@@ChasingaPlate thank you for answering, as always!! Mussels are usually steamed and served with lime or vinagret (diced onions, bell peppers, vinager and olive oil) or like “mulle et frites”, and oysters... they go out of town 😂 from raw or stemed to diferent kinds of toppings like ginger, honey and cognac, fried in oil and garlic, different cheese sauces and many many more... 😊

Yes New Zealand mussels are great, what does Aotearoa mean ?
@ChasingaPlate9 ай бұрын
Delicious right?! Aotearoa means “Land of the Long White Cloud” it is the Māori name for New Zealand. Thanks for watching Phil. Cheers, Sheena
@colonelfustercluck4862 ай бұрын
Originally the North and the South islands had different names. The early settlers came along and the separate Islands were then proclaimed to be parts of the same country, New Zealand. About 1856, the first recorded use of the word "Aotearoa' appeared in newspapers. It was a previously unused word/phrase, meaning "land of the long white cloud". So it's not a traditional word back to pre-european days, it is a modern word/phrase. Today some people use it in place or alongside of New Zealand.

yes..... most NZ supermarkets have a mussel tank where mussels are kept living in fresh salt water (just like this video at the restaurant). You go in and buy them alive, by weight. Take them home as cook as you wish. We are so lucky to be able to do this.

@@ChasingaPlate: Ive actually gone back and looked up the Moutere Inn Menu. I think because you included the price of the Ciders on the screen it threw the viewer like it did me. All the produce is locally sourced and free range, you pay for quality which in turn benefits the producer like you have shown in this series, Alexander Organics, Holly Bacon, Tora Collective the fish smokers etc. Everyone in that supply chain needs to earn a living. Id happily pay $27 for the massive quality burger with great ingredients in a gorgeous old pub, after all you can sit all day sipping a Beer and truly relax in beautiful surroundings. 👍
