Discover the Janome Continental M17

I have had the M17 for 4 months. My first Janome. This machine is AMAZING! love, it sew much! BEAUTIFUL stitch quality both sewing and embroidery. Accessories galore, well made, well marked. Solid, reliable, I can get on with my sewing projects without fear of failure. Well done, Janome!

Thank you so very much, what an awesome machine. I will have to dream about owning this one, as it is way out of my pocket. I have owned and used Janome machines since 1982 when I discovered them in South Africa. They are the best machines ever.

No, it's very sturdy. I just have finally gotten around to doing embroidery with this machine and used the large hoop to make a cat stuffy (built-in design). It was fantastic! The only thing you have to keep in mind when using a hoop this large is that there is room around it so it can move around without knocking into things that may be around your sewing area.

I love my M17. Any suggestions for storage of the embroidery arm when not in use? I live in a very small apartment and want to be able to put it away out of sight.

I actually leave it on my machine as an extension table when quilting. You could put it in a large bag and store it upright - vertical - this might save some space. I would hesitate to hang it on a wall due to its weight.

I’ve been looking at moving up to either the M7 or the M17. I understand that the M7 does not embroider, but I have my 550E embroidery machine. Is there a lot of difference between the M7 and the sewing side of the M17? Looking forward to your further reviews on the M17.

Does anyone know if this machine would be able to embroider rope bowls? I currently make them with my M7 (fantastic machine).

Absolutely! If you can do it on the M7, you will definitely be able to do it on the M17. And...because it is also an embroidery machine, you can embroider the bottom of the rope bowl - so fun!

I’m having difficulty bringing up designs that I have purchased online. I downloaded to my PC and put them on a memory stick and transferred to my machine. But I can’t seem to bring them up on my machine. Do you have a video to explain that procedure? TIA
