I am always in awe watching your videos. I am so envious of those who were able to visit your Chateau for your open weekend. I'll just have to get plotting to visit next year! It's nice that you had the artisans showing their talent during these 2 days. You are unbelievable in your enterprise, and they are the masters craftsmen who make the magic happen. I'm jealous of their skills and have some regret not having embraced such a career in my young age. The work they do every day will last for centuries to come, that is the beauty of their art.

I am old enough and experienced enough to appreciate the effort that the owners have and are putting into renovation of this exceptional building. I had the remarkable experience of appreciating Austrian, southern German, and even Italian Baroque as an adolescent and young adult so that even after 40 years as an architect in the 'international' tradition I find myself unable to relinquish my love of Renaissance architecture, to the extent of devoting years of study to the originals (Greek and Roman). Although I sometimes find appreciating Australian a bit of a stretch (rich I know for an American) I find the dialogue of these videos among their greatest merits. Not as much their French although Tim and Felicity's French far surpasses my own, and their effort is so appropriate for the project. Not the least of the grand gestures of this project is bringing together the best of French and English cultures in reinvigorating a common cultural masterpiece.] 9.25.24

It is disturbing that the scaffolding is still up after all this time, When is it coming down,

Thanks for your message. This is one of the largest private chateau restorations underway in France at the moment. The teams working on the scaffolding are restoring our slate roof, it's oak frame, all of the stone facades of the chateau, all of the window shutters, many of the windows, all 10 chimney stacks, various statues, all the guttering and flashing - it's an immense undertaking. All of this is being done in a way that respects heritage - hand cut slate, secured by copper nail;, careful matching of the original render etc. Trust us when we say that we're going as fast as we reasonably can.

Honestly for me it was the feeling of "this is what it could be" people working living gathering and eating behind those gates again is just, idk something else. These chateaus would have housed an entire community and this old lady finally got to see that again, even if it's only a weekend.

Oh my! If I came to the festivities I'm afraid you would have to shew me out with a broom at the end of the day! I live very near the community in Texas called Castroville where many Alsatian immigrants, my own Grandmother's line settled after arriving from Alsace where they still speak the Alsatian dialect. Old home day as we would call it in the states is a marvel of the emotional and indeed spiritual occurrence of "coming home". I think that is also what the Journees du Patrimoine must be like. Bravo! Keep it alive!
