«Μακάρι να ζούσε ο Γκλεν Μίλλερ και να είχε εξαφανιστεί το Chattanooga choo choo»! Μόνο ένας αντίπαλος τού Γκλεν θα μπορούσε να έχει πει τέτοια κουβέντα. Και ο φαρμακόγλωσσος λεγόταν Άρτι Σω. Και ήταν διάσημος όχι μόνο σαν κλαρινετίστας στα χρόνια των big bands, αλλά και ως καλλιεργημένος γόης, σύζυγος ωραίων κυριών: Λάνα Τάρνερ, Άβα Γκάρντνερ, Ντόρις Ντόουλινγκ - την θυμάστε στο ιταλικό Riso amaro, «Πικρό ρύζι», δίπλα στην Συλβάνα Μάνγκανο-, καθώς και Ήβλιν Κηζ, η αδελφή τής Σκάρλετ στο «Όσα παίρνει ο άνεμος», όγδοη και τελευταία στη σειρά. Το Chattanooga choo choo, ο Γκλεν Μίλλερ το ηχογράφησε σε δίσκο τον Μάιο τού 1941 και τον ίδιο χρόνο το παρουσίασε με την ορχήστρα του στην ταινία τής 20th Century Fox «Sun Valley serenade», μεγάλη επιτυχία στην κινηματογραφική καριέρα τής Νορβηγίδας παγοδρόμου Σόνια Χένι. Από κει είναι και η σκηνή που θα σας δείξουμε. Τον Γκλεν Μίλλερ πλαισιώνουν ο Τεξ Μπένεκε, η Πώλα Κέλλυ και το κουαρτέτο τών Modernaires στο τραγούδι. Και στα χορευτικά οι Νίκολας Μπράδερς, μαζί με την Ντόροθι Ντάντριτζ, την κατοπινή Κάρμεν Τζόουνς στην ομώνυμη ταινία τού Ότο Πρέμινγκερ. Και αν τώρα αναρωτιέστε που βρίσκεται αυτό το Chattanooga, σάς πληροφορώ στην Πολιτεία τού Τενεσί.

How wonderful to see so many people from other countries enjoy this timeless piece! I'm from America and my father "played this record" all the time (anyone remember 'records' or 'albums'?). I've known the words since I was 6 years old and 60 years later, I'm still singing and dancing to it. What's special is the way the video highlights the performances by the talented Black tap dancers and singer. Quite a progressive move for those decades-1940's and 50's. I wish "Big Band" music would return!

I listen a lot to Metallica and Slayer and that kind of music. But thanks to my parents I really enjoy Glenn Miller, Louis Armstrong and Bing Crosby for example. This song and video is excellent.
