Hi Carol. It's probably too late now but thought I'd share a tip about painting spindles that worked well. I hated painting all the spindles on my front porch until I saw this tip. Instead of using a paintbrush, wear a cloth glove over a rubber glove. Then just dip your palm into the paint tray and circle your hand around the spindle rubbing up and down. Paints all sides at one time and not too drippy or back breaking because it's fast. Then throw the gloves away. Voila. Just make sure the clothes gloves aren't made of fabric that sheds. Good luck. Love your work.

You know Carol and Adrian I’ve been wondering is there any way to keep the chateau whilst living in the UK? Maybe use it as a wedding vignette! Securing the upper level where your bedrooms are. Just a thought for keeping it in the family! It’s so lovely and peaceful there! With all those acres of land the quiet alone is wort millions! It doesn't surprise me that those balustrades are not the original ones. I'm wondering if the earlier ones were more ornate; these seem almost Art Deco in their design. There are no flourishes or swirly bits like there are on so many other things around the chateau. I can't even imagine how much work that was to put those steel bars in to secure them! Well done!

Hope you’ve had some interest in your château by buyers. I know you had no intention to move on, but family comes first and grandchildren are important. I understand having to liquidate funds to move on in England . It shows great character that your continuing to work on the building knowing your more than likely leaving .

There is no easy repair for "The Chateau" . With the stainless steel rods, you have found the good solution to fix the balcony issue. Difficult work . CAROLE has already found a new task !!!!! After all the work you have performed it is hard to stop. Please to see you CAROLE and ADRIAN .

Both railings are looking lovely. Well done Adrian! You are the master of the jigsaw problems!!! Carole, I love the dark grey for the railings. So pretty. Balustrade going to look lovely once finished and the bannisters love the grey colour - I know how hard work it is we had 3 flights of stairs and 3 hallways to strip the bannisters utter nightmare but worthwhile job - hope you managed a rest inbetween thanks for sharing ❤

The colour of the stair rails is working nicely, will you be adding a bit of Gold/Brass paint to related it to the Brass Ball on the top on the nule post? The Balustrade is coming together faster than I thought you were going to be able to settle it into place

Oh I can't help imagining a beautiful Natural Mohair thick Rug before those gorgeous chairs with rich mohair cushions on those chairs, of cours with a touch of gold in the fabric.. It is such a nice space to curl up with a book or good music and rich textiles to surround a person with. But I know Carol always satisfy my greatest expectations. Best wishes.

Why didn't you pressure wash the balastrade before you started glueing it back together? I think you are doing a great job to stabilize and straighten it to last for a long time so I just wondered. The stair rail will look so much better in that blue gray color I can't wait to see it.
