Ty has got to be one of the classiest dudes in the hobby these days. Truly values the collector and the stories of their collections coming together. And even though he “takes the emotion” out of the process, you know he’s doing the best he is able to as a businessman, foremost, while also giving the best return that he can.

This episode really struck me deep. Not sure what you did differently but I was really rooting for Rick and his daughter the whole time. I think we forget how us collectors all share a very common bond. Rick approached collecting in a way many of us approach it and he exited in a very clean and honorable way. This was a well organized episode and I'm so glad to be part of it with you. Good job chasing team!

Speaking of David Robinson, I saw him walk out of a room at the Colorado Rocky Mountain Audio Fest. Who knew D.R. was an audiophile? I instantly recognized him as he walked out of one of the rooms and into the hallway. I said, “hey Navy man”, he turned around and smiled and I spoke with David and his wife for the next 1/2 hour. He couldn’t have been any nicer! A total class act and one helluva nice guy!

Obviously it’s a business and you need to make money, but you always offer more than fair and it’s so refreshing to see such honesty and empathy when dealing with people and their prized collections! 71 topps pete rose gifted to me by my first trip to a baseball card store in 1979 in downtown Fullerton California. The gentleman who owned the store said who’s your favorite player I said Pete rose..he says what year were you born I said 1971 he says hold on I have something for you. Then from out of his personal box of cards behind his desk he pulls the 71 topps rose and says to me..kid I want you to have this card it’s my personal card but my gift to you. Don’t ever sell this and maybe one day you can shar this with your kids. What a memory to still own this card and it sits front and center of my card rooms! Wow, I’m really glad you were able to make a deal with this man. Seems like a super nice guy, but when he said he hadn’t priced anything yet, and came up with some out-a-whack values, it was apparent that he did price a bunch of his collection, just not at current selling values.

Ty. I was born in 1958 in Detroit. In 1968 my dad bought me an AM radio and I listened to every Tiger game. They won the World Series and this was my first year following any sport and my team won it all. I was hooked and my first cards I ever collected was the entire Tiger team with Al Kaline being my first card. We hated the Yankees and we called Mantle - Mickey MENTAL and we put his card in our spokes. If I only knew.

At least 10K-13K worth of cards. Ranging from 1950’s-2010. It still hurts. About 6 years ago I jumped back in. Life long Detroit fan and Michigan Fan. I have meet many big athletes over the years in my profession. I’m now buying collections around the Phx area and the urge to rip packs is daily 🤣. If you are ever out this way please reach out. I’d love to met up and introduce you to some big collectors and show you my go to shops around the area. That was my thought too, that this was somehow an MJ Holdings collection that was headed to the factory for crappy Mystery Box repacks at Walmart. 90% of that stuff you can’t give away. Baseball Contenders? Who’s ripping that? He had one blaster of 2018 Update that he admitted he paid a lot for so this looks like someone that just bought during the Covid spike and overpaid and looking to unload it. The first guy that looked at the collection probably offered him $1000 and he declined it.

In 1980-81 I had some money from my 10th birthday and my mom took me to Lloyd Center mall in Portland, OR. to spend it. My first card purchase was a Topps "Fun Bag" full of 30 different packs. It had Mork and Mindy, Empire Strikes Back, 1980 Topps basketball and 1980 Baseball. I mainly bought for all the gum that I'd get out of all the packs.😂 I did have the Bird/Erving/Magic card but I tore all the cards apart not knowing anything about cards at the time. I had a Henderson rookie that years later was stolen from a storage unit along with alot of my collection at the time..I clearly remember buying that bag that day, spending time with my mom and eating an ice cream cone.. one of those memories that's just stuck.

If this taught me anything its this isnt an invrstment. If you are into card collecting to collect great but its not a solid investment. Most people lose money in this game. And also i almost teared up at the end. What a great guy man. Really nice of you dude

I got a big connection to this episode. Watching his beautiful daughter sitting there I just remember my lil girl being that age. Nothing is more important to me than her especially not my cardboard collection. I would get rid of everything in a heartbeat for her happiness. You can tell this dude might have really need this more than the video let on. I respect the shit outta this man for making this sacrifice and if you’re reading this stand tall brother. We have lived our lives, invest in the babies because this world is tough, we wear it on our faces and it’s gonna be tougher for them unfortunately. Get that property, don’t get big too big of a property. The goal is paid off!!! Leaving them a piece of land is crucial!!!! Interest and taxes alone are like a regular house payment these days. God bless you brother 🙏👊💪🤝 TY, you’re a solid dude man. Feel like I’m gonna meet you in person one day and I can’t wait. Warning, im a big dude but I’m a hugger. Keep making these awesome videos. God Bless!!!

1963 Bob Ueker was my first card. My Uncle gave it to me and I have been hooked ever since. Still have it and sent to PSA just a couple months ago.

I’m a single girl dad too & one day my 4 yr old princess will get the knowledge she needs to know to take control of all my cards one day 🙌🏽 made me emotional to tell you the truth. My first card that started this journey for me was in 1992 a shaquille oniel upper deck rookie stand out card🙌🏽 fell in love & never looked back

Great vid as always! (Halfway through it.) I usually watch on tv and don't comment, but i wanted to answer your question. My first card was a 1989 Topps Brian Harper. He came and spoke at my church and gave me his card autographed. In 1991 he won the World Series with the Twins and had a great series. God really blessed him. I still have that card today.

Ty my grandfather gave me a 55 Topps Clemente rookie in 1988 when i was 6 years old for my birthday and told me to keep it forever because i loved the Pirates and unfortunately still do, lol. I got it graded through PSA last year because i finally decided to let it out of my possession and it came back as a 7, which blew my mind. I thought it would be a 5. And in my first 89 UD baseball pack my father 😇 ever bought me from Tangora Cards in New Brighton, PA. I pulled my first of 3 Griffey Jr. rookies that i have. I Love the hobby and keep it up with the channel. We all love it man!!
