It’s so refreshing to see a house being renovated properly with such care and attention going to the bits you can’t see, not just the bits you can. So many of these types of channels are painful to watch as they can’t really afford the properties and important structural work is not done correctly and it’s just covered over.

The salon seemed so daunting in the beginning. The work that both of you put into that room was amazing to watch. I'm sure that all the gilding and plaster work seemed like it would go on forever. Not knowing how the floor was laid out was a puzzle in itself. Adrian was up for the challenge though. The salon was transformed in the end to a beautiful room. The hallway was in just as bad a state, but you both turned an ugly ducking into a beautiful swan. You are both so talented, and I'm looking forward to what is to come in the new year. Hello! Seeing you hand stitch reminded me of a job I had in the 1970s doing hand sewing for a custom drapery business. Everything you folks have done to your chateau is done to perfection. If it gets a new owner they will be very fortunate. I bought a lovely large angel holding a torch figurine in a thrift store ($6.) and thought of you two. A good wipe down and a bit of very lightly highlighting on her with rose gold paint turned out well. She now holds up a white candle atop the torch and sits on an small antique, hand carved mahogany table. I wish you and your family a wonderful happy, healthy New Year! ❤

Although I watched throughout the year to see this compilation and a reminder of where you started and what you have achieved is amazing. Adrian for your skills and knowledge from removing rotten joists, building support walls in the cellar and painstakingly working out how the parquet flooring should be laid, to Carol and your eye and patience in decorating and furnishing each room, even making and dressing those beautiful curtains in the salon. I wish I had your eye for interior decoration, and also Beth for her patience in videoing the progress and compiling the weekly programmes for us all to view. Perfectly wonderful transformation! Oh, that floor… I’m amazed. As Beth said - in one of the very first videos on this channel - ”Some say it can’t be done, but they don’t know my parents!” I’m paraphrasing, of course. The quote is not exact. May I ask something peculiar? It seems a bit odd to have that little table midfloor (at 7:05) - isn’t it better placed closer to the small sofa (the one in between the windows)? Very few people could have done what you have done. Someone else could have hired a builder to do the restoration, but that doesn’t mean the results would have been successful.
