My question is if they always had that or if they added it after the beta? I would imagine the Early Access playthroughs gave them a lot of scenarios they never dreamed would happen. I remember watching an interview with the head of Larian where they talked about how many options were involved with getting the player the dodecahedron thing that Shadowheart has. Just that one piece of kit gave them several days of work. Designing the scenarios, animating them, voicing the lines, realizing they missed a situation, going back and animating and voicing that scenario. I can't even imagine how much work goes into designing sandbox games and immersive sims. Though I fully believe they are some of the most satisfying game types to play for the very reason that sparked OPs comment. It's just great when you stumble onto something that you never imagined they anticipated but it has a specific voice line dealing with it.

Man chat's treatment of Astarion giving me flashbacks to when a freaking wizard enemy used a Revive scroll on my character immediately after killing me (they were hasted) just to revive me into a fire so that I would die again. I don't know what they're feeding the Tactician AI, but it was traumatizing. Whatever Astarian has done in the past ain't worthy of that!

The way the game is, Astarion can go around in 'Camp clothing' even while wearing armour, so you could get away with having protection of armour/gear while appeasing chat.

You can make every character's armour and helmet (including your own) invisible and run around just in trousers and undershirt, with the optiin 1. all the time, 2. only during cut scenes in camp, or 3. always while in camp. Of course, if you unequip their normal clothing and underwear while keeping the armour and helmet invisible, well... then they're only wearing boots. You can also steal Laez'el's BDSM underwear (if you recruited her) and put it on Astarion and have him strut around in it. Heck, you can even put it on Halsin the druid once you recruit him.

I've been having an easy enough time on my Dex monk, there's an incredible staff you can buy from Emerald Grove that gives you +2 to all saves (!!) as long as you don't wear armor and it also buffs your unarmed attacks.

​@@remixtheidiot5771At least Larian knows how to make fun gameplay unlike Wizards Theres way more Martials based Magic Item in BG3 than it was in 5E who is Caster focused Berserker getting buffed to not only get 0 stupidly unfair penalty but also a Bonus Action throwing attack of litteraly anything and anyone that knocks people prone is amazing Imagine if you cast Enlarge/Reduce on the Berserker in actual 5E, they would kill a lot of people Especially if your DM is the nice guy that allows Oversized weapon rule because Melee Martials NEED to be buffed

Astarion is such a HUGE favorite for me which is bananas because I don't like playing evil (which I know you dont HAVE to for him but yknow), I'm very goody goody haha, but he gets me acting mischievous. Astarion seems to be such a love/hate character for everyone. His initial demeanor is pretty hard to get over, what with nearly killing you then sucking your blood without your consent. When he did that to my evil Duergar character I just ended him with a stake right there. In my defense I had no idea it would instantly kill him because it was a dialogue option.

@@kstar1489 he initially comes off as selfish and smarmy in a way that can be offputting. and while he may have gotten caught before he could properly drink your blood, 1. some players wake up with teeth marks on their neck anyway, implying he managed to nick them, and 2. the fact remains that he still _intended_ to bite you without permission; you just woke up before he could get away with it. i may be fond of this flamboyant little fop but i understand why some players or their characters would find him unpleasant lmfao

Karmic dice is incredibly counterintuitive, just like it prevents you from having consecutive fails, you cannot have consecutive high rolls, which doesn’t make sense if you have proficiency in the check

Karmic Dice goes both ways. It'll force you to low roll as well if you are on a winning streak. As in, it will force you to fail. I've found that after 2 or 3 wins, you can expect your next roll to be a Nat 1. It consistently does it too. I did a karmic run and a natural run and it was like playing a different game. In my Karmic run, I found myself rolling on things that didn't matter in order to lose so that I would be guaranteed a win on things that did.

My friends and I were finally able to start a playthrough together yesterday, and boy was it chaotic and fun. We found out there was an achievement for killing Commander Zhalk, and made it our mission to kill him. We wound up killing him by taking all of the explosive mindflayer pod things lying around the room and dropping them at his feet, and our brave wizard cast firebolt on them while standing just a bit too close, wound up doing like half Zhalks hit points and our wizard rag dolled into a charcoal statue, but it was worth it and we killed him

You don't need an exploit or command spell to kill the cambion, you can straight up kill him and the mind flayer, just let them beat on each other while you attack whichever is higher health.

I found the cambion with the sword easy to kill, first time around by just pumping him full of attacks at every opportunity, and the next time by putting those barrels around him and blowing them up with fire. Us was a great addition to the team, they will be missed.

Shadowheart's pod can be opened without mentally tickling the console. If you inspect the console you can notice there's an empty socket with something round missing. Go into the adjacent room (the one with the other captive and the comatose cultists and treasure chests), loot one of the dead bodies near the entrance, he has a key. Go back to the other room where you found a chest that was locked. The key open the chest; inside you find a special gemstone you can slot into the console next to Shadowheart's pod, then touch the control pad and voila, she is free.

As much as people dislike La'zel, she is the only NPC character that has proficiency for the everburning blade. If your character doesn't have proficiency with greatswords, Laz'el is the only one who can use it properly.

I just finished by game with Shadowheart as a 7 Knowledge Cleric and 5 Gloom Stalker Ranger. I never removed her from the party b/c she could do everything. I always used the Cleric power to give her all DEX skill proficiencies. She was a ranged powerhouse with special arrows, had Spirit Guardians up for melee, picked locks, pickpocketed, and could heal. Gave her the amulet that makes it so you pretty much always stabilize while down. She never died. Good build.

Blocking off the sphincter with a sturdy chest on the ship in the beginning + command drop is an easy way to get the sword away from him and proceed to kill him (for XP).
