Go to Plaka, the Monastiraki to see the colourful flea markets, great food, great Greek live music, at the foot of the world famous Acropolis hill.

Its better to go eat and in other areas of athens not only in center..Locals dont go to center at all :p For example glyfada have many good restaurants to eat and the area is very beautiful..Also you have to visit lake of vouliagmeni,its stunning! if you still in greece or decide to come and visit us again, i have 2 places to suggest you to go , 1st is the "Cap-Cap" it is a nice theme pastry that has unique desserts and themed with seasons like christmas halloween harry potter etc. and it is located near the metro aigaleo 3-4 minutes by foot, search for some pics on web to see for yourself, 2nd is the "arch beer" one of the oldest and best beer shop ever in athens with a catalogue- bible with beers from all over the world, its almost impossible to find an empty table to sit there and it is located near the metro anthoupoli 7-8 minutes walking. good job amazing work and amazing scenes, keep up the good work!!

Fried smelt is quite popular in a few regions of the U.S. Love them. Once again, Thomas is a sport for saying nice things about that cod..."plain, normal tasting, standard, not in a bad way." 😂 Now that this series is done, do you recall how many gyros you tried before landing on your favorite? Loved all the dishes you highlighted but was hoping for *_pastitcio_* and *_moussaka,_* a couple of my favorite Greek comfort foods. Next time, eh?

😂😂😂😂 From memory it was about 5-6 gyros. We couldn’t get over the difference in taste. The average ones were completely one dimensional in flavour. Good for filling your tummy but not fulfilling the taste factor. You know what? I tried so hard to find a really good moussaka and pastitcio to film but to no avail- next time we’ll spend more time on the ground eating so we can include them! I wonder if winter time would be better for those dishes too? In any case- it’s great to have new dishes to include in a future series 😄 Cheers, Sheena

5-6 gyros? Excellent. When something is that iconic and universally praised, it's worth the effort. A former coworker said New York pizza was awful. I asked if he remembered the resto. It was a "dollar slice" joint near his hotel. Just so you know "dollar slice" is very famous but it takes a lot of research to find the good ones. NYC pizza is found on just about any corner and with a little effort the top 25 pizzerias are easily identified. So yes, comparing a few versions is the way to go...to a certain extent. After research I found out that a tripe soup was the national dish of a country I was about to visit. I tried it twice...had to give up. 😳😂

To give you an idea this custard is thick and tastes like eating a mix of semolina, sheep's milk and butter pastry crème with milk being the main aroma. The pastry sheet is crunchy from the outside and underneath it has sweet light syrup (not honey). It's considered very traditional here
