1:21:00 I think I'm relatively immune to hype meaning I still have reasonable expectations of how good sth is even if everyone is gushing but I feel if someone says some book is weak or worse than the rest the author has to offer even if I agree I still enjoy it cuz I'm prepared for it if that makes sense. Like mentioned here our beloved Jimmy Nutts hates Rain wild chronicles and everything Robin Hobb ever wrote or will write but because of that I did enjoy RWC tho I likely agree it's the weakest series in the greater series of RotE (I didn't read the last trilogy Fitz & the Fool yet but from what I've heard it's the best so I don't think it will replace RWC as last place for me)

I know how you feel, I only recently just got out of a reading slump and found that short stories really helped; though they were mostly Philip K D and Conan the Barbarian. The issue I now have is because I've given up on TBRs and got into a slump, I started a few other books on top of what I was already reading in a failed attempt to get out of said slump.

I think covid fatigue has become almost a general fatigue. I started my Malazan re-read last year and kinda got stuck, and started two other, no, three other series and haven't actually read a page in weeks. I'm hoping for some nice weather soon so I can sit on the deck with a pint and a paperback 😁. Of course Allan has no time to read, but three and a half hours of chatting... lol, I'm working and bored to tears, so thanks for that you two. At least I'm almost done with Doctor Fantasy and Professor Fireballs. Oh, and that was me that nudged Allan to make the wrestling challenge. 🤣🤣

If Allen had a division, considering his infatuation with Caesar, it would be the Library Burners and his marine name would be Hyperbole. But glad he finally finished Tigana. It is pretty good with a few minor exceptions but it isn't a page burner. And Graceless Passion has a few battle videos from DG.

Yeah I saw the GRRM post, and the reactions to it. I understand the frustration (to an extent) but GRRM's got a life outside of ASOIAF. Let him live it. Am I bothered if ASOIAF ever gets finished? I accepted years ago that these things happen. But I still care. Its a series I hold near and dear and will re-read regardless of if its completed or not and i will always respect GRRM immensely.

Man I love these Chatting with Nutts ft Allen, you guys are great, always nice to hear you talking about nothing and everything. Regarding the GRRM blogpost though, the part that really annoyed me was "Westeros has become bigger than WINDS OF WINTER" -- That to me just shows that he's lost interest in the main series, and instead is more focused of D&E, F&B and all those HBO adaptations (not to mentions the W*ld C*rds). It's not a bad thing that he's writing more D&E and F&B, these are also good books, and I think all ASOIAF fans want those books as well, but the number one priority will always be Winds and Dream. I get why he wouldn't say it, but I think fans would accept the fact that GRRM is struggling to write Winds -- I'd take an honest explanation as to why it's taking so long over a "I made progress stop bothering me" any day of the week. And I mean come on, the "less is not none"... it's been 11 years, it's not like it's been 2 or 5 years. I'm always salty when it comes to ASOIAF, but it's because I care so much about this world and have spent so much time reading, discussing it, theorizing about it, and I think everyone is on the same boat -- they are angry because they love it and they can't get it.
