From someone that was actually a professional poker player, this actually might have been my favorite poker vlog video that I've ever seen. It SOOOOO captures the bottom of the downside of poker so so well. I mean, with all due respect Ethan, you played most of your hands pretty bad and I honestly don't think you should be a pro but at least thank you god for putting out real content and not just the happy go lucky, hype-filled stuff you used to put out. I LOVE the realness of this video and what you're actually going through. So fuckin refreshing.

Bro you were a college kid playing 1-3 a few years ago. Now you’re spraying 20k MTTs in Australia. Don’t lose perspective. You rose parabolically, you can fall parabolically. Quitting isn’t really an option. Manage yourself with more discipline. Your brand can passively compensate you. There are other ways to make money in poker than binking 1st in MTTs. The K10 hand shows you have no fold button, why would btn check flop multi-way then try to bluff you off 10X otr? Your hand is face up to Villain. HS regs lick their chops when you sit down. Chill your ego and stay out of High Stakes. Play the 1k-10ks with bigger fields.

I think you are possibly seeing the difference between sun running and becoming a better player. The variance is there as you say, but the best players minimize their variance with better control over the hands they play, the bet sizing and more disciplined laydowns. It's a matter of how you want to play the game. I appreciate your honesty and transparency Ethan. I am in your corner no matter what you choose to do. Take care !

Rampage's playing style leaves him highly susceptible to variance. He late regs a lot, which tells me that he's hoping to get dealt premiums or anything that he feels is decent enough to get involved in huge pots with, run up a stack without having to play for twelve hours, and then pray that his aggressive play and a nice of run cards takes him deep into these MTTs. I'm not seeing much diversity or unpredictability in his game. I don't think that he's a bad player by any means, just impatient.

The pot where he lost lost the first buy with a set of 10's was terrible. A player checks the flop and calls the turn on a unconnected flop screams danger for alot of players. The fact that he did not even consider oponent having 66 or 33 mind boggling

You have to think about this. I normally wouldn’t comment but I’ve been playing poker for 10 years now and everybody likes to slow play and sneak things in to trap people. These people watch your content and they know how you play, which isn’t a bad thing because you do switch things up. my only thing is that he does late registration a lot to the point to where he comes in at level three or four when most people have double triple their chips up by that time. I never get aggressive off the flop and I usually don’t raise pre-flop, because it doesn’t matter what size game you’re playing everybody plays the same. The only difference is the money they have. Most people know that in poker they’re playing with money they’re willing to lose and that makes it a very interesting situation. I’m never aggressive, pre-flop or post flop. I get aggressive after the turn or the river. I’m a very logical player and know that for the most part everybody is willing to lose their money lol. I was at a 55 table and I had pocket aces. I raise $75 but the player re-raises me to $650, since I had pocket aces are we raised all in for $3500. The guy instant call me so I thought he had pocket jacks pocket queens or pocket kings. He had pocket threes. The flop comes out Jack 39 and the turning river were dead. I learned a valuable lesson there. Just because I have pocket aces doesn’t mean I need to go all in pre-flop. what I should have done was just call his re-and I could’ve saved a lot of money. But I feel like I had the best hand pre-flop. I wasn’t thinking about the five cards that played out on the table. because after the flop, I most likely would’ve folded because we all have folded a nice nice pocket pair at some point. But my advice is no matter what states you play people came there to gamble their money, and they are willing to lose it which means they have nothing to lose at the end of the day. the table, read the players stop registering lol. That poker table that these people use about what the other person should be doing versus what you have has not worked for me. I read all the players at the table as soon as I sit down, and even if I have a good pocket pair, I may not raise. I take a look at all the players, and I sit there for about a good hour or two before I actually start getting aggressive or making bluffs, because I need to understand my opponents. Just because I have money it doesn’t mean I want to throw it away. I want to play as smart as possible and get the most money I can so after I observe the players at the table for about a hour or two I have been more so on the profit margin meaning that I win 70% of the time and I lose 30% of the time. I hope this helps I knew it was a long message but we all have swings and Poker just like we have swings in life. Just know these people are willing to lose their money by any means necessary and as long as you can understand that you should be good sir, but keep your head up don’t stop. because most people they cannot play poker for a living and have fun they have to work not the fives lol.

