What an incredibly done video fun commanders and condensed into a great timeframe for someone who doesn’t have 50 minutes all the time to watch a commander hope to see more videos thanks for the awesome game!

Ethan should have listened to chandler, it would have been a completely different game. He handed Matt the win. But still a really good game

I played a game once where somebody decided to use their removal on my faerie token from bitterblossom so that he could hit me for non lethal (but substantial) damage when another player had both Omnath, Locus of Mana and Selvala on the field. I had a counter in my hand and told him I would counter it but would rather focus my attention on the person with over 20 mana on board. And that he should probably kill the insane mana doubler. He ignored me and the Omnath player won the game next turn by casting TWO Eldrazi from hand.

Ethan saw a Player with Yawgmoth and Beledros in play and decided that someone else was the threat. What poor threat assessment.

I think Shelby made a mistake here.When aproach of the second sun resolves you gain life and shuffle It but the wincon part is a cast trigger. the dovins wouldnt have stopped It.
@SmoothBrainEDH3 жыл бұрын
This was actually something we had to look up during the game. Under Approach's official rulings it states "Approach of the Second Sun has no effect until it’s resolving. If the second one you cast is countered, you won’t win the game."
@havel75953 жыл бұрын
@@SmoothBrainEDH Oh i didnt know It worked like that. Its always cool learn things like that from strange cards thx for the explanation
@justHazMatt3 жыл бұрын
@@havel7595 You got it backwards, the first one doesn't need to resolve, if you get it back from your grave and cast it again then it's the second time you cast it so if it resolves you win.

Im confused someone please help I have a hans deck, and i always thought the fighr trigger happened after combat. Do they enter, then fight, then combay Or do they enter, combat, then fight Someone told me that ladder today, and im confused
@myneighborsnorlax37802 жыл бұрын
Hans attacks, trigger hits the stack, resolves, creature enters, fight trigger hits the stack, resolves, move to blocks, move to damage. You can't move phases to blocks then damage with out the stack clearing so fighting has to resolve first.

I hate Craterhoof! I own one, but I would never put it in a deck unless I was playing competitively. It's too OP if not countered immediately, and even Blightsteel looks tame in comparison. Everyone at our LGS hates it too. Some play it, but almost everyone says it's an unsatisfying win condition BECAUSE it is OP and it doesn't take any real skill to use it or get to that win condition. To each their own, and in this game, the Chatterfang deck looked strong regardless, so this ended up being much more of a "win more" card than just a win condition. Great video, thanks for posting.
@ucbdecathlete3 жыл бұрын
There are plenty of interaction cards that can deal with Craterhoof. He was pretty lucky to drop him with only one opponent. Don't avoid using him if it strengthens your deck. Encourage others to strengthen their interaction ;)
@shundo84603 жыл бұрын
@@ucbdecathlete “play more interaction” is never a solution to a broken card
@ucbdecathlete3 жыл бұрын
@@shundo8460 Craterhoof isn't broken by any means BECAUSE interaction deals with it, and there are a lot of pieces in all 5 colors that can shut it down. If you don't play interaction in your deck then you're praying for luck, timing, or someone else to deal with it. That's just bad Magic. I haven't seen Craterhoof played in months at my LGS because it's so slow and easy to deal with. Cards like Thassa's Oracle are broken IMHO, a 2 drop that can win unless you run blue counters... but Craterhoof can be countered, bounced, exiled, fogged, tapped down, etc. Interaction is ALWAYS the answer for good players, a card is only broken when there are little to no interactions available.
@shundo84603 жыл бұрын
@@ucbdecathlete I didn’t say don’t play any interaction. But defending a card by saying “play more interaction” is never a good excuse. When my friends complain about me playing dockside me saying “should’ve been playing more counterspells” is just a stupid way to deflect the issues people have with cards. Your argument is irrelevant
@jamesgreenwood17032 жыл бұрын
@@shundo8460 I agree it’s dumb to say counter dockside by playing more counters, but craterhoof isn’t dockside. DS is 2 mana that nets you permanents that are always good regardless of board state or what point in the game it is. You get the value as long as it hits the battlefield. CH isn’t the same thing bc you need to at least have some other creatures, they can fog, removal, counter, or sometimes just straight up have enough life to live and so much more. This is all not mentioning that it costs 8 and can take up an entire turn. 8 mana cards should be winning far more influential than 2 but I would argue dockside is far far better than Craterhoof.

Great game although even if Chandler tried to counter the Approach of the Second Sun it wouldn’t have mattered if Shelby cast it again it would have still won him the game.
@SmoothBrainEDH3 жыл бұрын
That was actually something that was talked about while we were playing. After looking it up during the game, we found a ruling on gatherer that stated that the second copy has to resolve win the game and that countering it would prevent the win.
@MTGSavage3 жыл бұрын
@@SmoothBrainEDH Oh wow I didn’t know that I thought if it was cast the second time regardless it was countered or not that it would still cause the person who cast it to win the game. Good to know, thank you.
