Great video Mike! I was looking at that kit,unfortunately I already had my ‘72 GTO off the frame b4 the kit was available, lol. I boxed all the c-channels, and added gussets on the rear cross-section (above the rear axle) and at the front - near where you attached the front plate. Also installed a BMR front brace near front frame rails. I agree with you, next to a RS or AM chassis, this kit you have is more economical option. 😊👍

Thanks, my Brother! Yeah, quite the project. I had to take time off after filming this one, ha, ha... Great idea with the Gussets, which I'll be doing eventually. But, I also just ordered Front and Rear braces from UMI. So, there should be a video coming up on that too. Thanks for the comment!

solid body bushings or at least poly bushings would really help and a must with structure that make a solid connection between the frame and body, which this does.
@FastMonty2 жыл бұрын
Yup, bushings help too, I'm still amazed at how much frame isn't there, in the middle of the car. Not anymore! Ha, ha.. thanks for the comment!

Fun Fact- If you can find a convertible frame, it is already boxed in. Depending on the stage of your build, start with that and add the extra strengthening from this kit.

If your car has chassis twist, the body will start to wobble and sway back and forth. You can fix this by adding a box in rail to the c channel so that it is stiffened up.

Exactly what we're doing... but, with the body ON. Thanks!

Hey buddy quick question...great vid by the way ! I'm a bit confused. Your saying the new support bar bolts to the floor pan?? And is rigid with the frame....how's that work when u have rubber body mounts? Or are u going to be running solid mounts? Seems odd to me...or maybe I misunderstood
@FastMonty2 жыл бұрын
Great observation, Blake. You heard correctly. You're supposed to bolt the side bars to the body, through the body brace, which I will discuss in a later episode. To your point, I don't think it matters what body mounts you have, the bolting of the body will still add more strength to the body. Clearly, when it comes to mounts, the stiffer the better. We shall see, right?
@Handlehandlebars2 жыл бұрын
@@FastMonty well the thing is ....your going to have movement in the mounts but rigid to the braces... if u look at any other type of simular set up they run solid mounts..I think if I where you I'd seriously consider solid mounts...your going to be creating movement in the mounts wich are going to be working against those braces in the floor. I meen I'm no expert but I'd def ask around...
@Handlehandlebars2 жыл бұрын
@@FastMonty also your creating alot of leverage on those floor braces moving at one end but rigid at the other. Id hate to see welds crack.
@FastMonty2 жыл бұрын
@@Handlehandlebars Yeah, you could be right. I'll definitely start asking around, but steel also flexes, so it might not matter if the center of the body is a bit more rigid than where the mounts are located. We'll see!

@FastMonty2 жыл бұрын
Wow, nice! Prices have come down since I got mine... did you get one?
@MotoKingWOT2 жыл бұрын
Yes, but unfortunately there are not many people on here that reviewed that particular model. I know mine has issues, the auto settings do NOT work properly (wire feed is too slow). Also it does not put out 250 amps like advertised, it puts out about only 170 amps on my meter all the way up!!!! Also the burn back setting don't change anything. I feel like there are better options out there for the price like Everlast welders that are name brand and way better built.
@FastMonty2 жыл бұрын
@@MotoKingWOT Ohhh, good to know. I haven't done the official review of it yet. Funny about the feed speed, I had to turn mine way down from the automatic setting. (Thinking out loud, for the thickness I was welding, it recommended 11, I turned it down to 8) I'm also not a MIG expert, so I'll have to look into the actual amp output, and burn back settings. Thanks for the tip!

I like the video for this system but throw the plasma cutter away - it's a butcher's tool for rough cuts. use cutoff wheels, grinders with flapper disks, etc. Use these finessing tools and don't butcher these new parts.
