When I saw your title, I thought maybe the other Potholes placer just north of Yuma was the topic. 40 years ago those old Spanish diggings produced some nice nuggets with those first generation Gold Bugs. Thanks for the story.

It seems to me that in all of the stories, even yours, people find an area of interest. They think they got the bearings right to get back, but when they do go back, the entire area looks completely different.
