OH MY GOOOODDDD... We have just realised the whole album is about the painful process of losing her Albums and the relationship with Scott (her record label) and the betrayal she felt went he sold her albums .... it's about the music, the fans and him (the love triangle)...but written like folklore... stories....with the underlying message of how she feels experiencing this.

Aaron Dessner did most of the co-writing and the production on this album. He’s from “The National” and is the driving force on this album. So much so that Jack had to change his approach knowing that they were onto something better than ever before. My old friend JT also plays drums on a couple of tunes. Not saying Jack didn’t do a good job on the two songs that he did, but Aaron is a musical and lyrical genius. A beautiful album. One of the best albums in years to be quite honest ❤️

EPIPHANY: starts about her grandfather (WWII vet) (the beaches, bleeding out, some things you don't speak about) them being heroes... Second half: COVID heroes (heath care) (holding hands through plastic, breathe in - breathe out like a ventilator, what they don't teach you in med school) she's basically praising different types of heroes, and reflecting the pain they go through while still doing their jobs (someone's mother, daughter, short breaks to deal with it) imo This is such a POWERFUL song. betty and cardigan are my favorites so far. I can’t get the lines “I’m only seventeen” and “I knew everything when I was young” out of my head. Also Betty is lowkey giving Fearless vibes? Which I guess makes total sense because it’s a teenage love story mixed with a slight country vibe. Obsessed with this album as whole. It’s driving down windy roads in Autumn. It’s log cabin. It’s everything I needed from her.

I feel like you two will appreciate this story so I want to tell you :) I’m from nyc and on May 5th 2010 (I was 12 at the time) my best friend, my sister and myself were walking down the street listening to Taylor’s Christmas album, yes, in May 😂 We stumbled upon an antique shop on 14th street and there were a few paparazzi outside of this store, I was so curious but the paparazzi told us we couldn’t go in. I wasn’t going to take no for an answer so I went in anyway, looked around, didn’t see anyone and then all of a sudden I look up to my right and Taylor is looking down at me and says “hello there” I couldn’t believe that what I was seeing was real. I said hello and that I loved her so much. Ran back outside to tell my friend and sister and we freaked out. We decided to wait outside and then her manager came outside and said “Taylor would like to have a picture with you three, please come in!” She invited us in the store and was the sweetest person you could ever imagine existing. I will never ever ever forget that day for as long as I live. If I could insert the picture here I would!!

So I'm a Year 6 teacher and today I got my students to do a song analysis on My Tears Ricochet (because of course I'll incorporate Taylor Swift into my classroom if I can). I asked the kids why the music at the beginning was chosen. Funeral/ ghost inspired answers were the norm but I loved this explanation from one girl- "The music at the start is almost like it's a siren's call- eerie and enchanting... And just like a siren's call luring men in and killing them, the record label lured in Taylor Swift, made her feel loved but then ruined her too".

I love the shift in her album art, here and in evermore. She "removes" herself from the album's image, letting the music speak for itself. In prior albums, it was obviously her work. These show her in somewhat ambuiguity and at first glance you don't see her name or face. I feel like it speaks to her doing something that felt true to her and releasing it without the need for approval and applause. Make sense? lol

I saw A theory that Mirrorball was about us fans and that her career is “coming to an end” but she wants us to know that she’s still gonna be there for us and she’ll have all the memories reflecting on us and we can always look back on it. When she said “I’ll be on my tallest tiptoes shinning just for you” she was saying that she does everything for us but her career is going to end at some point and she’s doing everything to keep us looking at her and supporting her
@gerbiei.13704 жыл бұрын
Why did this make me cry 😢
@anusribrahmachary21394 жыл бұрын
Yeah I thought the same from my initial listen. But everyone said it's about Joe. You don't change yourself for your lover. He or she will have to love you just as you are. It's definitely about the fans and I feel so sad. I'll even watch a video of Taylor swift making no absolute sense for the whole day! Though she always makes sense.
@estplorer4 жыл бұрын
Yeah I thought so too! Her and her music being a mirrorball that everyone somehow can relate to or find their own feelings and experiences reflected through her songs. When she mentioned "Hush, I know they said the end is near..." its like she's whispering to us her fans, saying even though people say her reign in music is coming to an end, she is still enjoying herself in her tallest tiptoes dancing in her highest heels, shining just for us. And her bridge where she uses the different imagery to symbolize her different eras (circus = red, disco = pop/1989, horse & rodeo clowns = country), I think she's talking in line with what she mentioned in her Miss Americana documentary about how female artists constantly having to reinvent themselves to stay interesting and relevant.