That A6 spade draw, check it more, aggression sometimes loses your stack just to a flush draw. Stop the aggression!! Save your stack and live to fight another day. Think it through more and ask yourself... what beats me? Then fold. Like that 33 boat that beat you. I knew he had pocket 33s I really did. And fold those pocket 6s before the flop even starts, stop getting involved with shitt!

Hey Rampage, I definitely feel your pain. The only thing I can say is that I been following you since day 1. I brought some of your merch. Like a few card protectors and a t-shirt. I saw when you started selling art and enjoyed your passion. The reason I state these things is bc I believed you were winning in the beginning bc you enjoyed what you were doing. You followed your heart and did more then just played poker. Now it seems like everything is set to aside and your only stressed about winning. I know it's about winning but if your not having fun, following your dreams, and only focused about your next big payout then it will not happen. Try to go to what brought you to this place. The time you were hustling your dreams and enjoying it. Not worried about losing a hand and what will happen next. Good luck from your NY brother.

Rampage, get it together man! You’re better than this! It’s ok to fold, just because you think you have a good hand, doesn’t mean it’s the best hand according to the run out play of your opponent. You over valued your tens to a call raise all in. If you don’t cover your opponent in these situations, don’t risk it.

Hi Ethan- first, good on you for showing the reality. I guess practice being grateful. I remember when we played together, you seemed impressed by my work in oil/gas. I know guys who’ve worked their entire lives- 80+ hour weeks, in isolation, and never invested properly or got destroyed by divorce. Some of them got their reality rocked by injury. You’re under 30 and traveling the world playing a freakin game kid, remember that! I’m not trying to put you down, but seriously- your contribution to the world is merely entertainment 😂 (I reminded Vince Vaughn’s arrogant drunken ass of that when I snapped a pic and he got mad last year lol) 😊 Entertainers are in a ridiculously privileged position. When I’m feeling down or personally unaccomplished, I think of people subject to brutal war and poverty 😢…be well

Best poker vloger, solely for your transparency! Find something else that you can be just as passionate about and dive in 💦 Could really be anything thing but if you’re just looking for 💰 then finance might be your best bet….other than that 4 ways to a flop with a rainbow board and no draws hitting usually means a slow played set, not to many bluffs there.

In my opinion, you're playing at stakes above your skill level, which makes you a fish. Drop down in stakes to rebuild your bankroll and confidence. Try lower fee tournaments and cash games of 25/50 or even 10/20. Study the game on the off days and learn the importance of making positive EV bets. That means you need to know the odds cold as the cards fall versus pot odds, opponent bets, and your bets.

Don't know about the rest of it, but you have the US to AUD backwards for the start of the vlog, each $10k AUD buy in was roughtly $6.66k US, so total you only lost $13.2k, not each buy-in.

You came up way too fast, got over-confident, and way too emotional for this game. I used to enjoy watching you win...then I enjoyed watching you lose. Now bro, its kind of just sad. I hope you have other passions you can leverage. Peace, amigo.

The answer to your problem is to play better… I have been playing poker for 30 years… I play in high stakes local games… I have been watching your play and there are holes in your game… Fix the holes and start winning…

I don't care what you call it, variance, run bad or anything, when you get into these funky spots, it is like people can smell it and will call down lighter than normal. I know that after a month in Vegas for 2023 WSOP and going 0 for 46 in tourneys, I lost the desire to play the game anymore. I have played very few tournaments and very little cash. Now I find myself leaning toward the mixed games more than holdem. I wish I could say that it will get better, BUT when you run bad for an extended time, it makes you doubt your skills and makes you wonder if you even know how to play anymore! I truly enjoy watching your vlogs but maybe a break from the tables may do you some good! What ever you decide, I personally will support and will watch you when you return to the felt if you take a break! Best of luck to you and hope you find your mojo again!

Maybe go back to grinding low stakes until things get back on track? String of big losses can only make you even less patient and optimistic and it's a cascading effect.

I had to quit despite breaking even after playing full time for a year. Wasn’t worth the stress for me. Downswings feel real bad and sometimes they don’t seem to end. Best of luck. Consolidate your money and get into trading or something. Stopping is the hard part but you’ll forget about poker in 6 months.

Just take a step back and cut back on the bigger stake games a bit. Don't give up, but also have fun. We all as poker players go through the motions. Everyone can agree, but do what you enjoy and remember why you got into poker in the first place. Take time away or keep playing, but change it up a bit and play soundly! God bless, man!
