After weeks of rain, Vivienne & Simon decide that gardens should be enjoyed in any weather, and there is no garden more spectacular than the Chateau of Villandry. Famous for its elaborate formal Renaissance kitchen gardens, ornamental gardens, fountains, parks, moat and maze, Villandry is an experience like no other. Equally delightful is Villandry's wonderful Renaissance chateau, complete with its own gallery of Old Master artwork. "Cheese of the week" is an incredible hunt for a cheese vending machine in the town of Villandry. Will the weather bring tears, or singing in the rain?
ABOUT US:
Hello! I’m Vivienne, the châtelaine of a small 19th century neo-Renaissance castle in the Loire Valley of France, which I share with my delightful (and wonderfully funny!) husband, Simon, our teenage daughter, pets, and -whenever possible- lovely friends and family.
This is not our first chateau! 20 years ago, we bought a much larger castle nearby, which we loved with all our hearts. However, nearly 18 years, many happy memories, countless renovations, and several small fortunes later, we made the very difficult, empty-nesting decision to downsize. With great luck and perseverance, we found our current petit château, which we are now decorating and updating with love, humour, comfort, and -of course- antiques and art!
We adore France and its many unique facets: its people, culture, landscapes, wine, food, art, and history. We also love being surrounded by châteaux, both public and private, which we can explore together! After 20 years here, we have learned many things about living in France, renovating châteaux, and appreciating the extraordinary riches surrounding us. We originally decided to make these videos as a way to share our lives with our loved ones worldwide during the pandemic lockdowns. However, we soon realised that many others are at home alone, and it is our privilege to open our home to you, our new friends. We hope you will join us on our adventures in this exceptional location, and we look forward to sharing a little Château Love!

What a treat to be able to tour this amazing chateau through your eyes! Love the salmon dining room! The red bedroom of Bonaparte's brother is very dramatic and the Wedgewood table is a jewel in it's own right. The vegetable garden bedroom is my favorite! The gardens are beyond words and just get better and better! The bed alcove in the owner's bedroom.....divine. The children's bedroom is so sweet and the pink fireplace!!! Really loved your duet of "Singing in the Rain!" The cheese vending kiosk is superb and should be accompanied by a baguette vending machine!!!! I would certainly join the "Simon Fan Club" as well! Yes, the salmon is a great colour so warm and inviting. Loved the tour of the castle. The architecture is amazing. The interior design and Decor is magnificent and charming, They were able to create such a cozy atmosphere out of these huge rooms by the deep warm tone colours of the walls and delicate patterns of the fabrics and Luxurious velvet furniture. The gardens took my breath away I thought I died and went to heaven.Thank you ever so much for taking us on this beautiful tour. You do enjoy what you do and that comes across very clear. Thanks for taking me back to Villandry, it is so beautiful. It rained when I went too, but was still worth it. Funnily enough I headed to the gift shop and my husband said the same thing. Wow! What a superb Chateau and gardens! I loved the salmon pink dining room and Bonaparte’s pink bedroom - I just adore colour! The children’s room was so sweet too. Bare footed Vivienne and Singing in the Rain! What more can we wish for! By the way, those 24 hour vending machines are becoming very popular! That was THE best tour of Villandry. Thank you! Especially love the gardens. It was on my list of gardens/chateaux to visit in 2020 that was cut due to the dreaded Covid19. Now we can't leave Australia at all unless we have valid reasons for essential overseas travel! Unfortunately love of gardens etc is not on the Government's list. I suppose I could always go to New Zealand...but unless you are a skier it's not the best time to visit in mid winter. Until we are let loose on the rest of the world again, I will just have to travel vicariously with you Simon and Vivianne.

Oh, how lovely you both are! I am so happy I found your channel. I saw you together with your charming daughter, Iabella at Chateau La Lande. Fabulous videos, Chateau Vallandry is spectacular and the grounds and gardens are beyond magnificent. I am not so sure about the salmon pink walls, gorgeous at night, no doubt, but not so wonderful in the daylight. Yes Simons' fan club... and definitely ice cream of the week... so many varieties to choose from.... when you stopped on the corridor to look at Shakespeares picture I thought the people passing by were going to stop and listen to your story about it.. maybe they thought you were a tour guide? 🥰 incredible history... how do you even begin to move a ceiling and install elsewhere? It was so delicate.... yeah Goya had his own style definitely, your giggle 🤣. that painting was scary. Lovely video... thanks for sharing. 🥰
