Hi Phil, if that is where I think it is? i was asst. manager in the Loriston Hotel in the early 90s and joined the angling club. I fished both this wee loch and the one further up the road that was at that time pretty well covered in lilies/surface weed. it was in the first loch with its gin clear water that I really got to see fresh stocked fish behaviour and longer resident fish behaviour - fantastic way to learn methods for both - loved it - recently went up for a a reckie with the missus - TIGHT LINES

Thanks for commenting and it does sound like you fished the same little lochcans. If I'm right the hotel has a new name these days. I'm glad it brought back memories for you. Tight lines, Phil.

Thanks, I really want to get back on the rivers for the wild brown trout as soon as levels and temperatures are fish friendly.

I used to live in that area. Next year we are visiting and I’m bringing my fly rods. Here in Australia I use a 14wt rod. Will bring a 6wt and 8/9wt rods.

I hope you have some great sessions when you visit again. Tight lines, Phil

Nice Place! Your title put me in mind of a song I first heard sung by Judy Garland !!! "Always Chasing Rainbows" Dont think she was referring to Rainbow Trout! Enjoying your videos from Westcoast Canada! CHEERS from HERE!

The Rainbow Trout are not native to these parts and are generally not popular in the Salmon, Sea Trout and wild Brown Trout rivers. Many are escapees from commercial fish farms. That said they can be great fun to catch in these little lochans.

You must be a local loon to me (Aboyne). Would be interested to meet up for a chat over a pint in The Boat.

Thanks for watching and commenting. That made me laugh, I've not been referred to as a 'loon'. I do so enjoy learning the local doric.

@@anotherangleUK lol. You may be surprised at what fish you have on your doorstep. I am just back from Yorkshire chasing Barbel :)
@anotherangleUKАй бұрын
How did you get on? I had a couple of sessions on the Wye and Trent targeting Barbel.
@robbrownfield7677Ай бұрын
@ I only managed a day, but had 4 off the Derwent, largest just into double figures. Single rod, freelined meat and a lot of fun! I will be back, plus I am going to try and get an elusive Clyde barbel next year.

Well done. Nice way to fish for Barbel. I also enjoy trotting a float, often pick up good Chub too.
