. I been riding 2016 CBR500R for since it was out and can tell that the brakes do need to be broken in. Once broken in they are pretty damn sharp, to a point that I hear complements about it from people who I let ride on it

single front brake disc, weak as fuck.

traditional forks,2 cyl,48 hp,it's pretty much a third world supersport (something like india or brazil)
@midibudu8 жыл бұрын
why would you need 2 discs when the bikes does 170~kg or less, and ir has arround 50hp? it wont go past 90mph, and you wont race with that, whats the point then? for someone who is starting, is more than enough, you dont need more braking power

on the rev limiter, but if you but that bike, you wont be driving her like that, lets be real, is just a cb500f with fairings, is not a fast bike, is an awesome comuter

I'm 15 and the 2014 cbr500r is my first bike. I ride with my dad on his zx14r and I'm just fine keeping up with him besides on straight aways. it's a great first bike. would definitely recommend. but I learned to ride on a dirt bike first, would recommend learning on that first. then this bike was no problem.

Great review. Usually people focus on raw power figures and forget how the bike feels to ride, balance, braking, cornering and everyday use. Being more powerful doesn't mean its a better bike. This 500cc range is very good and in my country the tax is a lot cheaper than for a 600cc motorbike
