Straight sword R2s feel so good now. With a good connection you can stun the opponent with an R2, reset and hit them again with another R2 before they can R1 out of hitstun if their weapon is slower. For instance if they have a greatsword the SS R2 beats it's R1 out of their hitstun. Not just the follow-up R2 but the first poke into idle into first R2 again.

So the sword of light aow starts at your feet, while darkness has a safe zone if they're right up on you. I usually use darkness to obscure myself, light for the buff, and then something like sacred blade for the finisher
