Great episode, Wayne. We love your shows twice each week, and never miss them. It occurs to me that you're probably focusing your personal efforts on the Dutchman's route in and out of the mountains, rather than on the pit mine location. Those last caches almost certainly had to have been pretty close to his favorite route, as opposed to how he planned to take Julia in. Hmmm, Ron mentioned Queen Valley and Buzzard's Roost recently. I wonder if that was how Jacob usually came in and out. Your thoughts would make an excellent episode... hint, hint. 😉😀😎

I used to side with the Holmes version from reading Dr. Glover's stuff but since you've had me leaning more to the Bark notes, Petrasch way. Some of the Holmes stuff seemed so off, like Waltz nephew etc. I could perhaps believe that Holmes was with Waltz and took the gold from under his bed. It certainly doesn't seem that Julia or Rhinehart got the deathbed gold. It is odd that at the critical moments in any narrative connected with the Dutchman that facts fall out right when we need them. Like where are Julia's documents that Gottfried allegedly took. And we have no existent copies of her map, which I agree has got to be BS but still maybe there was something on it connected to a fact Waltz had told her. Then on the Bark note side, how odd that there are no copies of the Walker-Weedin map, they are just redrawings. Then PC Bicknell just adds more gas to the fire with his discrepancies, it lies within an imaginary circle...and searching the cliff dwellings. All in all I agree that what is needed are the primary facts and only the facts, however sparse they may be. Do we leave the trail at the rock that looks like a man or is that BS? Was Waltz going to point the trail over the mountains from the board house? It would be interesting to compile two lists of the alleged primary clues, one from the Holmes and one from the Bark. than there is the Blindbowman .....lol i studied maps .directions and clues .legends and the lay out of the mountains ... what good is a sailor on land ...lol if their a Quartermaster land ,sea or air has no problems ..came into the legend as someone with a sighting and trace down what that sighting was . it turned out to be the Hoya .. spent a lot of money made 6 expeditions and was not looking for the LDM when i found it ... i found a lot of site 16 in all ... i also lost my brother over the stupid LDM legend ....if i never see the mine again i really don't care at times .. but i know that it is a real mine and yes i have gold from the mine and yes i did find it . and yes i am 62 with a bad heart and type 2 ...so i don't care if i ever go back . i did something no one else ever did .. i found it and got out alive .. !
