I broke down on the highway going from Phoenix to Flagstaff. I was somewhere between Phoenix and Black Canyon, I think they said.Wherever I was, there was zero cell reception and I am disabled and cannot climb up a hill to try . I had no water and it was about 105 degrees. I broke down , got out of the car and tried to get someone to stop for about 6 hours, every time they saw me , they sped up and several times I had to move to not get run over. Finally a guy pulled up in the most broken down truck you can imagine and he said he had seen me and felt bad and got me water and came back. I gave him 20 dollars and asked him to call a tow company for me when he got somewhere with a phone. Just before dark , the tow truck came and got me , he took me to a auto parts store and got me an alternator and put it on for me , I asked him how much he said nothing and I gave him 60 dollars .I can't imagine none of those people if they were not going to stop , to at least have called for help for me.

Somehow people have lost their ability to be samaritans to folks in need. They will give the homeless guy on the corner a few dollars for weeks on end and drop him off food and water, but won’t stop for a stranded motorist. It’s a weird world.

Dang! Nice finds. I've never had any luck at the book sales, yet. I remember Rick showing a few people the pics at the 2011 Rendezvous and I looked over someone's shoulder and got a glimpse. Never heard about the part where they were shot until now. He told the story of finding them to everyone, along with the Search and Rescue people that were there. Thanks for the additional info.

No. Lol. I’d leave people. I’d tell people “ nope, not happening” . I don’t believe in putting people in harms way just because of their curiosity. If you see me, you can tag along. Just don’t be surprised when I’m suddenly not there and off on my own thing.
