The fact that this is 3,5 hours long and still feels too short just goes to show how amazing you two are, truly an iconic duo. Honestly, start that podcast already!! This was wildly entertaining, thanks for bringing a smile to my face 🤩

Allen is always entertaining. I'm one of those people that have no friends. Unless you count my husband of 23 years. I'm to old to put myself out there like you guys. I just do my blog for the books I read. I'm a major thriller and suspense reader. I do read other things like fantasy and I still read young adult fantasy more though.

It would definitely be cool to get caught up in some pre release book hype. Haven’t been reading long but the closest I’ve had to that is like 3 people talking about Ashes of Man lol. I suspect I will be posting alone about Forge of the High Mage in April as well.

YES! @TheLibraryofAllenxandria I'm so with you on the fact that if you manage to release 7 books a year, you might want take some time polishing the one instead. Who knows, you may even shed 300 pages in the process. And, I mean, for someone stating that it's Journey before Destination, well, he's not proving he wants to apply this to himself.

Last year I helped a writer edit his book. At one point he wanted to send it to the publishing house completely unedited. He started an argument with me and preferred to go somewhere else. Instead of waiting two more weeks to be edited to be printed, he waited 5 months. I found that he had a stupid attitude when he started that argument.

Even Tolkien brings a talking sword in Children of Hurin, although it's ability feels a little out of the blue, it still caps off one of his most dramatic scenes ever IMO. And it's probably there because there's one in his inspiration, Finnish Folk Tale the Kalevala, so it's a legit old idea (other cultures have weapons that imply some degree of sentience).

Maybe we are too jaded for pre-release hype, or just too inundated by social media to care or are just way too spoiled for choice. Pre-facebook and youtube, it was mostly word of mouth as you browsed the book store, reading the cover blurbs for plot points or checking if your favourite writers had commented on the book in your hands. Much as I get FOMO from watching all you folk discussing all the books I have yet to read, I do kind of feel sorry for you for almost being forced to chase the new releases instead of just being able to find a series and read it from start to finish.
@thefantasynuttwork

@@thefantasynuttwork It's a bit of a fools game, you'll end up reading book one of tons of series and never being able to finish them all. I think I only have the new Osten Ard books and Shadows of the Apt series on the go, everything else is a stand alone. Maybe when those *15* books are done 😆, I might dip my toes into Abercrombie or Gwynne...
