It was great to experience this first hand on film when it was purchased but I never get tired of seeing it. This for me was my most enjoyable chapter, watching you and Hanz put on a clinic by successfully landing these monster browns in the short window you had considering the weather.

Hi Mike, this is the epitome of fly fishing in New Zealand for me. Again, a river that speaks for itself and what capital brownies. For me it is also very inspiring how you and Hans still show the same enthusiasm after so many years of intensive fly fishing. Yes, I would make the journey to New Zealand again for such a river. Simply fantastic. I am looking forward to the second part.

Thanks Mike 🙏 I really miss home. You should have 100k subscribers with the quality of content you produce. Legend! 🤙🤙 Tight lines brother. From a South Waikato boy working in a remote mine site in Western Queensland, I couldn't be further from fly fishing if I tried 😂😂

Thanks so much mate for such kind and humbling thoughts. I'd love more subscribers but in this increasingly 'short format' and 'quantity over quality' world, what I make doesn't fit the KZbin algorithm so it is what it is... Thanks so much again!

Hey Mike, absolutely stunning video! Thanks for sharing. One Question, you are fighting the trouts at the end with a very short amount of leader out and so you always struggle to net the fish proper. Does this has any specific background? For me it is much easier to net a fish with more line out. Cheers.
@mikefsher Жыл бұрын
Cheers! 😂 I don't struggle to net fish, but it does take a little time on 5lb fighting 10lb plus fish. I can assure you we judge the amount to of line we need according to the situation each time. Thanks for you input anyway!

Hi can I ask why you play the fish right into the shallow water then net them? Alot if people would stand in the water and bring it downstream and into net. I'm guessing it's something to do with minimizing netting attempts to avoid them busting off at that critical stage?
@mikefsher Жыл бұрын
Basically because these are generally big tough fish played hard and if you move onto the water they often run at your legs, busting off or putting a trailing hook in your leg. Plus wading around where you are trying to land them, often panics the trout making the battle longer and the associated stress on them higher. I hope this sheds some light on a well considered and asked question.
@Trouttaranaki Жыл бұрын
@mikefsher Yes thanks Mike. Amazing footage BTW. My son is 9 and he is now enjoying your videos while I watch.

Hello, I am about to invest in Waders and I see that you are great fishermen and you do not wear waders can you share your thoughts on this subject thank you very much.

We actually use and sell Backcountry Skinz here in NZ which are 1mm neoprene compression leggings and are great for wet wading in. Best product I've used.

Hi Mike. What size McLean net do you use in this video? Thanks
@mikefsher Жыл бұрын
It's the medium sized hoop. I've gone away from them though as they have 'handle detachment' issues. I use Guideline ones now www.guidelineflyfish.com/products/accessories/wading-nets