Anusri Brahmachary Yes! @ari101aracely4 жыл бұрын
I feel like “This Is Me Trying” is about her career and coming back to music, because of the line ‘I didn’t know if you’d care if I came back. I have a lot of regrets about that.’ And she’s said a lot she almost quit music after the whole drama, and it was the fans that brought her back.

the whole album revolves around the woman who owned her rhode island home and the song my tears ricochet is about her divorced husband who was killed in the war (which is what epiphany is about) and the whole album tells the story of their relationship if you really listen however a lot of it has underlying messages which relate to taylor

This was my thought the first time I heard Hoax. Haha. Especially with the line 'dont want no other shade of blue but you' as we all know Taylor associates blue with Joe. But in Hoax I think when she says that blue line she means Bluebird Cafe, where she was discovered by Scott. She says that line coz she cherishes the fact that it was Scott who took a chance on her even tho he turned her down in the future. This is further proved by the line 'but what you did was just as dark, when they pulled me apart.' Coz she was comparing the pain when that Kanye fiasco happened to what Scott did to her.

You both cracked me up so much! I do agree, a lyrically genius album. 100% everything we need. One thing I will mention...I think it was Kara who mentioned the love triangle is (potentially) depicted in cardigan, august & betty. After reviewing the lyrics and listening to them over again, do you think it’s safe to assume: - cardigan: Betty’s perspective - august: “Summer fling” girl perspective - betty: James’ perspective

What are your favourites? We think that maybe she won’t tour this album and still end up touring Lover instead for more of a show! What do you think?? Either way, this album was the perfect change and next step for our QUEEN! What are all your thoughts on the more ‘break up’ type songs like Hoax??? Are they real…about Joe? Or are they just more stories, FOLKLORE, like Taylor has explained the album is? We would love your opinions!! Thanks for watching 🧡

"Folklore" is an example of the power one has when one owns their own Master Recordings and or re-record their own Masters (Screw You Scooter Braun) the fact that Ms. Swift was able to do this type of album, shows the benefits of owning one's Masters, there are no Pop Dance Tunes on this album or songs made just to become Hit Singles. Also, which is why if one goes to Ms. Swift's website, this is how if one chooses to, they can get "Folklore" on Audio Cassette, reason being, when one owns the Master Recordings, one can release it on any format you want and no one can give you grief about it. I think if there was an upbeat song on here, it wouldn't have fit the album. I believe my favourite track on "Folklore" is "Mirrorball" the whole time, I am envisioning my First Love and the end of the year Dance we never got.

Epiphany is my Favorite song by Taylor Swift. For me, it is not only the best, but also the saddest Song. It is the Most underrated Song. It is not the tragic Romantic sadness which is often used. This Song lets us feel the pain that you feel When you Lose a important Person. This pain aches so much harder because you can't Change it and you know that you will never be able to see or talk to This Person. Also the slow and quiet Sound of This Song is the Sound of accepting that you Lost the Person, and you Remember again and again What you still wanted to Do and could've have with this Person. You think of the Memories you Made with this Person, and it hurts even more, because you know that you will never experience this again. And you dont even know where the Person is and How the Person Feels. You Don't know who is more hurt. The only Thing you know is that you can't Change it. Nothing will ever bring the Person back. You lay on the ground, look up and feel the pain. Forever.
